Richard McCool, Medal of Honor, WWII

On June 11, 1945, Lieutenant Richard McCool, Jr., was seriously wounded by a Japanese kamikaze off Okinawa. Despite his injuries, McCool rallied his crew to save themselves and their ship. After two months in the hospital, he received the Medal of Honor from President Truman on December 18, 1945.
