    Contractually obligated to talk about how the Ulfen Guard is inspired by the IRL Varangian Guard, which was a bunch of Scandinavian, Norman, Anglo-Saxon, Kievan Rus, and German homies who served as bodyguards and elite warriors of the Byzantine Emperors. Turisas does an incredible song about them called "March of the Varangian Guard".
    Special interest infodump over. Great video, looking forward to watching the rest of these!

      After 1066, the Byzantines were really confused why their guards sometimes absolutely hated each other, not realizing that the Normans and Anglo-Saxons weren't Norse, even though they all spoke similar languages, and fought similarly.

    Good content, but your maps don't really match what you say.
    1. Before the First Army of Exploration Taldor was mostly confined to the Principalities of Taldaris, by the coast, and did not rule over Verduran Forest or the lands north of it. That was the situation at 1 AR.
    2. The First Army of Exploration in 37 AR conquered the territory of modern Taldor, Galt, Kyonin and Sevenarches. but did not conquer Andoran.
    3. The Second Army of Exploration in 499 AR conquered the territories north of Lake Encarthan (modern Razmiran, Ustalav, Lastwall, and western River Kingdoms), but not central and eastern River Kingdoms.
    4. The Third Army of Axploration conquered also the lands of Inland Cheliaz, not only the coast, including modern Molthune.
    5. Isger was not conquered until the time of the Seventh Army of Exploration in 2133 AR.
    The official map showing the expansion in Taldor can be found in "Taldor, The First Empire" book.

    • @TheMythKeeper
      @TheMythKeeper  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are absolutely correct sir, thanks for pointing it out! Its because I drew the original set of maps for my general history video, and then I was too lazy to alter them for my Taldor Deep Dive even though some of the borders were slightly off. I was working from two different sources at the time that had slightly contradictory information. So this video is based on Taldor: The First Empire but my overall Golarion world video was based on the Inner Sea World Guide and other related sources.

    Tian Xia is pronounced "tyan shya". X's are SH's in Mandarin, and that name is very Mandarin.
    Also, I dunno where Paizo got the data from, but that list of noble title is out of order.
    Emperor>King>Archduke>Duke>Marquis>Count>Margrave>Earl>Viscount>Baron>Baronet>Reeve.
    And viscount is pronounced "vy-count", not "vice count".
    You pronounce duergar correctly, though. For some dumb reason everyone thinks it's "doo-ergar", but it's derived from the Nordic word dvergir. So good job on that.

    Your're videos are excellent, well scripted and easy to listen too.
    A few of my young player want to play Gladiators... why would they not... but most of civilised Golarion seems that Gladiatorial Arenas would be outlawed or at least illegal.
    Are there legal arenas?
    One player wants to take the "Celebrity" multi-class feat feat... how does that work if these entertaining, deadly, paid, fights are illegal?

    • @TheMythKeeper
      @TheMythKeeper  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are tons of places where gladiatorial arenas are legal. There's a big arena in Absalom, a big arena in Katapesh (where anything goes!) and of course in the River Kingdom of Tymon there is basically an entire country of gladiators where the ruler of the kingdom is the mightiest gladiator in all the land (see my River Kingdoms deep dive for more on that). I imagine Celebrity would work even for an underground or illegal fighter, it just means people have to be aware of the cities underground activities to recognize them. Or they might wear a famous 'mask' which might allow them to mask their celebrity if required - that would be for you as a GM to determine.

The fact that they are good ones is a well-known, but they are mostly all should be killed here during dragon plague, which dealed massive damage to empire, and killed dozens of people. And due to their great attachment to their history, shouldn't they kinda hate metallic dragons? I just see that like very interesting think

    • @TheMythKeeper

      They're described in the War for the Crown AP. If your GM is running it you may wish to ask for an extract of the right pages (Reaper's Right Hand, Pg 79). Their house symbol is a shooting star coming over a series of mountains. They are unparalleled in their arcane expertise. Their patriarch and head of house is Count Cypristian Merrosett who rules over a county in the Prefecture of Avin (somewhere near Vigil's Rest I believe). They're also mentioned in the 1E Knights of the Inner Sea book though I have no recollection of what details you might find in there.
