- Hi! I recently started playing Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader and got very interested by the universe surrounding it! I've been watching lore videos and cinematics and a lot of people asked me to watch this one! I might even play it at some point. I'm going slow but I'm learning new bits almost every day.

@@NSUSashiel sadly its non canon, they just used Titus as face fpr SM2 cause he is familiar, but it isnt canon. He basicly vanished after the first game because of his immunity against the warp, propably he should be a Grey Knight by now.

Tyranids have their own guns that are organic most shoot acid, plasma or living organisms, the bullets are literally maggots or parasites that can punch through tank armor and eat you from the inside out

Space Marines of the Ultramarines Chapter have a deep hatred for anything that's Tyranid.
Because of the Battle of Macragge in the first Tyranic War, the Ultramarines homeworld Macragge was attacked by the Tyranids of Hive Fleet Behemoth the Ultramarines won the battle but they suffered tremendous casualties it took them hundreds to recruit and rebuild their Chapter back to full strength.
And hundreds of years later Tyranids of Hive fleet Leviathan attacked Baal the homeworld of Blood Angels Space marine chapter, the Blood Angels called all the sons of their Primarch Sanguinius to defend their homeworld this battle with the Blood Angels and the Tyranids is called the Devastation of Baal.
Tyranids are a fun faction to play as and they have some epic models as well.
Also fun fact, the studs on Lieutenant Titus's head mark his years in service as a space marine. 1 stud marks 100 years, s o that makes Titus over 400 years old

You can play the Campaign of the first game and see if you like it. It's a simple linear third person shooting/melee game, just how the second will be.

Hey :) Your chat might've said, but at the start the marines flew in on three Thunderhawk gunships. Each one can carry way more than the three marines that got off, but that's just the slasher gameplay influence. :) If the Thunderhawk opened fire, the trailer would've been a lot shorter haha, it's one of those cool moments to see, whether you play or not, of course
Yes, Warhammer pc games have a reputation for a wide variety of styles and quality. It's unsurprising with so many, at least they try different things anyway
Naturally anyone can focus on any or all aspects of the hobby. Yeah, the miniatures have always seemed expensive and that's increased in recent years. Some will point out that many like the marines have increased in detail, and in size to be in scale with other factions, towering over humans etc now.
Killteam might be a good place to start if you ever want to collect a few minis to start. Killteam games are smaller and more detailed, but the forces can be used in 40k games too.
40k's army books, called codexes/codices, focus on a particular faction and their variants. You get lore, rules and examples of how to paint or even customise miniatures.
With each new edition of 40k, pretty much every faction gets a new codex. The added incentive to play the new edition is often that each faction gets some new leader/character/unit or a big range refresh, and some of these won't have had rules before, which of course keeps fans updating haha
Checking out amazing sculpts and painting on instagram is a lot cheaper but can get distracting haha

Sounds like you might want painting video suggestions soon haha. Rogue Hobbies is great fun, she did the video on 40k adjacent movies. Duncan Rhodes has some great basics, soon you'll know the Two Thin Coats meme lol. Otherwise you might like a nurgling plushie haha

Here's a fun fact. The "studs" on his face each stud represent 50 years of service.. I think... It varies depending on chapter..

@@dagonofthedepths Thank you, I do believe the dark angels exclusively use silver studs though and the ultramarines and blood angels use gold.
@@timbackman5915 It's a chapter-to-chapter basis. Like some chapters use ten year stud (which is weird that's still a scout in a lot of cases), some use black studs, it's all over the place but the most common is the gold ones. But it is officially in the Codex Astartes so I would assume more than 3 chapters do it. It's just stated as not being a requirement. So it's becoming a bit of a dead pratice.
For videogames I would recommend Space Marine. It's the best for beginners.
If you want to try your hand at RTS, there's Dawn of War and Dawn of War II.
I was so thrilled when Titus took off his helmet! This is the hero of the first part, which ended very ambiguously, and everyone was interested in his future fate, and now, after many years, he is back again! Everyone who played the first part got goosebumps
3:33 No the fandom is divided into people that do miniatures only, lore only and then others do both. There's nothing wrong with any, nor is there any sort of stigma in the community from other people because you only do lore, or only miniatures. People see it as the way you personally enjoy the hobby and either move on or join in. I stick to lore only personally

Space Marines might be curious about humans who have survived against the odds and be too socially awkward to check them out with small talk. There was that time a group of them neglected to explain a tactical situation to Ciaphas Cain and then told him they were wondering how long it would take him to work it out. It's not always pure arrogance when they behave like that.
i started painting miniatures 20 years ago... Now i base my PC spec on if i can play the newest Warhammer games. I recently started painting miniatures again

Boltgun was amazing. I loved it. Its really worth the time.
Tabletop is simply way too overpriced so never bothered, but played loads of 40k PC games. The Dawn of War RTS series, the first Space Marine, Gothic Armada I and II which are both space tactical RTS.
And it's hard not to like elements of the various factions since they each have fanbases for a reason, but Necron fan all the way. ^^
You not confident you can paint, sister? Heresy! If you can make your face look great like that with make up you can definitely paint minis. All you need is a tiny makeup brush and a kitchen paper towel. Try drybrushing aka slapchop. Here you go buy a tiny makeup brush and paint your first Sororitas and show us. Keep up the 40k content! 400 years in war
The best recent 40k games are: rogue trader (which you already know) chaosgate daemonhunters (xcom clone that pits grey knights against the forces of nurgle) which is superb imo, mechanicus, battlesector and darktide. Darktide. Lots of people say darktide has issues but I loved it. I got a good 50 to 60 hours of enjoyment out of it. It's definitely most fun with friends. The first space marine game along with dawn of war 1 and 2 are great classics but they're showing their age. Chaosgate daemonhunters if my favorite recent game. I really enjoyed that one.
Never forget you can play XCOM 2 with warhammer 40k mods amd its fucking awesome!!!

@@Adanu191 oh yeah I forgot about that one. I did enjoy it for a time. It grew stale for me before I finished it but I still got a lot of time out of it so I was satisfied.
@@xxchaos315xx6 I've only really started getting back into 40k recently. I used to play Dawn of War 1 and 2 regularly and never bothered with 3 after the way they handled things in that.
I'm playing Rogue Trader right now, but I might switch it up to Martyr or Battlesector soon.
@@Adanu191 I really enjoyed battlesector. Partly because I love the blood angels but I still felt it was a solid game. Not overly complicated. I could play it while listening to audiobooks or lore vids.
When I saw the only good bug is a dead bug I wanted to say would you like to know more?
So looking forwards to this, I enjoyed the original which was against Orcs and Chaos.
The online matches were pretty good, because it wasn’t a “twitch shooter” like Counter Strike.

Personally, I'm more into lore and video gamesguy, although I've dabbled in painting and tabletop gaming. Painting didn't go well for me; it was stressful because I didn't see improvement in my technique (and it's quite expensive). However, I know people for whom painting is relaxing. So, it all depends on your preferences. Even though it didn't work for me, I would still recommend trying painting; you might discover a fascinating hobby.
That's what I thought as well, try a bit of everything, see what brings you more joy and stick to that ❤

Buying, painting miniatures is not required to enjoy Warhammer 40k. I have a few models of different factions, but I'm all about the lore!!

Painting: you don't have to if you don't want to. If you're interested, you could always watch some building/painting channels. I like Midwinter Minis, Squidmar Miniatures, Tabletop Time, Dana Howl and others personally, but there are a *ton* of great channels out there.
Games: If you've ever played Civilization games at all, 40k Gladius: Relics of War is a lot like playing Civ but with no peace only war. The original Dawn of War is good if you like RTS games. I didn't get into Dawn of War II, but other people seem to like it, it's sort of RTS X-Com with space marines. edit: And Chaos Gate: Daemonhunters is modern 40k X-Com with grey knights vs nurgle bois
Its ALWAYS about the blueberry boy scouts. There are a dozen more legions/factions that would be SO much more fun to play. Give me some Custodes or Grey Knight demon extermination force! Hell, let me play as one of the Thousand Sons or even as a absolute shitbag terrorist Night Lord. LET ME BE A DAMN SALAMANDER SO I CAN BURN ALL THE THINGS (and be really nice to loyal citizens)!!!
Tyranids in this video look almost cute. Listen to "THE END OF ALL THINGS" by Vox in the Void (great 40k TH-cam channel) if you want to get a better idea of the horror that are Tyranids. And if you want something to give you nightmares check out "FLESH NOOSE" by Vox in the Void also.

I can recommend Mechanicus! It's really not a game changer in story telling or XCOM-like gameplay, but it does a solid job on both, get's you in touch with both, the Mechanicus and the Necrons and has a very neat soundtrack! I really should start another run as soon as my ADHD tells me every game I own is boring, again lol
Honestly GW doesn't have a lot of quality control with their IP. It means we get a lot of Warhammer games, but the quality tends to be pretty bad. Rouge Trader, Boltgun, Battlefleet Gothic, and Mechanicus are examples of really good 40K games but most of them tend to be middling or bad. Feel like it also has this problem where the good games get a bit propped up higher than they should be because we get so many stinkers. Like Boltgun and Space Marine are really good games, but I don't know if I would put them on a pedestal if I'm talking just the best games of all time. Both have some pretty big problems that I don't really hear anyone talk about but still totally worth the money.
The table top ganw can get expensive so I wouldn't be surprised if that keeps a lot of people from playing it. I just loved making to color schemes in Dawn of War: Ultimate Apocalypse.
Read "StarShip Troopers" (also, watch the film). WH40K has a lot in debt with Henlein's novel.

Also to point out space marines are demigods to humans, to see one is rare given the imperium is a million planets large and space marines have a holy than thou attitude because they are made of genetic material from the emperors sons.

You could watch Star Wars, The Old Republic trailers. There's about 40 minutes worth of trailers there, and they're good enough that I wish they made a movie at that level of quality.

Just in case no one has pointed this out to you, the original Space Marine game has been considered one of the very best 40K video games since it's original release. We had to wait TEN YEARS for the announcement of a sequel, and many people had given up hope when the original studio went bankrupt. This was especially painful because the first game ended on a cliff hanger. Trust me, everyone lost their sh%^ when the trailer dropped.

I just want to add two bits of lower knowledge I guess that you can see from the video. The four silvery dots that has on his forehead in the case that he's been in service for 400 years, but her mind you 400 years is a very long time in a world like that. And maybe you noticed the Imperial soldier has purple eyes, this means that he's Cadian ;)

Can someone tell me why is it that chaos marines are the og astartes from the GC and HH where as the loyalist are all new gen recurits??? Because old age can't kill them right so why don't we see any GC/HH loyal marines around???
There are some properly old marines still around, but it's been 10,000 years in realspace whilst those chaos guys have been having some distinctly wibbly-wobbly timelines in the Warp. So, over the time, a far greater proportion of the original loyalists have been killed in the line of duty than the original chaos marines. The loyalists have been hard at work that entire ten millenia whereas the traitors have just been dipping in and out. Both sides have been filling their numbers too, not all chaos marines are old, plenty have been recruited later.
Old age can kill Space Marines, they just never get to live THAT long. Mind you, they can live for hundreds of years. Possibly thousands (plural or singular, we know only of a handful Space Marines that reached 1000+, but AT LEAST one Venerable Dreadnought that is 10,000 years+). Chances are that there are some who have retired from battle to take up other roles, but none that I know of. The closest examples would possibly be Venerable Dreadnoughts that simply do not wake up any longer. However no matter what, they do age.
Traitor Marines all live in a different pocket of reality. The Warp. Time passes differently there. I have no idea how it passes, but Traitor Marines alive during the Horus Heresy are not that old in 41st Millennium, despite being 10-11k years later in Realspace. Still they die en masse. There is little special about these Marines aside from a penchant for cruelty, debauchery and their love for spiking helmets and heads on their shoulders. They die and get violently molested for all eternity by Warp entities. As such they get replenished quite a fair bit using stolen geneseed from Loyalist Space Marines that have died in battle, or stolen from batches. All Traitor Marines are lesser marines (I see nothing "cool" about these guys) and get replaced quite often through various means. Still, even the "young" Traitor Marines can live through centuries or millennia of time in Real Space.
I´m really into Sororitas, soon I´ll get some miniatures to paint. I´m an experienced miniature painter and can say: Today is the best time to begin painting. Just get something you like and dive into YT tutorials. You´ll love it or just end up with some cool minis to show your friends: "That Carnifex over there? I painted it!"
I've been watching some and I see a lot of painters use airbrushes. I wonder if I should buy one already or start with regular brushes+spray paints
@@ti8ick I don´t know how to use spray paints. A cheap Airbrush can do wonders. But many cool minis are painted only with only brushes and a good technique . If you paint some minis please don´t be shy and share the results!
@@ti8ick Many cool minis are painted with brush alone. You just need to refine the technique, specially ink density. Airbrush is another animal and need different skills what can be hindersome for a beginner. I would avoid spray inks since is hard to control airflux, I use only for primering, and in really large areas like dioramas. If you decide to paint some miniatures, please don´t be shy and share the results!
