You are confusing terms and positions. The Ukrainian "Patriarchate" is not in communion and is not part of the Russian Church. There is the Ukrainian "Patriarchate, which is schismatic, there is Greek Catholics, which are Catholic, and then there are Ukrainian Orthodox under the Moscow Patriarchate (though they have full autonomy so they choose their own leaders and consecrate their own bishops, etc). The Ukrainian "Kiev Patriarchal" Orthodox are the ones trying to take churches from the Ukrainian Moscow Patriarchal Orthodox. That is the full scope of the matter. It is still happening, and to a much higher degree now. :(

Ukrainian orthodox believers suffered a lot and now they are in pozition that their orthodoxy is occused as schizma from Russian Orthodox Church! In their own country they struggle for their own Church! What good come to them from Moscow?
