Hang in there!! You are NOT the only one feeling this way. It will come… This is my 26th year and I am suffering from anxiety that I have not experienced in the past. You are awesome!!! The fact you are worried about it shows how much you care!!!! Hugs from North Carolina! We feel your pain!! ❤️🙏🏻
I'm at my school still because I love it - we all work well together and our admin is amazing. That said, this year has been hard. We're all exhausted, stressed, and just plain tired.
Iḿ watching this video a couple years after it was made, but just want to pass on that you are not alone! I taught for over 10 years before I took several years off to stay home and raise my own kids. I was in the middle of getting back into teaching and then.....Covid hit. One of my first groups of kids I had was 100% online. I LOVED that group of kids. The following year I moved back into the classroom and it. Was. Rough. The ¨mourning¨ you speak of....I totally get that! I had an amazing group of kids online and even though I loved my in-person kids, it just left me feeling like not a good teacher so many days. Anyways, I see you and think I can relate to how you feel (or were feeling two years ago!!). Thank you for all your videos!!!
You definitely don’t get that feeling at every school so I totally understand you wanting to hang onto it! I was in a school that was NOT a good fit last year and thought I hated teaching but I’ve moved to a new school this year and it is like night and day. 1000x happier. A good fit is so important!
Every year my husband says I moan about my new class, it always takes a while to bond with them. The last year was very intense with being in a solitary bubble and I had a very challenging bunch, so actually it has been a little easier for me to transfer my allegiance to my new class. Generally however I pine for my old class for a while every new school year!
It's a difficult time and after twenty years in the classroom I've had years where it took longer to connect with a class. Circumstances, personalities etc. It can just take time. At the end of the day focus on what went well! Prayers for your year.

Yes we don’t know what normal is at the moment. We have teachers walking out the door and giving up. Hang in there and enjoy the good moments.
