This has significantly helped me hone my 3 basic formations/ tactics. It means most players can play in a wide variety of positions. It also means each opponent can be engaged with a bespoke set of roles/ PIs/ OIs depending on their style and formation. I use 5-2DM-2-1 as a basis. But I can use any combination of:- FB or WB roles. 2 or 3 CB. 2 or 3 DMCs. 2 AMC or wide players (or one of each). Even 1 AMC plus 2 strikers. It makes a season more. Challenging and rewarding.

Great videos, and even though I've played for years, I'm, thanks to you, thinking on different ways to set up tactics. However, something I didn't hear you mention - the more positions a player can play, either intentionally or unintentionally, the more "CA" will be taken up - and less attribute increase is possible. What I mean by unintentionally, is that if a player is not competent in a role, but when you play/train a player in a new role, more CA will be taken up, to allow this player to play there more proficiently.
@@Martin-fd8jl if that was the case, I would be willing to reduce the potential improvement of a player to maximize their performance in my team by being able to play in roles that are super effective tactically.
Really interesting video. Wondering how you deal with coming up against teams who change shape in possession with roles like HB. I would always think a team with two CBs and a half back is building with a three in possession (and will often do it myself to overload 2 striker opponents in the first line) and plan accordingly. However it would obviously show up as a 4-3-3 out of possession and on the OI screen. Do you plot opponents out on your chalkboard in an in and out of possession shape? @FletchTheSauce in the tactical screen (fm), you use inverted wingers (inverted footedness as well), and on the tactical board, you have them sorted left footed winger on left side, rightfooted on right side. So the roles you give them contrast the profiles that you look for (tactic board ideal usecase) based on this, do you just invert them left to right (and vice versa) if you want to give them the iw/if role, or do you just give them the iw/if role, irrelevant of their foot and stick to the tactical board idea? hopefully it makes sense what I want to ask :)

Your using player positioning and opposition instructions to implement your plans. Do you use specific player on player marking at all ? At some point would love to watch example games.
Really playing the game is the best compliment you could give me so thank you. It's hard to find wingers with decent marking, but when I have had them on occasion, I will use the man marking player instruction on opposing full backs. My decent marking striker I used on a CB from time to time. I dislike using it on our defensive players as it restricts them getting forward. I have had opponents that used the man marking on my back 5 wing backs with their wingers and it really restricted them offensively.

Hello! Would you mind explaining why you're playing with volantes in a lot of your tactics? I always struggle with pivot roles in most of my tactics and I would like to understand better. Maybe in a future video?
@@tudormoldoveanu6249 yeah absolutely I will do that. Volantes are a little attacking for 4-2-3-1s and 4-4-2s however because I love to use them in 3 at the back systems, it's easy to just train them as regista volantes and switch the volantes to attack. This keeps tactical familiarity high with all the other changes. I don't like DM on support for 3 at the back, not attacking enough.
So, basically you don’t have a main tactic, i see that you prefer your team is always pressing, but the position of the players and roles changes in relation to the opposing team. I’m starting a save based on what you’ve explained in the last videos, my best player is an attacking midfielder, a pure 10, but he can only play in that position. It’s worthy leaving him on the bench in case I need to play, for example, a 442 so that I can counter the opponents team? Or maybe sell him and find someone with a lot of versatility between different positions, but who is worse than the player I had previously?

If you really get extremely successful with this approach it is heavily based on meta in fm being quite unrefined, with all this maximised harsh tackling not being punished, so you really benefit from better physicality in duels, and can afford to have flexibility of the team playing multiple tactics without getting really strong cohesion.
