      @@natashabrauner8309 There is a rainforest in Canada, its just not a tropical rainforest, one area is called The Great Bear Rainforest. So while it is misleading, most people who are actually from the area don't say they "live in the rainforest", they just say they live in B.C. But these people enjoy misleading people so I get why you'd think that they meant a tropical rainforest.

    It’s beautiful there. I live in Ohio and we get quite a lot of snow too but we are not remote and don’t have your view. I moved here from TN and miss the country and mountains so bad. Your so blessed to be able to enjoy that view everyday. I know you both work so hard and have hand built every thing we get to watch on here. How inspirational. Very few people can say they have created a home in a remote area like you two have. Everything you do is manual from washing clothes to washing dishes and hand pumping water. You are both extremely hard workers. Thank you again for sharing your amazing life.

Please consider this it’s not criticism but you gotta puts sides on that wood storage or all that beautiful construction is for nothing the wood will still get wet and you will struggle all winter with wet wood, also the tin roof channels are the wrong way for snow slide Jakes going to be up on a ladder pushing snow off that roof to keep it from collapsing. Just want to see you guys thrive hope everything works out well keep it up

    Hey guys, know the difference between trolls and fans who are legitimately concerned abs care about you guys. Trills are true at-home who WANT to see you FAIL. Your fans love you guys and want to see you succeed BUT may be legitimately concerned about your safety and express those concerns. Some of us have been following you for YEARS. We post concerns, and get lumped in with trolls. Kinda hurts man. Seriously though, at least acknowledge from time to time that you appreciate where the concern comes from and that you acknowledge that your fans actually care. Even if you dont agree with the details and think everything is fine. That being said, man this video of the snow and the aerial shot were mesmerizing.... And really loved seeing what was probably the dogs very first experience with snow. They were joyful.

      The winter is the perfect time to do it too since there's zero risk of starting a forest fire. In the spring it will be too rainy and in the summer they will be too busy gardening and doing other stuff. I said earlier they should keep that fire pit going 24/7 outside until the place is clear. It could be many years until that forest around them is responsibly managed.

    For quick heating. LASKO ceramic element. Just plug it the 12 volt. It has different temperature settings. It will heat your place up super fast. Way faster than the fire. It is good to get going until the fire builds up heat. Since you have solar. This will be a great addition. It's easy to tuck away. I've had mine for 3 years and it's still going. Absolutely safe. Not a fire hazard.

    Is there a reason why you put the metal roofing on that way ? Rain and snow can't run off but will build up. Or is one end higher then the other ? Be safe with the chainsaw and the ladder with wet boot's. God bless

    Just curious as to how much firewood you think you needed to heat the yurt this past winter. The wood burning stove looks to be pretty efficient! Also, I've seen some videos where they run copper piping either through the fireplace OR they coil the flexible copper piping around the pipe and put that to a hot water tank so they can get hot water. I've been trying to figure that out myself to conserve energy...difficult to do when I have 10 kids in the house!! Your setup looks great.

    Here's a little fun fact for all you to share with all those Trolls. Yurt is a housing system developed by the nomadic Mongolian tribes thousands of years ago. These tribes tended to live there winters in frozen and snow covered regions. Yurts served them well for thousands of years. These people still use yurts today. Jake and Nicole are doing everything right from my perspective. Keep up the good work. And remember, haters will be haters. You are living the dream. I wish I was there with you guys.

  • @liolio000
    @liolio000 5 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    First, I want to say that I'm not 'trolling' and am genuinely concerned about the integrity of the structure you've built. Those planks that hold the posts together and support the roof need to be thicker. I don't know why you keep drilling holes in the middle of them either. By doing so, you basically render half of the plank/beam useless because the load comes from the top, it pushes downward. It's better if you put a beam on top of the posts and use pieces to secure it at 45 degree angel. Similar to what you did with the lean-to at 19:16 but you make a cut and nail/screw it under the beam. It's good that you use sheet metal and the roof is basically light but if you get a lot of snow and don't clean it... don't think it would last long. I would keep a very close eye on the holes of the planks if I were you. I would expect a split to occur exactly in the middle of the hole and run all the way to the next hole. If you see anything like that I would advise you to tear down the whole roof before something gives and collapses.

    Both roofs you have put on the wrong way. I hope there is a pitch the front or back but it wouldn’t make sense. It’s either draining to the yurt or draining in the front so it would cover you when you walk up. Is there a reason why ?
