I loved what he said about mobile phones/cameras. The irony is your phone is supposed to make you more social when really so many people are now more anti-social than ever because of them. I still haven't bought a mobile phone and I get by, it's not so hard!

I know that in some cases, he was struggling to be open and honest, but it seemed that he was also struggling to not be so blunt or descriptive that he might appear rude. Other than that, I found him to be an effective communicator and I did enjoy listening to him even though he might have been tired or perhaps he always speaks with too many disfluencies.
I enjoyed the effectiveness of Ms. Flaa for this interview. She did indeed ask some intelligent and probing questions that kept the interview very interesting and mature. We will probably be hearing more and more about her as time goes on!
I'm not certain what it was that Edward Norton seemed to be trying to avoid saying about the growth of camera phones, but I know how I feel about them. It's getting easier for us to gauge the average citizen and what things seem to interest that group simply because we are reading their comments throughout the internet, we're watching the kinds of videos they create, and we know what situations upset them. I feel frustrated over the attitude that they seem to think they are the center of and the most important being in the universe. There seems to be very little reliance upon historical data to interpret the situations of the present - the attitudes that I see revealed seem as though nothing that happened before is really relevant and nothing that happens to others is of concern and the universe may as well put up the Closed sign once these people are no longer around or if they are simply disinterested in a subject: genocide (until hollyweird takes an interest years later), poverty, human trafficking, etc. I'm aware that every one seems to have their pet charity and yes, there are advocates for the environment, for civil rights, etc. but even these folks don't seem to know much about the history of these problems, what's been tried in the past, nor do they seem to put in the effort to research and discover if they work they support is truly effective, or does it just sound good to say that a certain number of meals have been delivered to this area (do they have figures on who got the meals? not that I've seen . . . ) Are we supposed to be satisfied once several million dollars have been spent in the name of conquering this or that evil, or can we see the importance of intelligent follow-up and who do we think will do this extra work? Basically, I'm saying that I'm not impressed with the concerns, efforts and attitudes of the vocal citizenry of this age. That's my main complaint about them having access to the every present camera phones, also.
Just because a person is a film star, athlete, news subject, victim of a shocking crime, an accused person, or someone you might like or hate - it does not mean that they should lose their right to privacy. It is not only the problem of others objectifying these people as Edward Norton expressed, but it's a lack of understanding that these people (including their images, voices, words, expressions, etc.) do not belong to you or the public unless they are holding a public forum. Even then, it would go a long ways to re-introducing manners and healing feelings of violation if people were willing to wait until a person announces at a public forum that they are going to stand in front of the podium for the next minute and anyone who is interested may snap pictures during that minute. That way, the person is not fearing what kind of weird photo you are going to snap just when they are sneezing, coughing or being asked a sensitive question. Some people understand that it's a violation to snap pictures of babies and young children without permission, but the majority have come around to feeling that everyone - everything is fair game. Wait until it's your turn when you'd like to protect and comfort your loved ones and protect them from further violation only to be told that everything about your life now belongs to the world. Why is that attitude even appealing? I know that I"ve always been busy just trying to manage my own life, I'm not interested in grabbing hold of the life of someone else. From what I witness, more of the public needs to be concerned about their own lives and less intrusive into the lives of others. I've always tried to be cooperative with others and I just answer questions without even thinking of telling someone to go jump in the lake. However, now I'm working on training myself to ask people, "Why do you need to know that?" and in talking to friends, they are doing the same thing just because we've all found that too many people are feeling they have a right to our private feelings/thoughts. One of our problems is that we're no good at turning the tables and showing these people just how uncomfortable you feel when people you don't really know start asking intrusive questions. I wish more people had our problem!
So to be blunt, these camera phones too often give others the feeling that they have rights to private moments, expressions, utterances, etc. and we need to get back to having concern for people's feelings and privacy as much as our own.

At 1:24 : I definitely process life events by talking to myself or arguing with a fictitious antigonist in my own head (preparing clever come-backs in view of an actual conflict, or sometimes making fun of someone without being this rude in real life, etc.).
And I occasionally mutter to myself too! That's the embarrassing part. :-) Glad to hear that I am not the only one!I don't thinks everyone does it, though, at least not that much. It sounds like Edward and I do it more than others!
