    Hi...I'm new to resin....I have bought everything I will need and have watched a million videos. I have seen other videos that say to do the bath but this is the only video that actually shows you HOW to do it. While I reading through some of the comments I seen where you were talking about the temp of it and about the temp it is when you pour it. I didnt know it needed to be at a specific temp first. I haven't tried mixing anything yet, been terrified of it honestly after I bought it all lol.

    The 2nd method in the bath water is nothing I've seen from other TH-camRS. Most of them put part A and part B in the bath water. NOW I KNOW THE CORRECT WAY TO DO IT. ONLY PUT THE THICKER PART IN THE BATH WATER THEN ONCE 10 MINUTES HAS PAST. MIX BOTH PARTS TOGETHER. THANK YOUUUUUUU. I must invest in a silcome splatter.

    • @abstractboss
      @abstractboss  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re welcome! I find just heating the one part helps keep my working time longer but you can put both, I just don’t find it necessary haha. Also sometimes your water is hot enough that you don’t have to wait 10 mins. Just test it out and see if it is moving thinner after about 5 mins and go from there 😁

      absolutely! You don't have to let it rest but if you do, don't let it get over 100 degrees. it will set up so fast at that point. If you pour right away though it is usually around 70ish and it will take a lot longer to cure and be slightly less strong

      you're welcome :D work with a warmer resin. you can also use alcoho to spray on top and it will create cool effects and get rid of surface bubbles. Or you can use a blow torch (do not torch after alcohol, you will start a fire and burn your resin). blow torch is the most effective. Just don't use heat in cheap molds, they will stick to the resin and ruin the mold when you try to take it out

      I don't really have a problem with bubbles unless I'm casting. I can do a different video on casting big projects later

    How do you get ride of bubbles once you’ve poured for your project? Could you use a hair dryer if you i don’t own a heat gun ?

    • @abstractboss
      @abstractboss  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can also use alcohol to spray on top and it will create cool effects and get rid of surface bubbles. Or you can use a blow torch (do not torch after alcohol, you will start a fire and burn your resin). blow torch is the most effective. Just don't use heat in cheap molds, they will stick to the resin and ruin the mold when you try to take it out

    One thing should be noted for "newbies" if your resin bottles have the same color lids(I saw yours was different colors) take a sharpie and mark a A or 1 on the lid and do the same on the bottle. That way if you open them both at the same time you won't put the hardner lid on the resin bottle. Really a pain to get off if it hardens. Lol. Best to just open and close one bottle at a time. But opening both at once does happen.

    So my studio in my basement is cold. But I always use a space heater near my work area while mixing and curing. I'm currently making bookmarks and they are bendy after curing for 3 DAYS!!! I thought I wasn't mixing correctly but I am super careful about that. Why would they still be bendy?? My resin is relatively new, I usually use it all after only a week or 2 of purchasing. I have tried everything 😢 please help me!!!

    • @abstractboss

      Axl Pradó pour resin into a cup and place that cup in a bowl or container of hot water. Just don’t let water get inside your cup of resin

    2 questions.. can you zap resin in microwave for few seconds? mixed together or just hardener? Also. what causes dimples when used over acrylic pour
    . I'm not using silicone.
    thxu

    • @abstractboss
      @abstractboss  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jill Zidaritz ohhh I’ve never put it in a microwave! I honestly would call stonecoat countertops number and ask, they answer all kinds of questions. I personally would prefer the bath over microwave because I wouldn’t want food to go in the microwave after chemicals just got zapped hahaha. But only heat the one part before you mix the two together! The thicker part. For stonecoat that’s part a the resin. For art resin if I remember correctly their hardener was the thicker part. Never heat after mixing the two together. When they’re mixed together a chemical reaction is happening and the curing process begins. Heating it will speed that up. As for the second question, could depend on a lot of things, are you pouring on a canvas or wood acrylic piece? Is the acrylic fully dried? Did you clean the acrylic? Even without silicone, acrylic is not nice to resin 😂 I always recommend cleaning with 91% or higher alcohol. This will ensure it is cleaned and dry before pouring. If it’s on canvas, the back must be braced properly, if it’s on wood you have to do a sealing layer first because the wood is sucking it all up and then lightly sand and do a second. Hope that makes sense! Let me know if any of that helped 😁

    • @abstractboss
      @abstractboss  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Every mix gets bubbles unless it’s a casting resin so don’t worry about them, just work with warmer resin, mix slower and pop them after they rise to the top :)

    • @abstractboss
      @abstractboss  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      after mixing, you can apply straight away. If you don't then it will cure in the cup lol. make sure your project is ready for resin, not sure what medium you're using but make sure it is fully dried :D

    Hello, love the video very informative. I was curious, what type of resin to use that would be better for small project's? Im a beginner and experimenting on smaller projects like coasters, and biggest project being trinket boxes. Thank you for any advice.

    • @abstractboss
      @abstractboss  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Felicia Muniz hey Felicia! So both those projects would have different recommendations from me. Coasters you can use art resin, puduo, is resin, diy counter culture, and faux rizzle. For casting a trinket box you want a casting resin. Easier to mix and less bubbles. Casting resins I recommend are from theepoxyresinstore- clear cast 7050, diy counter culture also has an amazing one 😘
