My guess is that a lot of those moves were made illegal due to their high risk. What is the point of having amazing athletes if they’re all gonna break their necks?
@@DanetteBall naw. The code of points changed for one. And also gymnast and coaches favored less risky routines to make the chances of medaling easier. That's why you don't see more difficult beam or uneven bar mounts.
The 10.0 system allowed more variety, which is good. The open ended skill system allows higher skilled athletes to take advantage of doing more difficult skills while not being punished with loses to lower skill routines. Need to find a balance....
That is a skill I wish would come back, replace the wolf turn perhaps. I do not actually know, but i suspect it got devalued as it does look a bit on the dangerous side.
Incredible talent and real perfectionists, amazing
I actually find the 1990-2000´s routines more exciting than the current ones…

It’s cuz they were doped up
BINGO Plum! I remember most of the '90s gymnasts I watched on TV back then
The entirety of the 50s was me screaming “I can do that”, some of the 60s to.
It’s all tumbling, leaps and spins now. All the grace has gone. Maybe the old routines will come back but with a difference
let's be honest, older routines were way more exciting to watch

The eighties, where gymnastics seased to be a womern's sport and became a little girls sport!
through years, girls became more bulkier and less elegant with loss of balance and artistics
BINGO Yves Saint!
