Hey, I’m Zury, the bard playing. Thank you everyone for appreciating the vigil that the whole FFXIV community was able to bring up in the memory of the author that gave life to Berserk and to anything else related and inspired. I firstly joined as Dark Knight but as soon as the line got bigger I wanted to give something more to everyone standing in their mourning and be somehow closer to them. Berserk was a (weird to say) memory from my childhood and the sorrow is so fresh I still can’t process it completely. The vigil got bigger and crowded, more bards joined, every angle of the roads were filled with the warm feeling of solidarity. What we all did was incredible. Thank you Smug for taking part of the vigil and recording this. (And also for reaching out to me in game linking it to me out of the blue) Thank you, FFXIV community. "You're going to be alright. You just stumbled over a stone in the road. It means nothing. Your goal lies far beyond this, doesn't it? I'm sure you'll overcome this. You'll walk again...soon." Thank you, Miura. Miura has said that Guts isn't the first to use a giant sword, but he made sure he was the first one where it actually feels like he has a giant sword, since a lot of work went into making sure that each swing of Dragon Slayer had an appropriately huge impact.
The better word to describe it is the first to give reality check on BFS. There were many giant sword wielder, but he was sort of the first to actually emphasize the ridiculousness of using such big sword. It was too big, too thick, more like a giant slab of iron. In interview he confessed that. Giant sword was just attraction for his works, but he makes it more realistic(in his own way)
The fact that this happened in FF14 and the amount of people involved demonstrates how 1 piece of media can inspire and touch the lives of so many strugglers in life. Though the manga is most likely going to remain unfinished, at least we can all take solace knowing all the passion that Miura put into his magnum opus was well worth the journey

It really cannot be overstated how influental Berserk has been to all kinds of fantasy media. Our world would be a different place without Mieura. For example Dark Souls, one of the most influental game franchises of this millenia, wouldn't be the same without Berserk. And it's not hard to guess where the stereotype of sad anime boy carrying huge sword came from in FF7, the game that made this franchise a thing in the West.
Despite the world around them seemingly not caring, they kept serious. They cherished the memory of an unforgettable person. With respect, admiration and gratitude. This may be small to some, even worthless, but to us? It's enormous. It's moving. It's strong. This is the true essence of Berserk, the true essence of Kentaro Miura. It's beautiful. Thank you for sharing this moment.

FFXIV and many other games like Darksouls/Monsterhunter/FF7 drew inspiration from his work/art. The media and dark fantasy genre that we know today also wouldn't be the same without Miura and Berserk.
I actually have another kind of cool bit to this: I dont know if it happened on other servers, but me, the coordinators of the Midgardsormr vigil and about 20 others actually got together in front of the Hall of Flames, got in a circle, threw our campfires together and made a commemorative *Bonfire of Dreams* neat the end of one of the days of the vigil as a sort of proper send off to him
Imagine, i have never read or watched berserk and literally cried because of this video. Showing this amount of respect towards Kentaro Miura in a video game is simply beautiful. This video is a piece of art.
I think Berserk hits extra hard because it was such a painful story. I dare you to watch the first couple of episodes from the 1997 anime! That got me hooked. (If you do watch it, the first episode is the last chronologically. The second episode is the true first in the story.)
I just wanted to see Guts and Casca live happily ever after and Guts get revenge for himself, for Casca and the lost members of the band of the hawk. I’ve been crying all day. This is just too sad 😞💔

This evening, I started the 1997 anime (I started it as a kid, but I was too young and they aired it too late in the evening for me to watch it). And when this song played in the anime, it was like an epiphany. The odds... Master Miura... see you there. Stay safe, happy, and peaceful. Master Miura. @@zelda117ifyshow it’s true that if it occurs theres not much that could be done, but if he had his heart checked before the actual rupture and the signs were found, something could have been done earlier. I do here that it’s difficult to know when to actually get checked though. And when it occurs the survival rate drops the longer one goes without treatment. If he ignored the signs for a while to focus on his work, then that may have reduced his survival chances by a lot. We have no idea when he first noticed them symptoms.

My love for Berserk was what led me to Final Fantasy, I was starving for a fantasy experience that would affect me the same way it had done to me, I come across a few of the pre-rendered cutscenes from Crisis Core, and I figured I would include myself into the fandom by picking up XV, which I cherish every bit as much as I do Berserk. Thank you for the rabbit hole, Kentaro, I've continued my indulgences into pieces of work with even a modicum of similairities, and through exploring like this I seek to become a creator in the same vain as you are. Goodbye, our hand of god.

my favorite author dies, my mom is gone, my dad is gone, my brother is gone, my bestfriend is gone, everyone in my life just seems to slowly pass away i really cant take any of this any longer, i feel so numb yet so disgustingly sad at the same time, why does life take all nice things away from us, this comment won't be read by anyone which makes the fact that i'm even writing this even more sad, i feel so bad for guts even though he physically doesn't exist, i feel so bad for him because it feels like he lost his real dad , kentato miura, he's lost everyone, his friends, the love of his life, and now his creator, maybe that's why i love guts so much, because i can relate and understand his pain, i can understand him completely, i don't know what to do, berserk was the only anime and manga that helped me make sense of this world, now that i'm sure it won't be continued anymore, i just can't even fathom into words how i feel, this is the only place i can let out my feelings, it's so lonely out here.

Honestly this was beautiful a ton of people coming together to commemorate a legends's passing and while I didn't read or watch any "Berserk" media I still can apprechiate what others got out of that and seeing how many people banded together to do this it is amazing what a community can do. I hope master Kentaro Miura will rest well and if there is another world or another life idk I hope he'll be well there.

Shout out from Cactaur, here. One of my dearest friends has followed Berserk for the longest time, and he was devastated by the news. He doesn’t play, but I’m happy to say that hours later in Ul’Dah, they’re still going strong.
Now that With Kentaro Miura is gone the Berserk Manga Series will looked like to have a cliff hanger as we may never know if Guts will finally have his final showdown with Griffith to avenger his fallen comrade during the eclipse. So are the writer planning to make Season 3 and take it from there by making up the end of the Berserk anime Series to an sure that Guts will face Griffith at last since there won't be in the Manga.
This is cool knowing that berserk inspired ff7 character designs for Sephiroth and zack who would then become cloud, berserk has played a big roll in a lot mainstream fictions and other fantasies, rip kentaro

I'll give you my thoughts and feelings in german. I'm just so shocked, my english wouldn't be any good: Ich übertreibe nicht, wenn sich die eigene Seele plötzlich wie ausgeknipst anfühlt und fröhliche Gedanken dahinschmelzen und einem runterlaufen. Merkwürdiges Gefühl... ich traf diesen Mann nie, er ahnte nie etwas von mir... Und doch haben er und sein Schaffen mich in so vielen Punkten beeinflusst... das ich plötzlich eine ungeahnte Leere spüre. Die Entscheidung, den Angehörigen erst noch Zeit für einen ruhigen Abschied zu geben war eine angemessene, finde ich. Sicher bleiben jetzt zahllose Fragen bezüglich Berserk zurück. Aber vor allem wüsche ich Miura-sama, dass dort wo er jetzt sein möge, ihn kein Stress und keine Gebrechen mehr ereilen. Eine Unsterblichkeit/Erinnerung in Faszination, Bewunderung und Dankbarkeit wird erhalten bleiben.

I was there, and in the video. I'm the guy who sits in the central right, Rebba Cocksworth. I haven't reached a high enough level to have a level in dark knight so I couldn't participate, but now I am beginning to grind up to it to commemorate Miura. Berserk is probably one of my favourite mangas (which isn't really a big thing since I've only read like 4) and I still haven't finished it, but I know I will. I'll miss and feel sad that there's no real ending, but rather having it end gloriously than continue horebly.
Yo, im Leon Yonidas, like 5 people to the left. Its so cool that i got this recommended. I listened to the bard for a pretty long time, and left my pc for the rest. It was so nice seeing everyone tell about what Berserk means to them, and even better seeing so many people there at once. I was dumbfounded by the amount of players paying tribute, and we arent even one of the bigger servers.
I just came from the future to announce to you all that Berserk manga will be continued. This time, Miura's close friend (who is the only guy who knows how the story will end) will be the main guy with art direction and everything.
Truly a thing of beauty and a wonderful way to remember Kentaro Miura, I remember the first thing berserk related was the game for the dreamcast I still have it, then I watch the original anime and read the manga, and I thought to myself how this one guy named Guts kept fighting even though he was outnumber, or outmatched but through sheer willpower defeat those who stood in his way. It was great storytelling and Kentaro showing that as long there a will there away. Yasuraka ni nemuru Kentaro Miura thank you for tell us your stories.
This makes me so emotional... Thank you so much FFXIV-community for this well-deserved tribute and bonfire to a legend. Miura's work means so much to me and his characters and world accompanied me on my path for so many years. I always knew that Miura's influence was strong but only now, after his death and seeing tributes like this, I am seeing the scope of it: So many different people from so many different parts of the world and life are coming together to respect this author in unision - connected to each other through the same journey we all took. It's incredible how the work of one very passionate individual united people all around the world through his art, I'll always be thankful with Miura for creating such an amazing story like Berserk and for all the moments of happiness, sadness, rage and thoughts that it gave to me all this years. I was taking a break from the game at the time when Miura passed away. Breaks my heart that I couldnt rest beside the bonfire with all the others who had dreams of their own. RIP Miura.
I remember being on that day. I had not heard Miura had died yet when I came across the line of DK's all standing in front of their campfires. Then all the people who were giving their respects, I immediately went to see what the hell happened and... Rest in Peace Miura, What a sad day it was.
It has almost been a week but I still miss Miura. I never knew him personally but what he did in his masterful work really did a lot and him not being here seems like a big piece of the world is missing

Shout out from Cactaur, here. One of my dearest friends has followed Berserk for the longest time, and he was devastated by the news. He doesn’t play, but I’m happy to say that hours later in Ul’Dah, they’re still going strong.
Now that With Kentaro Miura is gone the Berserk Manga Series will looked like to have a cliff hanger as we may never know if Guts will finally have his final showdown with Griffith to avenger his fallen comrade during the eclipse. So are the writer planning to make Season 3 and take it from there by making up the end of the Berserk anime Series to an sure that Guts will face Griffith at last since there won't be in the Manga.
We did the same thing on Cerberus, it's really hurts..

This is cool knowing that berserk inspired ff7 character designs for Sephiroth and zack who would then become cloud, berserk has played a big roll in a lot mainstream fictions and other fantasies, rip kentaro

I'll give you my thoughts and feelings in german. I'm just so shocked, my english wouldn't be any good:
Ich übertreibe nicht, wenn sich die eigene Seele plötzlich wie ausgeknipst anfühlt und fröhliche Gedanken dahinschmelzen und einem runterlaufen.
Merkwürdiges Gefühl... ich traf diesen Mann nie, er ahnte nie etwas von mir... Und doch haben er und sein Schaffen mich in so vielen Punkten beeinflusst... das ich plötzlich eine ungeahnte Leere spüre.
Die Entscheidung, den Angehörigen erst noch Zeit für einen ruhigen Abschied zu geben war eine angemessene, finde ich.
Sicher bleiben jetzt zahllose Fragen bezüglich Berserk zurück. Aber vor allem wüsche ich Miura-sama, dass dort wo er jetzt sein möge, ihn kein Stress und keine Gebrechen mehr ereilen. Eine Unsterblichkeit/Erinnerung in Faszination, Bewunderung und Dankbarkeit wird erhalten bleiben.

I was there, and in the video. I'm the guy who sits in the central right, Rebba Cocksworth. I haven't reached a high enough level to have a level in dark knight so I couldn't participate, but now I am beginning to grind up to it to commemorate Miura. Berserk is probably one of my favourite mangas (which isn't really a big thing since I've only read like 4) and I still haven't finished it, but I know I will.
I'll miss and feel sad that there's no real ending, but rather having it end gloriously than continue horebly.
We had this going on in my server too. It was such a heart warming gesture and I'm glad to have been apart of it
Yo, im Leon Yonidas, like 5 people to the left. Its so cool that i got this recommended. I listened to the bard for a pretty long time, and left my pc for the rest. It was so nice seeing everyone tell about what Berserk means to them, and even better seeing so many people there at once. I was dumbfounded by the amount of players paying tribute, and we arent even one of the bigger servers.
I just came from the future to announce to you all that Berserk manga will be continued. This time, Miura's close friend (who is the only guy who knows how the story will end) will be the main guy with art direction and everything.
Truly a thing of beauty and a wonderful way to remember Kentaro Miura, I remember the first thing berserk related was the game for the dreamcast I still have it, then I watch the original anime and read the manga, and I thought to myself how this one guy named Guts kept fighting even though he was outnumber, or outmatched but through sheer willpower defeat those who stood in his way. It was great storytelling and Kentaro showing that as long there a will there away. Yasuraka ni nemuru Kentaro Miura thank you for tell us your stories.

This makes me so emotional... Thank you so much FFXIV-community for this well-deserved tribute and bonfire to a legend. Miura's work means so much to me and his characters and world accompanied me on my path for so many years. I always knew that Miura's influence was strong but only now, after his death and seeing tributes like this, I am seeing the scope of it: So many different people from so many different parts of the world and life are coming together to respect this author in unision - connected to each other through the same journey we all took. This kinda gives me solace. Thank you so much Miura and rest in peace. We can all move forward together, my dear fellow strugglers.

It's incredible how the work of one very passionate individual united people all around the world through his art, I'll always be thankful with Miura for creating such an amazing story like Berserk and for all the moments of happiness, sadness, rage and thoughts that it gave to me all this years.

I was taking a break from the game at the time when Miura passed away. Breaks my heart that I couldnt rest beside the bonfire with all the others who had dreams of their own.

There's something about this video that is so replayable. I think I come back here monthly to listen to the bard.
I remember being on that day. I had not heard Miura had died yet when I came across the line of DK's all standing in front of their campfires. Then all the people who were giving their respects, I immediately went to see what the hell happened and...

It has almost been a week but I still miss Miura. I never knew him personally but what he did in his masterful work really did a lot and him not being here seems like a big piece of the world is missing
its truly incredible how one mans passions and dreams can earn so much respect and reach the hearts of millions more and even inspire this, kentaro miura truly deserved the title of "legendary". although he may be gone he shall forever live on through his work and in our hearts

Sad that we never got a decent story and gameplay game of berserk. I wanna play as guts. Sitting alone in a mountain top under the moonlight. A game with great story telling and combat. And just chilling in the scenery and atmospheric music
I meant an open world single player game. Like ghost of Tsushima and genshin impact and ff7 remake. Not just all about the combat.
