The original was just red hooded. It wasn’t literally just pyramid head in the picture. Pretty sure the other pictures didn’t have literally James’s enemies on them either. Future games making different red heads would have made so much more sense than just reusing pyramid head.
The original SH2 picture looked pretty much identical to what was presented in this game, and definitely seemed to portray pyramid head, at least to me (unless you're talking about previous designs that didn't make it into the game) Interestingly, apparently Masahiro Ito made a comment recently confirming that the picture with pyramid head in it is a real picture at the historical society, and not just a manifestation of James. With that information, I guess it is justified that he does show up in later games, although I agree with you that I would have preferred that pyramid head remained a James only manifestation. It seemed like his entire design was made with James's story in mind. You're also right that James's enemies were not presented in the paintings in SH2. Now its kind of a wonder if those enemies shown are unique to James or if it is possible other people could see them. Again, it seems like they were designed specifically with James in mind.
@ monsters specific to one person have attacked others before. Like the nightmares of a little comatose girl attacking their adopted father. Pretty sure Harry sealed that though.
