The geasa on Fergus to accept any invitation kept him from helping the Sons of Uisneach (Naoise) from King Conchobhar in the story of the sorrows of Deirdre, when Conchobhar made a ruse to have Fergus invited to i believe Cuchulainn’s dún , so he had to accept, even though he didn’t want to. Also the geas or geis that Deirdre put on Naoise to take her away, or likewise, Gráinne put on Diarmuid, made it so those men had to take the women away with them, even against their will, lest they lose their honour.

I think the original meaning of the word virgin was unmarried or not of marriageable age.
