- Had a great time meeting up with Dave ( / @localbandography , Jon ( / @thedigitalgramophone , and Brad ( / @h2vinyl ) during my visit to Charlotte, NC. Here’s a recap of the day we had, all of the record stores visited, and everything I picked up. Not to mention some wonderful VCLT. Don’t miss the pictures and a couple videos dropped in the video. And stay until the end for some banter while we had dinner.

Comment 2 of 2: Very nice selections that you found Bill. First time seeing the McCoy Tyner double trio album. Killer lineups. Lunchbox sounds like a cool little shop. Is it mainly all vinyl used and new? Mothership Connection. Fantastic. I am a fan of all of the Parliament releases. Anyways. That was a lot of fun to watch. My first Saturday morning VC video. Maybe my last for the morning too. Out to food shop and yard work. Again. I enjoyed the closing banter. A master class of Carolina record collectors. Thanks for sharing it all Bill. Oh. I forgot to mention. I grabbed an album for you. Not anything earth shattering. But not one that you would see in any local shop around here. I thought of you right away because I have been looking for something cool to send you. I just have to make sure that I added your address to my VC member address book. Have a super day. Comment#2, I still haven’t listened to Suoer Trios yet although I streamed it probably 18 months ago and it is great. I may give it a spin tomorrow morning. Now that the seal is broken for Parliament I’ll be grabbing more. All of the five shops we visited have their individual charm. Lunchbox is definitely renowned and deservingly so.
Oh wow thanks so much Rob for getting something for me. So very thoughtful. I’m very much looking forward to catching your next video to see that Braxton you mentioned. I hope you’re well and keeping cool. I wanted to do some work outside today but the heat index was 108. Crazy. We took a drive to ikea instead. I hope it wasn’t quite as hot for your yardwork today. First off. It was great to see the four of you together sharing a little vinyl convo. I would have loved to have been a fifth wheel. Good morning Bill. Great to see you again. You got some very cool gifts. That Terry Riley sounds promising. I love when they include 7" singles in a full length release. Beach Boys "Holland", Funkadelic "One Nation", Mudhoney "My Brother The Cow", etc... I would love to check out Noble. Funny. I just got finished taping a new video. I showed Anthony Braxton's "Five Comps" on Black Saint. I did not know that he released a Four and Six Comps on Black Saint as well.

Hey Rob, comment #1, you know you are always welcome Rob and that would be amazing if that would ever happen. The Terry Riley is a treat. It’s a lot less minimal but it is really a beautiful record. I wonder if that Braxton five comps was the same one I saw. I really should’ve picked that up as well. The Six compositions is really great. And that’s an interesting misprint on the front cover stating that it’s only four comps. In to your second comment…

Thanks so much Lis! You know you are an inspiration and the bees knees, as they say, to me! The day was great. Having Brad drive up was the icing! Yeah, we all had a great time together. We looked at a lot of records. A LOT of records. Hehe. I hope it hasn't been too hot for you and you're able to get those rays and enjoying your summer! It's been extraordinarily hot here the past couple of weeks. Staying mostly indoors. Keep cool!
Bill, exceptional event! It is beyond just a VC meetup at this point. The Vinylverse in Charlotte is epic. Dave is hilarious at the restaurant at the end of the dig. Great that Brad came up from Florida. Great finds and helluva day! Peace ☮️ Namaste 🙏 the Zonkman

A lot of records put into your hands by everyone. Brad guilted you into the TD box! 😂 I missed that. I would have bought it too. If it’s a band like that which you collect. I’m glad the Sylvian & Czukay album turned out to be a winner. That’s the second time I’ve come across it at Premium Sound. It was a great day. I’ll get around to posting my video sooner than later. ✌🏻
Yeah just about everything was found for me. I didn’t have to do much work. If I come across the Sylvian & Czukay I’m picking it up for you. I wonder if it was the same copy that you saw in Premium. Bought and sold back. Yeah the TD box is Brad’s fault. Records are pristine. Thanks for working it out with Brad to come up. I’d hang with him any day of the week and twice on Sunday’s!

Hey Bill! Sounds like you had an awesome day. Gary Burton Ring is a killer album. Funny thing about that Anthony Braxton title. I have the CD in a complete Black Saint Braxton box, and the title has been changed to Six Compositions. Nice score with the T. Dream box! Love Interstellar Space, so intense with just the sax and drums.
Hey Michael! Yeah, it was such a great day. We looked at a lot of records. And I'm very happy with everything I grabbed. Yeah, Ring has been a long time want so thrilled to have found that one. This is the only time I've come across it so I couldn't pick it up fast enough. And Interstellar Space was the find of the day for sure. I'll have to check out the Braxton box you mentioned. I should've grabbed the Five Compositions too. I'll be on the look out for it. The Six Compositions 1984 album I picked up is fantastic. I hope you're having a good summer!
Hey Bill. Great catching up with you and the fellas. Sweet giftage between you and the finds! Did not know about that Terry and shall be looking further.... Gary's 'Ring' is a longtime favorite traveling album. Oh yes...can't leave behind TD of any kind...I'm not biased or anything though... 🙂That's still my favorite Coltrane, and Plight & Premonition has been a favorite since high school. Hey Carm! It was definitely a fun day! The Tangerine Dream box is a collectors piece for me now. I will be absolutely be listening to it. The records are pristine which made the decision all that much easier. I'm sorry I didn't discover Plight & Premonition sooner. I'm really happy to have picked it up and that Jon let it go to me. He was on the fence on whether or not he wanted to get it.The summer has been nice thus far albeit very hot. The kids have been swimming a lot! I'm starting to think Will is part fish. :) I hope things are well for you also. I caught your Enya video yesterday while relaxing on the couch. I'll be commenting on that shortly. Take care Carm!

I've got one Parliament album, and it's a comp AND I've not even listened to it yet. Glad you met Brad as well. He should be poked LOL! I went on holiday in Denver and found an original pressing of Rush's "Farewell to Kings," now I can compare it with my 40th Anniversary reissue - that'll be on a future video. POOOKE!!!
I still can’t believe Brad drove up. So great to meet and hang with him for the day. Great guy! A Farewell To Kings is a favorite and Xanadu is probably my favorite Rush song.

Very cool record store excursion! The Genesis singles were an awesome find especially since they are UK pressings. Nektar is a favorite of mine. Loved how every album is different from the last.

That had to be the most shops we have hit on one of your trips down Bill. Great finds by all but the Interstellar Space Promo was the find of the day.
What a day Dave! I did visit five shops last year too, Mad Jacks in place of Lunchbox. But yeah we did some damage..and yeah the Coltrane was the find off the day for me. Such an awesome day . I’m glad it worked out with you being off hating day.
Very nice VCLT, nice Jazz pickups, and for me, most of the best deals are in the antique malls around here - some price stuff to move (while some price based on some fantasy world). Everyone needs a little Parliament in their collection.
Hey Kris, ha, yes, I've seen both of those styles of pricing at antique malls. Those McCoy Tyner Milestone releases are all so good. Supertrios doesn't disappoint. I was listening to it just last night and was really enjoying it. I'll be adding some more Parliament eventually. Any recommendations? I hope all is well with you and Marissa and the farm!

Hi Bill, That sounds like a really fun trip to NC and a really nice set of finds. Eberhart Weber is my next ECM focus target. Really enjoy streaming his albums. The Tony Williams album with Holdsworth is a nice find, and who does not need a good copy of Spectrum? Take care, Richard
Hey Richard! It was such a great and fun day. We looked at a lot of records. Yes, Weber is definitely becoming a true favorite. I've been looking for Ring for quite a while and was really happy that it finally turned up. I couldn't pick it up fast enough when I saw it. Definitely not a bad ECM artist to focus on. I'm on the hunt for Silent Feet. Holdsworth and Williams are just on another level. That album is so great. I wish my drums were set up as I'm picking up some classic Tony Williams licks. Ha! Everyone got in on the let's put records into Bill's hands game. It was almost like it was a quest for these guys. I needed someone like you with me to be a buffer and have them put records into your hands. lol. Thanks Steve, it was a great day. We all enjoyed it. I got my first Parliament record. It may be time for a new channel name. Maybe something like Vinylfunk! :)
