All time best ending to a chase scene ever. The way the whole bus crowd protected him so casually? AWESOME.
He is no threat to them and my gues is that these citizens have a big problem with the police. :)

I love the fact they didn't turn Reachers car into some kind of on the rails superhero car during the chase.
They actually showed both the strengths and weaknesses of a big muscle car. All that power. No traction control. Understeer. Torquesteer. Fishtailing...
The most subtle bit is how easily the Audi made corners the bigger car couldn't but couldn't hope to pull away in a straight line.
I really love the little bit of realism injected into this whole scene.
Ha! Bang on, I was thinking "yeah that rear wheel with possi traction will whip you around like that" and then the same damn thing went through my mind as the Audi just takes the corner like it's on rails. My only beef is that he would have flooded it when he was trying to re start it :)
It is interesting that someone who hitch hikes and rides the bus can whip a stick shift like they've known it forever. Or more important, known whether the clutch engages at the bottom of the travel or the top. But the flooding the gas makes sense considering driving a "new to you" car. and yes, it does show the difference between old and new cars very well.
But i wish this video began with him palming the cue ball...
@@albertgaspar627 As far as the books are concerned, Reacher can drive, he just doesn't prefer it. He's driven higher-ranking officers around in a motor-pool jeep when ordered, but on his own, he'd rather let someone else drive. Which is why he's out of his element when it comes to car chases.
@@albertmartinez2539 Thank you, I haven't read the books. I've driven stick shift every day all my life, but I'm sure for someone who hasn't done it in a while, there is a little learning curve initially.

This is one of the best scenes from this movie. I love how the people at the bus stop immediately help him out. Best part of the scene.

I don't know why but everytime I see him shrug in that scene I kind of wish he had done that big stupid grin he did from risky business

With surround sound turned up and a basic knowledge of driving vehicles into the ground this is hands down the best car chase scene in any movie your ever gonna watch.

and while the accusations are front page, when they are proven false, not one god d.amn word in the press.
but the ones on the Left seems to get off with no problem.
like say, bill clinton who was accused by multiple women, one of who I knew personally, and not one damn thing happened to him.
or the number of times epstein got away with shit.

Pittsburgh police must be REALLY unpopular for a bunch of people to be willing to stay quiet when a complete stranger being chased by the cops hides out among them. That guy with the hat must have especially not liked them, lol.
I think it was Jack's demeanor also lol if a guy in a white tank top, with blood all over him, came running up to them, they probably would've yelled, "yo! He's right here officers!" But he came slowly walkin up with class lol like d*mn, this guy's earned this one
People in pittsburgh would have turned him in, at least a few people in that crowd would have turned him in because it was the right thing to do.

It is never just one car they destroy. They use several for scenes like these. Keep track of the inspection sticker dates. At least 4 different cars.
I wouldn't be surprised if they restored it for the scene so many it wouldn't have been restored otherwise. Also I wouldn't be surprised if it was a half ass job just to look good for the movie

That was the best scene of the whole movie. The whole hat trading thing was epic.
Shoutout to a movie that DOESN'T cut to showing him work the stick every time he shifts gears. We see him working the stick from the driver's seat and actually hear the car shifting gears. That's some good filmmaking right there.
There's just something special about a very angry red v8 going all out. Even with the front end slightly crumpled it still looks menacing.
Finally something realistic with a real undrivable old muscle car :D
I do hate that the scene cut out when it did. The cap fellow's smug smile at the end was priceless.

If you look closely throughout that scene you’ll see that the registration sticker in the window of his car has different months on it so they used several different cars during filming.
Just like every movie., with car chases.
I just noticed that too. Being from PA it really stood out to me. They should have done a little more work to make the continuity work. But it was a really great movie car chase otherwise.

This movie had it all for me. Great story. Great Pittsburgh locations. Great bar fight scene. Great car chase. This movie actually had my two favorite type of vehicles in it. A 68-72 Chevrolet body style and a second generation camaro small scene…and Rosemary pike looked just perfect with her blonde hair. Not “ too beautiful” but very appealing. Great casting for all the actors. Where did they get that guy in the auto shop to play Gary, Gary looks and acted just like a weasel…

wish this video clip began with Reacher palming the cue ball. but yeah, why tear up a classic when they still make ugly Dodge Chargers. Or Camaros. the stunt men could get even the V6 models up to speed quick enough for a stunt.

kudos for cutting the clip short one second of the smile the gentleman gives him when he gets his baseball cap back. That smile really ties the scene together man. And you missed it by a second. You shouldn't be allowed anywhere near movie clips.

The part that gets me… when Reacher is on the bus directly in the view of the “detective” cop… but doesn’t seem to have peripheral awareness!

Great movie, Cruise did a great job as Reacher. Can't think of any other "A list" actor that could've done it better.

tearing up that classic car and how is that car still on the road after all the damage he has done
1. Just a movie. 2. Multiple cars. 3. Reinforced stunt car with additional support where needed. 4. Several of those impacts would have totaled any vehicle. I can remember jumping an old ‘71 Plymouth satellite once… bumped the front while landing and that’s all she wrote. Almost zero support behind the bumper for the radiator base, pushed the radiator into the fan, end of car. We got it running but the front end was never the same. 🤣
tbh: if that chase would be real, the modern audi would put the classic into scrap in no time. I love the film and the chase and everything... but if it would be real... the SS would have no chance!

wild take but the black dude gave off feelers that he was a vet (his boots looked like summer combat boots) and recognized Reacher as one. The second he gave him his cap the 2nd guy moves in as u say working class to do the same.
I've always like Tom Cruise as an action actor. He always has great facial expressions and body language. And even with his size disadvantage, with the help of good direction, practice, and advantageous camera angles; the choreography goes quite well after the speed up of the fight sequences. I was disappointed when they came out with REACHER the series and Tom already had enough money (and was getting too old for this SH**) But was mildly surprised and later impressed with Alan Ritchson falling into the character of Jack Reacher. Tough act to follow but I think he played the part well enough to continue the legacy and his physical size was a bonus to the characters toughness and durability.

Imagine a whole crowd of people implicated in this mans crimes if their collective judgement was wrong.
Kind of funny that 'the people' can feel that Jack Reacher is not a threat to them, and this is just a whole thing.
Thing is.......it's stated quite a few times throughout the books that Reacher doesn't like to drive and prefers that someone else do it. Hence the constant hitch hiking.

My friend hopped out, snatched the keys from the other guy’s car and proceeded to give a gentle beating. 40 years later my pal is schizophrenic then died of a stroke while homeless. There are some people you shouldn’t challenge. RIP, Jeff Daniels.
You'd think that people in movies would eventually understand that if you just slow down a little bit, you'll actually get there faster instead of skidding everywhere because the road is wet.
