Hey I’m trying to make a parts list for a gaming pc and so far I have a decent one I think but when I build it I was wondering if there i anything I should watch out for or get besides just the parts

Hi Kyle, don't think you'll ever read this but have been watching your videos for some years now got introduced to your channel because of Paul's Hardware that I've followed for years and years as I'm a tech fan. I have never built anything or even had a gaming pc. I recently started streaming 2 months ago hence me creating my TH-cam channel where I just save the gods of the streams. I want to congratulate you and say how much I love your videos and all your content. I hope you guys are keeping safe with this whole covid situation. Keep doing what you are doing. I plan on saving up all the Twitch revenue I get to build my very first pc and everything I know about PCs and the DIY fest I owe to you and Paul. I want to build this same rig, maybe cut some corners with the case, but I want to be able to stream what I play since I am currently streaming off a Dell Latitude E5470 laptop that has an i7-6600, and the integrated intel 520 Nd secondary AMD E7 360. Which I know is nothing. But I'm planning on making it work. I will probably send you a picture of my set up but I'm kind of embarrassed to show it haha. @@jhplayz298 gtx 1050 ti, i5 7500, seagate 500gb hdd. Crucial 8gb 2666 mhz but upgrade to corsairs rgb pro 2x8 3600 mhz, no ssd and it was a mistake but it is what it is . Soon im gonna upgrade my pc when I get the money.
@@teifangu2049 It is by far the least compelling in the new Ryzen stack. If you are going for a pure gaming PC, save the money and get a 5600x. If you want a more production focused machine that can also game, 5900x is great. If you are really focused on production with a little gaming sometimes (or just want the top of the line hands down), the 5950x is for you. The 5800x just doesn't have a place at it's current price point.
Very useful video! I just got many of the same parts and will be doing a similar build in a few weeks. The flash bios bit and gpu mounting is particularly relevant.
I like everything about it for the most part except the “fractal” design on the front and those stupid cable organizer things in the back. The price is a bit much imo
It's over engineered to a fault. Those plastic cable management things in the back suck and the screwless side panel popout mechanism is so bad b/c it's not really secure and can just fall out if any cable is pressed against it.
Watching you move expensive components around with one arm and toss others gives me anxiety yet I'm amazed you do it so well, been waiting for a Lyle build/cameo on the future vids :D

I rebuild my own pc after 3 years.... While changing from team blue i7 77k to red R7 58x. Best feeling ever.. and using it to play flight sim.. boy oh boy.. i almost cry

Speaking of cases: anyone have any case recommendations? I’m looking for a black/grey case with good airflow, cable management, and a psu shroud. Having a hard time finding one that isnt super expensive or severely lacking in some areas.
I felt your RGB rant to my core. I just tried to do the same thing with my computer and after an hour of frustration and somehow managing to break EVERYTHING, I eventually gave up and stuck with rainbow puke. 3 different RGB programs and none of them want to do anything. I don't understand why developers are making RGB so freaking complicated now.

Nice build Kyle!!! It looks purdy. But... 1. That case needs some zip tie mounts to fully dress up the back panel wiring. 2. 360° & 420° radiators need more hose length to mount the radiator properly in the front of the case. -just about EVERY brand. 3. Freaking RGB software companies need to have a meeting, so they can all play together. 4. You should be able to download Asus Aurora Sync & then the ICue should be able to control the mobo RGB. (Commander Pro may be needed).
Coming from a design engineer who loves pc build videos and seeing how companies build their stuff I totally see a rail system with either a spring loaded or screw down angular pin lock would be possible for them to add to case design and maybe have the smaller channels tabs be spring loaded or at least moveable so you can have them even with the outer tabs or set them for smaller cables or just do c channels and not care because most of us just put a bunch of cables in those.

Fractal makes some of the best pc cases, especially with their Meshify series. I have the Meshify C and it is a great case to build in and allows a lot of airflow. Great tear down of Fractals new case.

Oh damn! Now I have a reason to change out my case. I have a Meshify C and found it a little small for what I want to do with it, but I didnt want to give up the amazing air flow the case has.
@@sh066 It's not a heat bubble lol. air rises so as long as rad is higher than aio it's fine. The only thing with tubes at the top is a little noise but I need to have tubes up with my case and there is no noise.
@@AdamLazhar Isn't the problem that with rad tubes at the top, the pump will be sucking air? So doesn't matter is rad is higher or not, it's still bad. Bad rad.
@@jonboy602 The way i've seen it is that if the tubes are at the bottom of the rad then air might block the path of water and allow less water to flow. I've been using a really shady aio I've had for 5 years and it's always been mounted tubes up and above the water block. I just switched to an H150i that doesn't physically work any other direction and cooling is perfectly fine. Everyone seems to be taking steve from GN's words exactly about this but he also said tubes at top is okay as long as it's above the pump. Only downside is a little noise which I can't hear with mine so far

I know iCue can be used to configure some Asus AuraSync components. But the only RGB components I have are from Asus and Corsair so I can't speak for other brands. I also like the idea for changing up those cable management anchor points by making them adjustable. However, I think that would be best left as an extra case option (sort of like being able to choose between tempered glass and a standard side panel for some cases). I know many people wish the extras that companies sell would be included with the case, but if that did happen, it would drive the price up and make the case less desirable to builders with a lower budget, who don't have any need for the extras. Maybe they (case companies/manufacturers) can make a compromise, a "best of both worlds" per se.
The lower backside cable cover is to help ensure cables don't put too much pressure on the back side panel and inadvertently release it, as it doesn't have screws locking it on. I think Gamers Nexus mentioned this in their review of this case or the Define 7. Not so much an issue with well-managed cables.

1. That case needs some zip tie mounts to fully dress up the back panel wiring.
2. 360° & 420° radiators need more hose length to mount the radiator properly in the front of the case. -just about EVERY brand.
3. Freaking RGB software companies need to have a meeting, so they can all play together.
4. You should be able to download Asus Aurora Sync & then the ICue should be able to control the mobo RGB. (Commander Pro may be needed).

Coming from a design engineer who loves pc build videos and seeing how companies build their stuff I totally see a rail system with either a spring loaded or screw down angular pin lock would be possible for them to add to case design and maybe have the smaller channels tabs be spring loaded or at least moveable so you can have them even with the outer tabs or set them for smaller cables or just do c channels and not care because most of us just put a bunch of cables in those.

Fractal makes some of the best pc cases, especially with their Meshify series. I have the Meshify C and it is a great case to build in and allows a lot of airflow. Great tear down of Fractals new case.

@@sh066 It's not a heat bubble lol. air rises so as long as rad is higher than aio it's fine. The only thing with tubes at the top is a little noise but I need to have tubes up with my case and there is no noise.
@@AdamLazhar Isn't the problem that with rad tubes at the top, the pump will be sucking air? So doesn't matter is rad is higher or not, it's still bad. Bad rad.
@@jonboy602 The way i've seen it is that if the tubes are at the bottom of the rad then air might block the path of water and allow less water to flow. I've been using a really shady aio I've had for 5 years and it's always been mounted tubes up and above the water block. I just switched to an H150i that doesn't physically work any other direction and cooling is perfectly fine. Everyone seems to be taking steve from GN's words exactly about this but he also said tubes at top is okay as long as it's above the pump. Only downside is a little noise which I can't hear with mine so far

I know iCue can be used to configure some Asus AuraSync components. But the only RGB components I have are from Asus and Corsair so I can't speak for other brands. I also like the idea for changing up those cable management anchor points by making them adjustable. However, I think that would be best left as an extra case option (sort of like being able to choose between tempered glass and a standard side panel for some cases). I know many people wish the extras that companies sell would be included with the case, but if that did happen, it would drive the price up and make the case less desirable to builders with a lower budget, who don't have any need for the extras. Maybe they (case companies/manufacturers) can make a compromise, a "best of both worlds" per se.
The lower backside cable cover is to help ensure cables don't put too much pressure on the back side panel and inadvertently release it, as it doesn't have screws locking it on. I think Gamers Nexus mentioned this in their review of this case or the Define 7. Not so much an issue with well-managed cables.
