My daily driver is a 74 super beetle with auto stick. Car drives great and have never had any issues with the autostic or anything else really really. Having a great mechanic helps.

Thank you for the mention. They came out in 1968. If you remember VW changed to IRS in 1969.completely I'm 1968 only the autostick was IRS that year. As far as numbers, there are no.official numbers from VW. the census is 1 in 2 hundred were produced. You were correct about the unusual style if driving. VW explains the autostick was produced for women. They felt the clutch pedal was to firm for women to engage it. Thank you for taking the question. Loved how Spook kept trying to change the topic. 😆. Another great video. Congrats on your channel. Great content. Its a hidden gem of a channel waiting to be discovered. Catch you guys and " Gal" on the next video.
@@AirkooledKustoms I'm not a huge fan either. I think it was a great topic overall. He may not be a fan of the autostick. We still.are a fan of airkooled kustoms. Catch you on the next video.

Hey brother,I recently bought a 1970bug all original. Even motor number matched up to be original 1600 single port... Unfortunately it is an autostick...it works fine but I'd rather change it over to regular transaxle...what would that intel and what's ballpark figure to do it? Also if I bought all needed before hand could you give me a list of everything I needed?
How difficult is it to swap out an autostick for a manual on a 71 ghia? I know it's a loaded question based off everyone skill set, but in general is it pretty straight forward? Hold up, they make a conversion kit!

That's great - definitely helps to have a great mechanic.
I have a 71 Ghia with an auto stick. I like/need it cause I got no left leg. Makes it easier to drive/shift.
Now THAT makes sense! May that Ghia bring you years of happy drives. How long have you had it?

Well, it was a little cold out. Didn't want his hands to freeze. (Also, you are the only one who noticed him.)

Hey Darryl, Spook will be happy to answer your question. He asked if you'd email him with this question. Info@airkooledkustoms.com will work!
Porsche had the Sportomatic. Same thing but treated with less disdain.
and with more cost and complication
How difficult is it to swap out an autostick for a manual on a 71 ghia?
