We are staying a Dreams Jade with my family of 8 including grandchildren ages 3, 5 and 11. It's a great time especially given that it is snowing and about 12 degrees back in Philly!
This resort was converted from a NOW resort. The price was a determining factor. As a smaller resort, it does not have things such as a water slide which may explain in part the lower cost. Everything is a little less than what I have seen at other Dreams. The food, for example, is OK but it is better at other Dreams.
We like the heated pool and the proximity of the beach to the pool area. The beach is narrow which we like because the kids can be seen from our pool chairs if they do go on the beach. The ocean is good for swimming. Other resorts have too much seaweed or a rocky bottom which can make swimming difficult.
Other resorts have had inclusive amenities like Kayaks which are not here. Bigger resorts can do more. Tulum had a large outdoor entertainment area and could set up a western outdoor BBQ
It is not as spectacular as other resorts. When you walk into Tulum, for example, you are blown away by the resort presentation.
The preferred lounge is nothing special and very small.
The Tennis and basketball courts are rooftop and need a face life. The drivng range is hitting into a net and the archery is being renovated
At the end of the day we are having a fantasitc time being together and the cost certainly helped

Downside
The resort is very tucked in the woods like i said . So if you want to leave the resort the walk may be like a 30isshh min walk do not go at night there are no lights. The resturants serve small portions all though u may hop around to other you get the same results some dishes also were not so warm not sure how they partake in the cooking there . The dinner buffet wasnt good to me just didnt have anything that appetise me more like standard foods like pizza , pasta stuff like that nothing crazy. Breakfast was so much better . Also remeber when you want to book like tours/guides you are about an hour from talum and cancun so the trips there may take a while considering the shuttles has to stop by and pick up other people on the way . None the less the trips were amazing . I would give this place a 7 out ten . Pretty relaxed place i enjoyed myself like i said this isnt a party resort so dont come for some crazy stuff here lol if you want something relaxed and chilled im all for it . Also the shop there is expspensive so i would recommend buying snack amd other things outside of the resort i paid 25 bucks for a soda and some chips . 65 bucks for sun screen and aloe vera crazyyy!! Lol even more dumb that i just didnt bring it with me on the trip ! But i had a fun experince
Trying to figure out why it's SO much cheaper than all of the other Dreams Resorts. I'm looking to take my family sometime between Dec 22nd and Jan 12th. The price to go to the Jade is around $1,000 CHEAPER than ALL the others. Why???
Dreams Jade is a 4-star resort, while others are 5-star
