    Good glad you got it sorted,sometimes you have to apply a bit of solder to help it get the heat into the joint.thanks for watching.

    Cool Glad you got it sorted, it sounded as if not enough heat from the iron,glad the video helped you out.

    I like the dc jack with the cable going to the board instead of soldered to the board. All companies should do it that way. Thanks. Good video.

    Hi Khalid Mehmood, I have sent you a link that may help you out,HP DV8 aren't the best to get apart, i would test the power adapter first and check that it isn't the flex on power adapter as this sometimes brakes so it could be the power adapter and not the dc jack.Hope this helps.

    I have a 60 watt solder iron and I'm replacing the jack on a samsung np-305e5a and I'm having issues getting the solder to give to the point of releasing the old jack. I bought a solder pump but this jack just doesn't want to give. I have never had this issue like this before the solder iron is 60 w but cheap I'm wondering if the iron went out already. Any advise or am I just not getting a good connection with the solder iron?because once I pull it away and try to melt the solder wire it melts.

    Your thumbnail is deceiving, it shows a picture of a DC jack in the motherboard but in the video you deal with an external jack.

    Why did you not SAVE TIME, and test for 19.5 DC volts at the DC female socket as a FIRST step?

    • @fixitdaz
      @fixitdaz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i Don't remember why not, but yes you are correct best practice is to check output voltage from the power supply and output of the dc jack on the pcb

    The volts from the wall is fine, but when I test the plug after the brick, it gives a voltage reading that jumps all over the place, from 18v to 40v and in between. My adapter is rated for 18.5v. Also it won't charge my laptop anymore and forced a shutdown which prompted me testing it.

    Nice video :) I'm trying to figure out if this applies to my situation. When I plug my charger into the wall, the light on the charger lights up. But then, when I plug the charger into the laptop, the light goes out on the charger and nothing happens. The only way to get the light on the charger on again to to unplug and plug it back into the wall outlet. I've taken the whole thing apart all the way down to the motherboard and I don't see anything obvious. I did notice that a few screws were missing that used to hold the motherboard in place but I doubt that would be the cause. I have also tried taking the battery out and powering the laptop without the battery. Any ideas?

      sounds to me like you have a short circuit somewhere. try another charger on it first and go from there. I have seen this before.

    • @swopizyt
      @swopizyt 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need all the screws that holds the motherboard because they are grounding the electricity the computer itself so you don't get electricity going through the metal plate. it can also be that you screwed the wrong screws in the wrong holes so that maybe the screw that are in the wrong holes actually leading electricity where it should not be! That might work for you i think :) I hope you solve it :)

    I wonder why they went with double wires in this laptop. Is that common?

    Hi
    I own the Acer Aspire E1-571G which its power jack was loose and sometimes not charging the battery , once I open the laptop and tried to fix the power jack loose connection wire , however suddenly my Iron solder shortcutted to the power jack body and sparked and my laptop never turn on anymore , I guess polar diode connected to power input socket may harmed
    I really appreciated to have any advice or repair procedure for this issue

    Awsome video! I have a problem whith my laptop regarding bad jack dc. I first noticed the problem when my power adapter started to heat up at an alarming level and after that my battery started to die on me, it charges now about 15-20% of it's original value. I have a HP DV7 1095oe and am thinking of getting a dc power jack socket plug on ebay to fix this. Is it worth it?
    Thanks!
