    I'm PA Dutch as well and I've cut out the bad parts of fruits and veggies. If I can't use something right away, I freeze it. Most veggies make a good pureed soup, so doesn't matter if they are limp unfrozen.
    Fruit can be made into jam (what I did with the soon to go bad raspberries)
    We're so used to the picture perfect produce in super markets and don't seem to realize the cost of that "perfection".
