We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time. T. S. Eliot....i love that he quoted this and that is so aware of being unaware of his journey yet he knows he is home...and Yes Glenn did ultimately have the last word on the end of the Eagles tours. What a brotherhood...what music...what a Band
That's what I thought when I heard him say Glenn was going to have to call it. I still tear up over him being gone. It's like knowing someone and growing up with them whispering in your ear all these years, growing up and still even in my early 50's I just don't grow tired of any of it. Its a part of us, I truly believe that. There are no bands left like this anymore. We were blessed with the "BEST" music period. Best song writers. Seldom do you get both. I listen to music instead of watching tv , I grew up with a music being played literally. . Glenn Frey and Don Henley are are the masters of what they achieved. A lot of hard work went into the Eagles. I don't see anyone doing what they have achieved. I don't think we'll ever see this again. My boys say we had the best music ever. Thank you so much to the Eagles for all your hard work and your making my teenage years great. I can still remember finding album "Hotel California " under the couch where my parents had it hid for Christmas
Don and Glenn what legends , RIP Glenn you made it home. The greatest group ever! I love Henley he is a great Environmentalist and I am glad he is saving our America the small towns, were we all come from
Man The Eagles are a magical band. I remember seeing them in July, 2015 in Dayton with my Mom. Almost surreal about it that it seems like almost legend even to me. Thank you Don and Glenn and Randy and the others for the songs and thank you Mom for taking me to see them
+Austin Angler - Sadly, I never saw them live in concert. My sisters all went to a show and I knew they were always touring, so I wasn't in a hurry. Now I have deep regret in not seeing them. If they ever toured without Frey, wouldn't be the same.
we love you don,, i do any way,, thank for all the great music,, your songs i listened to,, not just heard,, heart of the matter is so deep,, and last worthless evening,,i relate to,,,, thanks again ,, god bless...forever a fan.. your voice is legendary,,i have great memories of your voice,,
Love you Don Henley, and you have built your field of dreams with your hard work and talent...I know you must miss Glenn Frey...you were just meant to meet and be the Eagles! Love and happiness and my deepest condolences to your friend Glenn Frey!
we have lost a voice and music of a much simpler time when lyrics meant something beautiful to us all. I will forever be grateful for the music that flowed like cool water from his passionate soul. and our own walk down our own seven bridges road. RIP to a great musician.
+arcticmonkey3 That's EXACTLY what I thought when I heard that Glenn had passed. Glenn started it, and he finished it. I'm so glad I got to see them in concert.
+vwmalzahn I saw the Eagles live a few times in concert after they reunited. Amazing memories. Thank you Glenn Frey and Don Henley for making it all happen.
+escaton74 I don't think we'll ever see them again as the Eagles because it isn't the Eagles without Glenn. It was his band and I can't see the others using the name without him. Besides, Don and Joe can still tour as solo artists and Timothy could tour with one of them if he wanted to, I'm sure.
I live 35 miles from Linden and work there. A nice little town, and he is well thought of for all that he does to preserve it's heritage. Maybe he comes off a bit arrogant, but hey, I think he has earned it. Just being a Texan gives him the right to some of the arrogance. Then factor in that he is in one of the greatest rock bands of all time, and has had a helluva solo career, and he has definitely earned that right. The so-called country singers of today need to listen to his newest album and take some lessons from it.
I understand their greatness, but what I don't understand is people keep calling them a rock band. They always wanted to be but they they never were a rock band. Joe Walsh gave them a little rock and roll but mostly a country band.
One of the last great American's, oh so cool and with a slight hint of the old west - that's Mr Henley. The Boys Of Summer stands as my favourite music track of the 80's! One Of These Nights takes the same place but as my favourite song ever! Genius dude!
Wow hey Don your so cool ...part of my soundtrack always ....loved that tune with martina mc bride we scots rule .... glenn don randy bernie wow love these guys total respect....go don l
Don is kinda serious and "all business" in interviews, but he always has interesting stories to tell, and I love his singing voice as well as hearing him talk. I'm in my early 30s and with Glenn passing away, it really makes me think about my own childhood and time passing, makes me sad how many singers I grew up with are dying or are nearing retirement.
Don is a good guy. He wanted to save Walden Woods and Pond from development which he help do along with saving the architecture of his home town. With the passing of Glen Frey I think now he will be able to build that cornfield he always wanted to plant in honor to his father. The Eagles were my favorite all time band.
Don, I live in Dallas and I would love to sit down for awhile when you are not to busy. You shared some great talent that touched and resonated in my soul when I was younger. But there comes a time when we put away our former toys. I got some definite eternal treasures to share with you that just might resonant within your soul. Everyone is looking for truth to our existence. That True Light. Peace with GOD and Open honesty with no pretenses. The Only higher level of life that is genuine. There is no other place to know real satisfaction.
Look at Henley's face when he describes how he feels about David Geffen - that's pure animosity right there. I'm sure the two stay as far away from each other as possible.
+Gary VanDecar Exactly. I'm sure Don is ok with the band ending, but the void Glenn left in his life must be unbearable. I know I wouldn't want to bury my best friend.
Hitch Slap Agreed it has to be really unbearable for Don to lose Glenn this way they were like brothers and all i'm sad because i would've loved to seen the Eagles one more time and now it will never happen thank goodness i got to see Glenn in Tampa in 1992 during his Strange Weather tour and the Eagles in 1994 during their Hell Freezes Over tour.
Ironic how some of us after all we have been through want to only return to our roots in the end. I guess that is something Don and some of us have in common. :)
They give a very southern western vibe so it makes sense he’s from Texas. Even a little Mexican influence... amazing how music can reflect your background like that.
Some work of fate how a guy from Detroit (Glenn Frey) and a guy from Texas (Don Henley) could team up and become the greatest band out of L.A. If you want to learn about a piece of America (some of us lived it) that had a hand in shaping the Nation, take a look at the L.A. (Laurel Canyon, Weston's Troubadour nightclub, record industry types) music scene from the mid 60's all the way through the 70's (you still will not get the answer to what "Hotel California" is all about). Miss you already Glenn Frey.
Things could never be the same without Glenn Frye. Don was correct on Glenn being the one to call it off.Broke my heart that Glenn passed away. Makes you know for sure that it's now an "era gone by". But I willlisten to the music until I too have passed on.
Don alwasy wanted to be a rock star and not do country but lookie how he is now....Country is the real America and real emotions....one of my top 10 favorites is Boys of Summer. just finished reading "To the Limit"...awesome if you haven't read it.
Regarding the song: LOVER's MOON by legendary Glenn Frey. Underrated but... perhaps and arguably the best "Rock Lullaby" song ever written. It should also make the Guinness world record for... "The lowest registered note of a lead guitar in rock history!" Pls refer to 3:31 then a repeat on 3:58. My thought points to either Glenn was carried away by the descending pattern of the rift or he was just in one of those "creative moments" via use of some "catalyst". He may not have been really fully aware on how 'extremely' low he went with this hook/rift... "where no guitarist has ever gone before"! In fact, it went so low & deep that his guitar at one point almost sounded a little flat or nearly out of tune (whew!) On the serious and sincere side: Glenn Frey's brilliance will be "deeply" missed... both with & without pun intended! A very vital part of the phenomenon called: The EAGLES.
I will give Don Felder his props for saying some very classy things about Glenn Frey I wake of his passing. I'm putting aside what I might think about his problems with Frey & Henley over money.
The contrast between Don Henley & his ilk and most popular musicians who gained fame in the last couple of decades is startling ..how many of them quote TS Eliot in an interview or are even capable or well read enough to do so..as for the musicianship and craft of songwriting,Henley and others of his generation are in a different class. Don was almost prophetic when he talked about Glenn being the one that'd put an end on The Eagles. Too bad it wasn't as well as we all thought it out to be. R.I.P Glenn Frey.
Actually that's not what he said. This interview was on September 23 2015 four months BEFORE Glenn Frey died. What he said was that the decision to stop was Glenn's to make and it wasn't up to him.

+Victoria Almanza - Totally agree with you about Don. I've heard alot of people say he seems like a dick or that he's full of himself. I can see where they might interpret it that way but they just don't get his personality, and like you said hes into environmental and social causes and knows his stuff. Great voice ... his playing and singing on Hotel California is a masterpiece.
For 68 yrs old the man still sounds great
He's a damn charming man

+jjBdrumming Incomparable!
+jjBdrumming Very small minded of you. There's room for all types of music, and all types of opinions I suppose.
+jjBdrumming nothing but the best selling album of all time with the eagles.... to bad ur so narrow minded.
Well, um, Wikipedia says "Thriller" is the greatest selling Album.
Peace
I have to disagree. Saw them in concert shortly before the passing of Glenn and they were amazing!! Now, off to see Don Henley tonight!
RIP Glenn. Thank you for many years of great music.
Man The Eagles are a magical band. I remember seeing them in July, 2015 in Dayton with my Mom. Almost surreal about it that it seems like almost legend even to me. Thank you Don and Glenn and Randy and the others for the songs and thank you Mom for taking me to see them

I would have liked to. They rarely came around. And lately the tickets are too pricey.
Legends are made of these.Listening to him always makes me kinda surreal. He's the best with all his heartbreak songs.
IM 62 their music takes me back to 20 1974 crisis in my Marron 64 SUPER SPORT
we love you don,, i do any way,, thank for all the great music,, your songs i listened to,, not just heard,, heart of the matter is so deep,, and last worthless evening,,i relate to,,,, thanks again ,, god bless...forever a fan.. your voice is legendary,,i have great memories of your voice,,

Interesting, thoughtful man, and a great songwriter.
Great, great interview. It revealed a lot finally about Don Henley. A superior songwriter, one of my generations best.
we have lost a voice and music of a much simpler time when lyrics meant something beautiful to us all. I will forever be grateful for the music that flowed like cool water from his passionate soul. and our own walk down our own seven bridges road. RIP to a great musician.
6:40 he called it on Glenn deciding when the band is done.....RIP
+arcticmonkey3 He certainly did. That statement sent shivers up my spine. Glenn is gone and it's over. RIP
+arcticmonkey3 I wonder how they will carry on now as a band, at least they'll do next years' Kennedy Center honors
At the end of the interview, it was intriguing...hearing Don speak about his Rosebud.
Absolutely beautiful. Thanks Don Scott from Sydney Australia loves you mate

+Tim Nelson You know that Arrogance simply insecurity in a mask!!!!!
+Rocky B
I think he's deservedly confident. And Texan. But not arrogant. He's a wise and talented man.
+Tim Nelson He's a Poet.
I understand their greatness, but what I don't understand is people keep calling them a rock band. They always wanted to be but they they never were a rock band. Joe Walsh gave them a little rock and roll but mostly a country band.
I have always loved this group

Priceless interview
Wow hey Don your so cool ...part of my soundtrack always ....loved that tune with martina mc bride we scots rule .... glenn don randy bernie wow love these guys total respect....go don l
Providential Don. Enjoy your retirement. Glenn Frey rest in peace. You all were awesome. Thanks for the music. Way ahead of your time.
Perfectionists do tend to be malcontents, and both he and Frey produced perfection.

@ 6:30 Wow, Glen really was the one to call it off too. RIP Mr. Frey.
What treasured moments, we have received over the many years.. Thank you
Truly a wise, gifted, and humble man -- thank you, Mr. Henley. (From Dark Continent Command / USMC Vet - Ex-Pat Contractor)

Most underrated vocalist of all-time
Loved this interview...Don Henley is an absolute idol of mine!
Amazing Story and Very Well Done!!
Look at Henley's face when he describes how he feels about David Geffen - that's pure animosity right there. I'm sure the two stay as far away from each other as possible.
Don was quite correct, The Eagles ended on Glenn Freys terms, But sadly with Glenns passing it wasn't the terms we wanted to see or hear.
+Gary VanDecar
Exactly. I'm sure Don is ok with the band ending, but the void Glenn left in his life must be unbearable. I know I wouldn't want to bury my best friend.
When Don made that comment I thought to myself, how prophetic.
jdessell Exactly i thought the exact same thing how prophetic Dons words were.
He spoke about "Well-being", from a cornfield
Ironic how some of us after all we have been through want to only return to our roots in the end. I guess that is something Don and some of us have in common. :)
Journeyman I agree with you and Don, I 'll do the same thing returning to my roots and heading for my hometown. Its great!!!
he seems like he has depth
Very cool. Thanks for posting. My parents lived in Atlanta, TX.
RIP Glenn, we all miss you and the band will never be the same again.
As a pro vocalist for 40 years ,the songwriters are the bosses as they should be .
This is the most down to earth I've ever seen Henley in an interview. Must be because he's home and relaxed.
Things could never be the same without Glenn Frye. Don was correct on Glenn being the one to call it off.Broke my heart that Glenn passed away. Makes you know for sure that it's now an "era gone by". But I willlisten to the music until I too have passed on.
Great interview. Great man. Humble.
A Field of Dreams like my Father, he a raised a fine young man.
I'm only in my early 30s.. but I like/ love alot of his music even today.
What an interview...what a premonition about The Eagles and Glenn Frey....
It's Christmas but still eagles music in my neighbour's tape.... 👍👍
Eerie to think, this was less than four months before Glenn's untimely passing. It still hurts. RIP
Love this man since the beginning of the Eagles.
I'm gonna have to get that album. My first record I ever bought was Desperado.
+Stan Lindert
It might sound good
I really respect Don Henley. He is a really intelligent guy and I admire his views on life.
I sincerely hope and pray I see the Eagles on the next tour. And after that I wish each of the band members a happy retirement.
Insane that they had five (by my count) different members singing lead on hit songs. Classic songs actually.
I like don henley verymuch spcl his song TALKING TO THE MOON
LUV IT💖💘💚💓💕
at 68, he still sound so good.
Watching this now gave me the chills when Don said it was Glenn's decision when to call off the Eagles. Rest in peace, Glenn.
Don alwasy wanted to be a rock star and not do country but lookie how he is now....Country is the real America and real emotions....one of my top 10 favorites is Boys of Summer. just finished reading "To the Limit"...awesome if you haven't read it.
Love the T S Elliot quote 🙏👍

I'm sorry, but that blonde girl in the short leather skirt is absolutely bloody stunning.
+PORG Don't be sorry. She caught my eye too :-)
+PORG Me too. Yum.
+PORG You mean the one at 6:55? I hadn't noticed...
now i got to go back, never notice, im old...lol
Damn, his speaking voice is so much deeper than his singing voice, how does he do it?
ALL THE BEST DON ! YOU ARE A LEGEND !!!! ENJOY LIFE ! YOU DERSERVE IT !!!!
don is a really good guy man.
grab your acoustic henley and enjoy the front porch
I love don Henley he's a great singer
I'll be listening............Bobby Sepulveda
Glenn it was okay to call it off.I will never forget the Eagles!
Nobody expected Glenn Frey to call it quits the way he did. I hope the rest of them get a chance to retire and enjoy the time they have left.
Y yo se maestro que usted y todo su personal son muy humanos gente de bien por eso escucho su música y la canto
Regarding the song: LOVER's MOON by legendary Glenn Frey.
Underrated but...
perhaps and arguably the best "Rock Lullaby" song
ever written.
It should also make the Guinness world record for... "The lowest registered note of a lead guitar in rock history!"
Pls refer to 3:31 then a repeat on 3:58.
My thought points to either Glenn was carried away by the descending pattern of the rift
or
he was just in one of those "creative moments" via use of some "catalyst". He may not have been really fully aware on how 'extremely' low he went with this hook/rift...
"where no guitarist has ever gone before"!
In fact, it went so low & deep that his guitar at one point almost sounded a little flat or nearly out of tune (whew!)
On the serious and sincere side:
Glenn Frey's brilliance will be "deeply" missed...
both with & without
pun intended!
A very vital part of the phenomenon called:
The EAGLES.
Great man!!!!
What song at 2:05
I will give Don Felder his props for saying some very classy things about Glenn Frey I wake of his passing. I'm putting aside what I might think about his problems with Frey & Henley over money.
James. Taylor Wigan UK the eagles have been in my life for many years they have given so much pleasure to million's
I played trombone, and I saw kenny Rodgers when I looked over on the freeway,
he was driving a green cadillac

RIP Glenn. There is no "Eagles" without him....
What strikes me when I watch aging rock stars is how they seem to be just like ordinary people, Don Henley really sounds like my dad, no bullshit comes out of their mouth
Great interview. Who are those gorgeous girl back up singers ?
Is that Ted kazinsky on drums.he was hiding in plain site.
Oh god!! I could picture him in bellbottoms! Lol

hatte er früher eine dauerwelle oder wo kam der lockenkopf her ?
GENIUS
True hero...living legend
I have one question. Why are all backup singers so damn fine? I mean babe city.
Wait, did Don get earlobes put in?
His voice 😇
Very revealing, perhaps those amongst us who label him so badly because of the Felder situation, well, there is another side.
damn, okay so i fell in love with don. he's, you can tell, that he kind of knows he's smart. like he is, and he knows it. and that might come across as arrogant. and you know he knows that he was hot shit at some point in his life. and im sure he enjoyed it like tbh what guy wouldn't. he was hot and talented and girls were digging on him. like i would have been all over him.
