      Honestly I'm more upset at the mom here. Its possible that if the mom wasnt pressuring and shaming her into getting it done, she may have been able to just say "I can't do this, I'm sorry" and then leave. She tried to say and do that a few times but her mom kept pushing her to get it done and to "stop embarrassing" her.
      The dynamic between them just feels so bad. Like if her mom is like that a lot, I completely understand why she has anxiety oof
      It is ultimately on the person getting pierced to say no, but, as someone with social anxiety, I definitely sympathize with feeling overwhelmed in this situation.
      Also the way Someone else grabbed her face??? Oh noooo

    • @nonexistingvoid

      @@bbyghostie1044 I was about to say the same thing.
      The girl seemed unsure about her own autonomy, clearly pressured to stay seated and get pierced.
      The mom being there was the biggest problem in that situation.
      Good that the piercer stayed calm, but I'd probably have sent the mom out to ensure this is actually what the girl wants.

    While the girl freaking out about not knowing if she wanted her nose pierced was super annoying, the piercer should also have said NO as soon as she started getting panicky. He has the responsibility of knowing when NOT to work with a client who clearly isn’t ready for a permanent body modification.

      @@theresajones7920 Back when I lived in Canada, all of the piercing places in my city were downtown, so easily an hour drive from the suburbs where I lived, depending on traffic.
      I feel like that's normal in most Canadian and American cities, especially when people live in nearby towns.
      The idea of going to some random person's house instead of a studio downtown just sounds lazy. Or like they couldn't afford the gas, but if that's the case then they can't afford the aftercare either.

      The fact it was being filmed even though she was clearly not ready for it makes me think they pressured her to get it for content. Maybe not, but something was weird. She wasn't even saying that she was afraid of the needle, she was saying she's not sure if she wants the actual piercing. As soon as she said that, mom should have called it off. Just get her a fake nose stud.

The skin on the front of the ear before the cartilage and then the skin on the back of the ear. Not a great idea either way but not as bad as if he really forced it through his actual cartilage.

    I believe the girl piercing her septum meant that her fiancé refused her to get one. Doing it at home isn’t great but I believe that was her way of showing she can do what she wants and he can’t force her not to. That’s the vibe I got at least. I also didn’t get drunk vibes.. I got crying sad vibes. She was reclaiming. And anyone saying ‘is it worth an engagement for a badly done septum piercing’.. yea, sometimes it is. She was making a point. Respect is one thing.. she should respect her partners opinion to an extent. But so should the partner. Nobody should ever tell you what to do with your body, fiancé or not. I agree with you, someone that age, behaving that way before it's even pierced I would have refused to do it. I also agree why I mentioned they were fosters boys? 🤔 Also why would you even record your daughter acting like that and her that age? The things people do for attention 🙄

    With the teen girl who was freaking out about getting the nose piercing, I wanna say that I have a feat of needles and anxiety. HOWEVER I just told the piercer to not warn me, do it quickly, and I won't pull back or squirm. Had my eyes closed the whole time and it was fine. Still have my nose piercing and it looks great!

    So, I got my ears pierced when I was a teenager. With a gun, of course, since I am 50+ now and there were no piercing studios then... I also had seconds in my lobes made but they healed fairly quickly after I realized that I wasn't only allergic to nickel but also silver and gold. The first ones miraculously stayed open until this day.
    Anyway, decided to wear earrings again now that there are both surgical steel and titanium available. Also wanted new second lobes as well as a Helix done. Stumbled over your videos on TH-cam half a year ago and got great information which made me book an appointment at a great piercing studio. I now also have 3rd lobes and a forward Helix done. Don't know where I'll stop, it's kind of addictive..... 😂

      I love this comment! I'm 40, and an average "suburban mom". I got my first lobes as a grade school kid (redone several times, of course at Claire's and kept getting infected/closed) and second lobes done at 15 (again Claire's, luckily less issues that time). I hadn't really thought of thought about more piercings since then, and only recently started wearing earrings again because I got out of the habit when my kids were younger. My 8-yr-old daughter asked about getting her ears pierced. Luckily I have pierced friends and family now, so now I know piercing guns are bad. My daughter has tried twice (6 months between attempts) and chickened out both times, I felt kind of bad for the piercer, so decided to get my helix done to give her some actual business (and extra tipped well to show my thanks for her patience with my daughter). Now I'm planning what to pierce next!

    I have a huge fear of needles when I got my nose done I knew the piercer and I made it clear, that I have a huge fear of needles. As long as I can’t see anything I’m fine and she made sure to keep her tray covered and once I was happy with the placement she told me to close my eyes and it was done. Even when I’ve been to a different piercing studio I always make it very clear about my fear but as long as I don’t see anything I’m fine. Every piercer I’ve had has been really reassuring, calm and understanding I’ve got 13 piercings and I’ve never had a bad experience or behaved anything like the girl who was constantly humming and haaaaring about it. It’s all about talking to your piercer

    The people I see to get my piercings have a studio in a separate section of their house and are very clean. Also some of the nicest people I've ever met and are very professional. I'm so, SO grateful to have a good piercer for all these reasons. I fainted for one of my piercings and they were so patient and my piercers "assistant" (his wife) grabbed me juice and made sure I was feeling alright and still able to talk. Such amazing people.

    I feel like a have to rant a little bit. Over Christmas, I got my conch pierced and i absolutely love it. Wasn't painful at all and the healing is going very well. This one girl in my class said she will get her seconds pierced over Christmas too. We came back to school and she's showing off her piercings saying how much she likes them but that they're already infected. We went to the same piercer so I knew they were a good place so I thought maybe it wasn't an infection but an allergic reaction of some sort since her piercings looked fine. She said it could be possible but wasn't sure. Literally 10 seconds later she proceeds to rub her piercings with her dirty hands in the middle of P.E. class. I was standing there completely speechless. I just walked off and didn't bother with her. Thanks Roly for teaching me how to be a responsible human with my piercings. Your wisdom is priceless

    So I have Tourette Syndrome and just got my industrial done. My piercer took into consideration of my tics... She had let me bring a stuff toy with me in the piercing studio gave me time to let my tics out and get it and then gave the "1,2,3 take a deep breath" so I had the time to focus my sensation of my tics into my hugging my squishmellow.
    I'm saying this because it is 100% possible to get piercing if you are afraid, have a disability where you move or need extra support and time to do so but here is the thing... You need to find the right piercer for you. One how is trained to do the piercing and is willing to accommodate your needs. Let's face it, if you have conditions like anxiety, Tourette, Autism, etc... We can't just walk into any piercer and expect them to be able to accomplish or needs. Its a sad reality but the world ableist so legit, you need to do your research harder than most because amazing inclusive piercer exist... You just need to find them

    I think we kind of need to move away from shaming people for going to a cheaper or closer piercing place because they don't have enough money. While the whole "if you can't afford to go to this fancy place, then you just shouldn't get pierced" might work in theory, it is never gonna work in practice. Broke people want things too, and they're not going to stop. I've re-pierced my ears before when I haven't had money. I've also gone to well reviewed places when I could afford it. And honestly, the quality varies even at the best of places. I've had messed up work from 5 star shops. Maybe instead of shaming people who made a bad choice because of financial difficulties, we could offer them some helpful information. Share the best shops in our area, tips for how to know when a piercer seems shady, tips on what to do if you do have a problematic piercing.

    • @Zombii_x
      @Zombii_x 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes people short of money deserve nice things but when you’re dealing with piercings and tattoos research is crucial.
      They should not be impulsive, they should not be decided overnight, and certainly should not be done at your closest place for convenience.
      I saved for months and planned all of mine. I took the bus to the next town over because the closest places had terrible reputation and I was not willing to take that chance. I have considered doing piercings myself (thanks bipolar), thankfully I have never gone to those lengths.
      Piercings are not a small decision and awareness of what could go wrong is needed. Sometimes piercings go wrong, yes, but we can do everything we can to minimise this risk.
      Cheap places are not always bad, and expensive places are not always good.
      Thankfully in this age of technology research is much easier; no more relying on word of mouth. This also means that aftercare information is easier to find.
      The problem in the clips that Roly shares with us is that the majority DID make a stupid decision, filmed it, and then uploaded it for clout or whatever. In these situations shaming is perfectly acceptable. They made not 1, but 3 bad choices. And then proceed to make further problems for themselves.
      Yeah, some watch this for entertainment, but some will see this and then use the shock to prevent themselves from repeating the mistakes in future.
      The message should be; don’t be dumb, don’t be impulsive. Be as safe as possible and do your research before booking an appointment. Ask questions about hygiene. Ask about gloves and method. Leave if there are any bad signs.

      @laurenw.3656 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      If I’m having financial difficulties, then maybe it’s not the right time for me to be getting a piercing? I agree give people all their options, but at some point people have to take some responsibility and possibly make sacrifices. I’ve saved up for much of the things in life I’ve wanted. It doesn’t have to be a fancy studio, but going to a reputable studio is the person’s responsibility.

    "Why'd you have to mention that they're foster?" Because most foster parents don't think of foster children as their own. I was in foster care and the ones with biological kids treated us differently from how they treated their kids. And some times you get placed with a family that has a foster kid they're actively trying adopt. You get treated differently than them too. Most foster parents see you as less than or other because you were placed by the state
