      Credit card debt can most definately be due to systemic racism. There is so much address discrimination in the HR and I just heard a white female recruiter talk about how she had to fight to get black people hired because of their names. Black people tend to be out of work longer than white people and have less call backs for jobs. Now if you are buying rims and timbs and lacefront wigs and you're in credit card debt that's different but black people have higher chances of being in debt and in poverty even with college degrees and sometimes because of college degrees. There are black people trying to break into tech recruiting roles and trying to learn how to code and aren't getting hired after ten months.

    • @jasminepearls1047
      @jasminepearls1047 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's corny because even black people with money deal with racism and just because some black people make it does not mean that systemic racism, white-flight and red-lining aren't real. The fact black people are out of work longer than white people, are often denied business loans, have homes with less equity and how a white person wiht a criminal degree have a better chance at getting callbacks than a white person with a degree says a lot about "the white man". Racism isn't something long ago its happens in more sublte yet impactful ways. So just because you can walk into a nice restaurant does not mean that black people in America are treated well on a systemic level.

What you have to worry with is your moral standing, your work ethic, and surrounding yourself with people, (all skin color), that hold those same values. Most homes in white communities have more equity meaning most black people don't get the same amount of money for selling their homes even in the same neighborhood. Pretending that race plays no role in poverty is a lie. And the whole financial literacy thing most black people do not have access to alot of this information. And often times by the time black people find out the rules change. The lie that black people can't make it because they spend too much money on clothes or going out is not true.

    People come here from living in huts with holes in their shoes, work 3 jobs, open businesses, barely know English and manage to raise families and succeed. I came from nothing, drug addict parents, foster care, 5 arrests before age 16, HS drop out. It was my choice to turn my life around and now I do pretty well. Many friends did not make it out, dead, jail, homeless, broke, it was all 100% their choice, their lifestyle they decided to continue. Everyone has a choice. I came here thinking i was going to hear something new but i didn’t. In my opinion…yes Black people need better spending habits but fundamentally we have a resource problem. Not everyone has the same equity when it comes to money and it’s hard to budget when you live on survival. We also have to take into account our culture. Some of our student loans aren’t for ourselves but to help take care of mom, dad, lil bro and lil sis who couldn’t make it out. Those student loans help keep the lights on or bought a few meals for the family. The video had potential but it lacks a lot of range. Institutional racism is one of the reasons why we lack so much. We spent a life time building the American dream for others and creating their generational wealth while trying to survive day by day. I agree we have to do better though and thank you for being a face that looks like us trying to help us. 👍🏽

      Oh I know. He is not addressing that opportunity is preventing blacks from generating wealth regardless of race really. Let’s not act like bigotry, prejudice and discrimination are not cousins of racism. Opportunity is where true challenge lies. So we can blame whomever is the cause of it, whether if it’s white, black, blue or brown people. The bare to entry to these professions are ridiculous. It’s not rocket science to know certain groups of people are systematically kept out of certain conversations. All this hustle culture is band-aiding the situation but not solving the root of the issue. I understand the victim mentality because I don’t blame anyone. However, I am aware that even folks earning high wages are looked by nonblack counterparts as if they are unworthy. So two things can be true but racism is holding this country back in general. Period.

    The white population can't be lump into a category called 'the white man'. Just as you generalizing about 'black people' is not helpful.

    Anthony, color no longer holds people back. Racism is of the few now. I know many blacks who do far better than the whites. We can no longer blame others in today's society for people who have been long dead. Everyone has a chance at college, or vocational school. I worked my way up from a minimum wage job as a grown up to making the wages I have now. My native cousins would love if I blamed the white man for that when in reality, we get loans, grants and all kinds of stuff HANDED to us because of what happened long ago. What I have found that truly holds us back is the lack of knowledge. Our parents did not educate themselves financially and pass it down to our generations the way the white man did. That's why I watch your channel. You teach folks regardless of skin color that they can do this if they apply the knowledge. For example, you have 2 people starting with the same bottom of the barrel knowledge. You try to show them how to apply this knowledge. One succeeds because he applies the knowledge and the other one doesn't. The one who doesn't succeeds, even though you showed them how still sits over there and says, if it weren't for those white folks I could be somebody, when in fact they should have applied the knowledge and made sure to educate THEIR children of that knowledge and how to apply it. Knowledge and the application of it is the real culprit. Not the color of the skin. This is coming from a native Cherokee. The playing field today is more than level. What isn't is the blame factor. A person who wants to stay a victim so they can blame will always be.

      It’s still out there. You see it clearly when your up. So though those folks are high earners and can do more than nonblack counterparts, your still sideyed. The liberals that claim to be cool with you as long as you are not perceived as doing better. My hubby experienced this first hand. Actions moved louder than words.

      @@ItsJustSimpleAsThat_Ang I get what you are saying. The only thing I am pointing out is that you can do it. It's not like it use to be when there wasn't resources to deal with those few that are still racists. I just can't lump all people into one category. There are the others that are out there and they are great people that do root for you and want you to succeed. The point was, no matter the skin color we can all do it if we apply ourselves and seek out the information we need to move to the next level. Thank you for your comment.

      I agree with your sentiments as well. I am a product of poor environment and had to work my way up. Still working my way up lol. Loans to tote too. Yes we need those resources to get a leg up and is really the only out of the situation. While hubby and I sought college education as a way to elevate we have debt from school in order to achieve the success we have today. So I understand not being victim of your circumstances, it was not always peaches and cream. The real world and corporate American and the neighbors reminded us who we were. So yea I’m free but don’t feel completely free of systemic and societal problems.
