The video where I show you normal Friday at uni - studying economics and management at KCL!! Meet my course friends and see the Kings Business School campus - the newly bought Bush House. Of course I had to show you my favourite floor, floor 8 "The Meadow" with the huge beanbags and grass carpet. I also visit the Strand Campus Restaurant - The vault - for the first time and Ammar orders some yummy food there. We then head over to one of the oldest libraries in London, the Maughan Library. I studied in the SE Wing of bush house for a bit before my second tutorial of the day. Tutorials are hard to film in as they're smaller classes where we have more discussion and just go over the lecture questions but I tried my best! Let's not forget the most exciting thing of my week - my Friday meal with dad!!! Mei-Ying is eating well tonightttttt!! Then I return back and my College hall friends come and surprise me after a bit of working as I missed the dinner there. We ended up just chatting to the early hours of the morning and then collapsed to sleep ready to start the weekend! A very average Friday! I hope you've been having a great weekend!

I’m staying at an intercollegiate hall, which basically means all students from London universities can stay there, so that includes King’s College London, UCL, LSE, SOAS, Birkbek and RVC are all here. I really like it cause I’ve met more people outside the KCL uni group and it gives you lots to chat about when making friends etc.
Out of the intercollgiate halls, I’m staying at College Hall but my sister stayed 3 years at international halls so I know quite a lot about that one too. They’re all in perfect walking distance to campus and the facilities are super nice as you can see and being catered is a blessing when your day of lectures finishes at 6pm and you don’t have the energy to go shopping and then to cook it - as well as that there aren’t many lidls or Aldis around for cheap food shopping so it can be a bit pricey. *I would like to warn any colored (brown, yellow, black) student wishing to study at the **_University of Glasgow_** in the United Kingdom to beware of a person called Dr. Michael Kenyon, who is a lecturer at the School of Physics & Astronomy at that university. Kenyon is a narcissistic, twisted racist sociopath. In 1998, Michael Kenyon was an undergraduate at University College London (UCL), and he lived at an accommodation leased by UCL (on Doughty Street, London WC1). From the beginning, he took a dislike to his next door neighbor, an Asian student studying at UCL. This Asian student was quiet and did not bother anyone. But Kenyon was a very different character. He was a manipulative, racist sociopath who hated people in general, but colored people in particular. Kenyon, on one occasion, cut out words from a newspaper and formed the words **_I Am A Paki Wanker_** and pasted the words on a piece of blank A4 paper and stuck it on the Asian student's door late one night, thinking that the Asian student would not discover it until next morning. On another occasion, Kenyon persuaded another resident at the building to write the words **_Vaseline Boy_** next to the Asian student's name on the phone list next to the public phone inside the building, because Kenyon wanted to humiliate the Asian student. The student who wrote the words **_Vaseline Boy_** at Kenyon's behest later regretted it and TipEx-ed it off and informed the Asian student about it. Kenyon also tried to get a couple of friends of the student who wrote **_Vaseline Boy_** to beat up the Asian student. That is how much he hated his Asian neighbor.*
*_(In the U.K., a "Paki" is a derogatory and offensive word that refers to Asian people from the Indian subcontinent. In other words, "Paki" would be as offensive a word as "nigger" is to black people, or "Chink" is to Oriental people)._*
*So what exactly triggered Kenyon's pathological hatred for his Asian neighbor (apart from the fact he was Asian)? Well, the Asian student's "crime" (in Kenyon's eyes) was to report Kenyon to UCL's Residence Office about the persistent loud music that came out of Kenyon's stereo **_every single night,_** and he would regularly play his music until 3 am. Yes, A M. Having asked Kenyon to respect his right to sleep on numerous occasions, with Kenyon completely ignoring him, the Asian student had no choice but to take this matter to the UCL authorities. UCL's Residence Officer wrote a warning letter to Kenyon, and this set him off, and his campaign of racial harassment against the Asian student intensified.*
*The Asian student, after months of racial abuse, decided to move to another residence altogether. But this did not stop Kenyon from continuing to harass his victim. Kenyon got a hold of the Asian student's mobile phone statement after he (the Asian student) had left the Doughty Street residence (this statement was mistakenly sent to the student's old Doughty Street address), which allowed Kenyon to find out the student's mobile phone number. Kenyon left an anonymous message (with a heavily disguised voice) on the student's voicemail, which went like this: **_You are a Paki waaaaaaaaaaaaanker._** Imagine how the Asian student felt when he heard the message. The student took this matter to UCL's Dean of Students who strongly urged him to report this matter to the Police. A police report was lodged at the **_Holborn Police Station_** in London on 4 March 1999 against the sick, racist coward, and the police treated this as a hate crime.*
I love how efficient you videos are. Instead of showing you and Ammar walking while you were talking you cut to what you were doing later on (which otherwise would have just had music playing in the background).

No I didnt! I had an unexpected gap year and went travelling but didn't do any work experience at a bank. I've run my own business for quite a few years though that was good experience and I would definitely recommend working or doing something to make your personal statement stand out like insight days etc!

I know this an old video but I just stumbled across it & I really love this insight into the uni & your life there! I’m from the States & was accepted in February into King’s for a year study abroad program but unfortunately, Covid means I may never get to live out that dream. I’ve wished to move to London for years and years and while these may be hard times, I’m not going to give up on King’s or my dream happening (hopefully) sometime in the future!

Hey Mei-Ying! I just got an offer to study at King's and your vlog has made me even more excited! I do have a question about catering at college hall: since there isn't any lunch served, what's the best/cheapest ways to get lunch? Is it easy to buy groceries and store them in your dorm, or try and save leftovers to use for lunch? And no 10 years of bad luck for me!!!

What a coincidence this video landed on my feed. I’ve actually been researching masters programs abroad (I’m from Seattle in the states) for dietetics and Kings college came up as having a great program! The campus is so beautiful! Definitely will look into it more. I won’t be graduating from undergrad for another year and a half.

Yes it really is beautiful! It's not really much of a campus uni father a city uni and it's spread across London but the bits of buildings that kings own are so beautiful and full of history!
KCL doesnt have a campus. Its a bunch of buildings all over London. Kinda problematic when you wanna hang out with your friends, but they're based in Denmark Hill or Guys'

Ahh yes uni is so much fun with the right crowd!! The work is also a killer yes... I think breakdowns are a regular fun occurrence and they certainly bond you with your course mates haha!! I'm sure you'll have a great time when you get there 💙
Do you know much about Stamford street apartments and what the rooms are like? I’m moving in soon and I’ve heard that it’s not that nice there and that the en-suite bathrooms are horrible.

how math heavy is the economics and management course at kcl? i’m studying IB and i don’t know whether it’s the right course for me as a lot of people have told me that the economics courses are quite mathematical.
First term we studied core maths - like integration and so on and second term we did statistics - so there was coursework on data analysis using different technology softwares which was quite interesting but it was only a quarter of our degree. They do hold lots of extra sessions for students who need help as many people have learnt different skills when it comes to maths.

hiya! i got an offer from King’s for psychology last week! i was wondering how you find the expenses of living in london? is it harder to manage your money in comparison to outside of london? also, i was wondering what the nightlife is like? are there any good student nights?

Ofc London is quite expensive compared to other university but I have to admit being in a catered hall I've only bought 4/5 meals out over the past 2.5 months! I'm rather stingy with money so I'm always saving food from the huuuuuge 3 course dinners and breakfasts to have at lunch etc and I walk everywhere. The nightlife is also quite good compared to other places but entry can be a bit more expensive on some student nights e.g. the first Freshers event was £16... The benefits far outweigh the short term financial instability so I'd say go for it. Many make it work, and so will you. It'll be hard generally where ever you go anyway.

And any advice on which one to pick - closeness to strand campus, best atmosphere / people, best location etc ? Sorry for all the questions !
Hey there thank you so much! My sister did law at kings and graduated this year funnily enough. She stayed at international halls for all three years however ik for a fact that college hall is better ;) not just bias but it's smaller so there's a stronger community vibe and the food is good and the location is better to more shops and tube stations and it's only a 20 minute walk in the morning! I love the walk too because it's on the north of the river and I get to walk past theatres and beautiful building 🌌 would definitely recommend intercollegiate because meeting people from different unis adds to the experience and makes the conversations more interesting etc 😁

Thank you so much and yes uni is a completely new experience but it's great if you have lovely people around to help settle you in. I used the Lenovo yoga Book tablet!! It's the absolute best. My sister got it in the black Friday sales a few years ago and I've linked it in the description and in the pinned comment at the top for others asking! It's just like a surface pro, which everyone else on my course has, but it isn't £1.5k!!! Hope you're doing well Liz 💜

I included some things about clubs that I ran and my leadership roles as head girl and I also spoke about business books and leaders that I took inspiration from. I’m not entirely sure - it’s dependent on the course and always stated on the course webpage. Sometimes they offer foundation courses (so an extra year) so you can covert onto the program afterwards!

S'cuse meh, but what are the " tutorials " classes? Is it included in the degree or you choose to do em cuz why not?
They are for additional support, it is very much like a class environment. Some tutorials are mandatory to attend to, for instance if you need to debrief a Science practical - stuff like that. But some are like reviewing and revising, which you can do on your own if you'd prefer.

Its in London so much more expensive than the midlands
It is, but not as much as you would expect. What really makes the difference is rent and nightlife, but if you don't go out much and are eligible for the King's Affordable Accomodation Scheme then it's not that bad
How intense is study at King's College?
It’s definitely not as intense as places like oxford or Cambridge as the term times are pretty similar to other universities but it is hard work with around 12 contact hours a week!
No. It is a lot of work. I currently study at King’s now. So do expect to me worked very hardly. Especially for a humanities subject like Spanish.
