    Hello, I am an American and I want to move my family to Finland permanently. I’ve began to learn Finnish and starting looking into the process of getting a residence permit. I am a truck driver and I’m having a hard time finding information on what is required to drive big rigs in Finland and if my American commercial drivers license would get me started over there. Thank you very much. I enjoy your videos and find them quite helpful. Again thank you.

    Even non-EU citizens can gain an access to the Finnish education free of charge if you study in the local language. I speak Swedish better than Finnish, so I entered a university in Finland and have taken all the courses in Swedish, which waived my tuition fee. Thanks to the university I even got an internship opportunity with a monthly salary :D
    In my case I had a very limited options because I was looking for Swedish speaking universities, but if you study in Finnish you'll probably have much more options to choose from.

    I relate this to the language barrier point number 6. of your video. Large Corporate Businesses in Finland usually have an English company name, or a moto or advertise in English, but many of them hire Finnish and English speakers even though the job requires only English language. Another point to make is that the Company/Agent making the selection process in Finland for a career/job can be very discriminating, and they do not mind doing so in their emails openly where you have evidence of discrimination, but no Lawyer in Finland wants to take an individuals case on and defend their case in the court. They are more interested in corporate law, corporate files and courts and taking on business court cases, which goes to show, that an individuals rights is not taken to attention although there is a law that protects you from such things, as no lawyer is willing to take on an individual case, the companies use this to their advantage! No Lawyer has the balls to take on individual cases against companies! #Heksinki #Finland #Law #Ministry #Justice #EU #Lawyers #Solicitors #Court #Discrimination #Business #Compensation
    I walked around Helsinki with around a list of 50 companies who is involved in International Cargo/Logistics/Import and Export business, gave my CV and took names and emails point of contact either from themselves or from the receptionists, but only a few responded saying currently we are not hiring, the rest of the 40 or so companies actually did not respond or threw my CV to the bin or used it as a rough note paper on their desks.

    I tried to talk to finnish people a lot, but the problem is, that my finnish is still not good enough to make big conversations and I run often in that problem, that finnish people don't want to speak english, which I can understand, but it is super difficult with every event. If it's just shopping, then it is fine, sometimes they don't even talk something more if they notice that I don't speak much finnish, but elsewhere I find it very difficult :/ I also thought of studying, though I haven't really found a Uni degree which is only in english. Of course I only checked Tampere since I live here, but what I have seen so far is that 99,5% of those degrees, you need finnish.

    • @AleksiHimself
      @AleksiHimself  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You just have to be a bit blunt and tell them to speak Finnish back to you. There are a number of Uni of Applied Sciences degrees and Master degrees taught in English, in Tampere as well.

      @@AleksiHimself No sure plenty is a good word to quantity equal job opportunities in Finland. A simple Google search show some research from Finland discrimination with women and minorities. Of course that this not a exclusive Finnish thing. You live in Japan ( and other countries) and there is pretty bad. To be fair, Finland was never a country of immgrants, and the idea of multicultural envoriment takes time for people to absorve. Best Regards.

      The most important thing for a person that moves to another country/culture is to assimilate and learn the language. In the other hand is important to treat the people that assimilate like equals or you will have second class citizens. Other day I hear you saying something about second generation immigrant. That makes no sense. A second generation is born in the country they live and should be seeing as full citizens.
