    It is cheaper to buy directly from www.wallcontrol.com/pegboard/ and try 15.00% off code: LazyGuyDIY15. Also this post is super helpful: graymatterlifting.wordpress.com/2020/08/10/wall-control-1-year-review/

    I have some of this for smaller items and love it. For larger items and covering a wall check out Proslat, a 4'x8' section is about $160. Way harder install (like a million screws) but super durable, flexible attachments and can support pretty heavy stuff.

    I wish I had used wall control stuff when I made my modular pegboard wall. I used plastic grid ones from home depot that are 16x16 squares. It works great and cleans the gym up amazingly well. But I love how the wall control ones are heavier duty and the pegs attach to the slots.

    • @hawkeytown
      @hawkeytown 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Use the pegs or hooks to put your knee/elbow sleeves on horizontally so they can stay open, air out and dry. Works a lot better than squishing them in a basket. Also they make angled racks you can attach to the peg holes (put min on the bottom) to hold your shoes.

    Hey Brandon, been appreciating a lot of your videos as I look to start a home gym! Had a question that is probably more relevant to your "home gym for $1000 vid"/"Whats still in stock vids" but wasn't sure if comments on older videos would get visibility... so decided to just post here! :)
    I'm looking to get a full cage/power rack but on the lower end. For the Rep Fitness cages, you said that the lower end ones (ex. PR-1100) are in stock but most manufacturers have similar products at that price range. Would you say there is one power rack that stands above the competition at the $4-500 price range? I looked at that Titan T-2 (T-3 not in stock...) and saw the prices were similar. Is it safe to go with any of the cages at this price range?
    Thanks for any help! Loved this video as well btw!

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey happy to help (feel free to post on the old videos as I see all of em). I don't think there's one that stands out. A lot of manufacturers (especially importers) have clones of the same rack and just put their badge on them. Try to find one that's in stock and has the lowest net cost to you. One thing to consider is on a lot of these budget friendly racks is that they usually have limited expandability/adaptability to build out.

    In this episode of BCD's OCD.... (never gets old!) While I can relate to BCD on the neat tip (and was seriously considering Wall Control for my attachments back in 2019) I had an epiphany one day and decided against this approach. I realized that I cannot see myself ever being able to assign or commit a particular spot on the Wall Control platform to a specific attachment ("paralysis through analysis?" Pffft! ), as one's attachment collection is always growing, right? Instead, I will most likely create 1-2, ceiling-mounted, 'stations' (think ceiling-mounted, pull-up bar or pipe) and place them near my cable machines and hang my cable attachments like clothing, so to speak. It will have 'captured' sliding hooks (inspired by those weird, theft-proof, hangers you'd find in some hotel room's closets) or perhaps I'll simply use s-hooks. This proposed set-up would offer a nice combination of practical (close to the cable machines) and flexibility (for attachment collection expansion.) It could be done using actual, branded, ceiling or wall-mounted, pull-up bars or done DIY style using pipes from a home improvement or plumbing supply store. Hmmm, as I type this, I was thinking that IG ballers might consider repurposing Rogue's Low-Profile, wall-mounted, Jammer Pull-up bar for this proposed cable attachment storage approach. Those IG ballers with power racks might also consider the possibility of repurposing Rogue's Kid's Pullup bar or even Titan's (whoops, threw-up in my mouth a little there) "Youth" pull-up bar for a tool less, non-permanent, height-adjustable, solution.

    For the mag-grips, do the standard hooks work or do you need the larger medium hooks?

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought my hooks off amazon, got a variety pack so just used the shortest I could that would still allow them to mount.

  • @brainchilddesigner
    @brainchilddesigner 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do the mounting points need to be centered perfectly on the studs ?
    Or, can you attach them elsewhere on the boards to hit the stud?
    Could you mount a brace on the wall intothe studs and then attach the boards to the brace?
    Did you use standard mounting attachments or did you purchase the ones from Wall Control?

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The boards have holes in them for mounting which you can't change. They do come with wall anchors if you're unable to get it in the stud however. I used a mix variety of attachments. I link the ones I got in the description (I bought all mine from amazon).

      @@brandonhoover2120 Not saying they have issues, I love the set I have (4 of them in galvanized steel in my garage), but peg board storage is simply too "small" for gym equipment IMO -- the baskets and hooks just don't seem ideal for storing things like knee wraps, collars, etc... at least not for the amount of them I have. If you have limited equipment and space, sure... if you're a gym equipment hoarder like me, it's just insufficient.

      I have some of those for my garage and rakes/brooms/etc but I haven't installed it yet lol. I think both might have their purpose, but for me in this space I think the wall control made more sense. I also have only had it up for like 3-4 days so I wouldn't put much into my opinion just yet!

    • @michaellove456
      @michaellove456 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BasementBrandon That's fair. The flexibility of the track systems are nice, but for my garage I bought a pack of hooks from Amazon for like $25 and just drilled a 2x8 to the wall. I also painted it to the color of the wall. Then I just screw the hooks up wherever I like. If you have the tools already it's a fairly cheap option. That said, in my garage I don't mind if things look slightly less professional. Weirdly I'm about some aesthetics in my basement gym.
      That aesthetic is iron dungeon though so it's not too serious.
