A farm manager planted hybrid corn in 2-ha field. The soil laboratory gave him the fertilizer recommendation in elemental form at 120-35- 50 kg/ha N,P,K. The available fertilizers in the AgriVet store are only complete (14-14-14), Urea (46-0-0) and Ammonium Phosphate (16-20- 0). The complete fertilizer costs Php 1,300/bag, Urea at Php 1,200/bag and Ammonium Phosphate costs Php 1,350/bag. Determine the exact amount of money he needs to buy the needed fertilizers.

I want to ask a question regarding Hydroponics. In what ratio should be used NPK 19:19:19 in Hydroponics and should we add epsom salt to it, in what ratio? Any other addition is required to health of plants.

      Hector. 2.75 lbs of 12% N, +4 lbs of 10% P + 4 lbs of 60%K : 2.75 lbs fertiliser @12%N = 2.75 x 0.12= 0.33 lbs N. lbs of 10% P = 4 X .10 = 0.4 lbs P x 2.28 = 0.91 lbs P2O5. 4 lbs of 60%K = 4 x .60 = 2.4 lbs K x 1.21 = 2.90 lbs K2O

What? A 50 lb. bag of 10-10-10 should have 5 lbs. of each of N-P-K. I got lost understanding how to convert down further. For instance, why multiply further by ,44? Why do you use the conversion factor when you already established how many pounds of product in a 50 lb. bag?
