AEW Honeymoon period is over (2019 - 2022) were the best years in the company’s history so far. I feel like a wrestling based federation is destined to lose spectators because when you try to make tons of 5 stars matches, you reach the point in which nothing is special anymore. You need storylines to keep doing good on the long term.

    • @richborn6700
      @richborn6700 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

If you build a story and feud right, they usually have a couple matches that continue the build to what should be a five star blowoff. But a lot of time in AEW they have the blowoff level match to kick off the feud, so it doesn't have a satisfying conclusion to get to. The only time I can think of a feud culminating properly was Punk vs MJF in n a Dog Collar match after a standard singles the month prior

Ironically enough the failure of this company has pretty much destroyed said man's credibility among his fanbase.

I mean they do put on consistently good TV matches. But who cares if they are good if there's very little done with the buildup and story. Also they put on extremely brutal matches that are just un needed. I don't watch wrestling week on week, but I like to try to keep up with it. I don't care to see my favorite wrestlers get absolutely fucking smashed in the head or go through barbed wire and get injured. I'd much rather see good, consistent, week on week matches.
Something else that I will say, and this might just be me, I often see AEW matches that are basically no-sell fests. They act like cruiserweights at the beginning of matches where it's constant action and everyone is constantly doing a move. I like slower style of wrestling, so that very much just be me.

Aew existed just as a counter to vince mcmahons wwe. Not even as their own thing, just as a "we're going to do the opposite of you" thing, they would dispute that fact but it's very much true, at least to a certain point.
Now there is no Vince-led wwe, and they don't know how to create programming except for something to be the opposite of what Vince would produce. It's bizarre.

    • @TheMikey2207
      @TheMikey2207 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

@ first off let’s take it back to all out, CM Punk is ranting about Colt Cabana, Hangman and The Young Bucks, Tony should’ve interjected to stop Punk from continuing to talk instead of just sitting there.
Then there’s brawl out, The Young Bucks were acting on their ego instead of judging the situation. I fully believe that they should’ve let Punk cool off and go home then called him in the morning for a meeting with Tony and others to professionally discuss what Punk had said. (Punk would’ve cooled down and been in the right state to talk. All Out wasn’t the right place as he was clearly tired and fed up and just went through a hardcore match where he bled a bunch and got hurt)
Brawl Out happens then Punk and The Elite are suspended, Tony should’ve called for a meeting between the two sides to squash the beef and to agree to working together professionally. (This would’ve stopped AEW having a big split where Punk and The Elite are forced to be separated away from each other by being on other shows and schedules and would’ve stopped the locker room from having to choose sides between team Elite and team Punk)
All In, prior to the event Tony Khan should’ve stepped in and told Jack Perry not to break a rental cars window with his spot. Or once Jack Perry stepped through the curtain after his match then Tony should’ve gone up to him and told him he’s being suspended. (Prior to the event, Punk asked Tony to handle the situation because Tony wouldn’t like how he’d handle it and that’s what he did. Tony didn’t handle it so Punk choked him out a bit)
Do you see it now? How events could’ve been stopped just from going a different way and handling them different ways.

In AEW, it’s still one of the main things people know about the promotion. And that’s because AEW demonstrated that a talent can run management over and still come out on top. Very bad internally.

I feel like this isn’t the downfall of AEW but rather just growing pains. Think of all the great companies that had *that* era
    WWE had the Attitude era
TNA had that late 2000’s-early 2010’s run
WCW was a juggernaut from 95’-97’
NXT had the black and gold era from 2015-2019
And the focus on the topic, AEW had that 2019-2022 run
All these companies had that era, but they also had that *other* era
    WWE from 2016-2019
NXT 2.0 in its first few months
    WCW in 2000
    AEW right now
So many examples of these companies having good and bad eras. It happens to all companies! AEW will have a golden era again, it only needs time.

I feel like they just need to figure out how to make storylines more meaningful. Similar to what they tried to do with MJF and Adam Cole rivalry (before Adam disappeared),and they need less titles. Having so many titles just makes a title defense or opportunity less important since there’s so many other titles to go after if someone loses a match for one. They shouldn’t be struggling this hard especially with such an amazing roster.

I think AEW just has too much fat they need to trim.
There's like 7 titles with "divisons" that have no value.
A ranking system that could have worked if they gave more of a shit.
Booking that's spaced across multiple shows rather than creating a brand split to divide up the roster properly and keep consistency.
A LOT of dragging. (Chris Jericho being the prime example of a VERY stale character and storylines involving him are not really engaging)
Not to mention rampage being an hour of nothing and Shockwave possibly being no better in the future.

They never needed Punk. They were doing just fine before him. They are now like WWE and the matches are boring and not very competitive or exciting, even guys who were legendary in the independent circuits or in Japan couldn't wrestle as good in AEW. Something's wrong there!
While WWE is doing the smart thing and snatching up all the "new", fresh, exciting talents that not a lot of people has seen before, AEW is too busy hiring WWE's scrapyard wrestlers. Plus their arena is boring as hell; put some exciting lights on to pump people up. AEW= All Ex WWE Wrestlers. Lol.
They have so many good wrestlers but don't know how to put them against each others to create amazing matches and story lines. It's just their favorites over and over and over again. Who the hell wants to see the same old thing over and over again. Take risk and try something new for once! And stop putting on 3 minute matches, put some effort into them!! I'm dying of boredom. Every time I tuned in, I see the same old shit again. I didn't want to tune in, but it's now a habit, damn!
We need to talk about the women's division as well, it's going NO WHERE. It's dead and boring. WWE is hiring all the best female wrestlers while AEW doesn't give a damn.
It's like AEW is stuck in this boring phase and no matter what they do, they cannot move forward.

AEW has not been the same since brawl out. They're still trying to recover and its getting to the point where developmental NXT is beating them on their own night at that. Tony needs to pull his head out of the sand and realize something needs to change. The matches and ppvs are still top notch but I feel no investment in the product or any of the characters because the booking hasn't supported what they're trying to sell. Why should I care about Moxley taking over the company? Why does he want to do it anyway? Whats the endgame with this? They already tried the takeover story with the Elite this year and it fizzled out so why am I to believe rhis wont too? Tony admitted he books week to week which is asinine he should have some kind of long term plan of who he's trying to push and where and how stories are gonna end. No AEW is not dying they literally just got a new deal from WBD its not going anywhere but your fans are caring less and less about it except for the diehard "sickos" who will watch and defend AEW no matter what but soon that's all you'll have left and perception is everything and right now AEW just seems like a company in limbo trying to recapture that lightning in a bottle they had. Hopefully they will before it's too late.

AEW is in the same boat as TNA was a few years back. They need to rebuild the promotion from the ground up. Also hire some people who know how to book a show. Tony is like Dixie Carter. Yes, they loved wrestling, but booking it was not their bread and butter. I think if Tony gets some people to help him. AEW can be salvaged and succeed again. We all know Cody was the real mastermind behind AEW's success. When he left that was the start of the company's downfall.
