Well, here we have what I think to be a once in a lifetime opportunity. Back in April or May, I was out filming 106292 in the morning and everything was normal. Later on in the afternoon around 4pm, I was wondering why he was so late. I ended up finding him right as it started to rain. According to the driver, a sensor had broken around 10am and was causing the truck not to grip all the way. It wasn’t a problem until it started raining because the bins had become slippery. And seen in the video is the result. The driver could have gone back to get a spare but chose to keep the truck seeing that he only had about 200 stops left.

@@TruckMaster642 I recently took my old truck back after it's been a spare for two months or more. It's a Heil half pack odyssey automated front loader. The internal sensor in the front fork cylinder has gone bad. Once the hydraulics warm up the sensor fails and the Curotto bucket won't dump or undump properly. I have to turn off the auto dump feature and run it like a regular front loader. It wasn't designed to be ran like that so it's very problematic. I had a brand new Heil Python but we are extremely understaffed from Covid19 right now so all yardwaste trucks won't be running until probably fall and we have to pick up the yardwaste as we pick up the trash. In the Python that wasn't the easiest thing to do so I gave that truck back and took my old Curotto Can truck back. The guy who's been driving it gladly gave it back because he doesn't have the skillset to run that truck when the sensor fails nor did he know why it wasn't working so he takes the truck back in and gets another truck every day. I'll make it work until a new cylinder with a good internal sensor comes in.

It seems that the rain and the can design are both exposing a major weakness in this type of trash collection strategy.
Nope, the rain doesn't have anything to do with bins being dropped it's due to the claw not gripping the bins at the right strength
The claw is broken, that is why there are so many issues.
Grip pressure setting is way to low just needs to be adjusted it's a 5 minute fix. I'd be damned if I'd run that thing that way. Drop a few of those containers in and cycle them through and I bet they'll fix the problem real quick
Yes they did fix it but it wasn’t an adjustment issue earlier that day a sensor broke

Nice video my main dude, entertaining to see a wm truck keep hoppering and the claws throwing carts out of grip, that sucks that’s censor went wrong, would be cool to see a python do this haha, did those people around the beginning say anything to you? Just wish they didn’t buy sterlings might as well buy icons since there much better or even ottos
No the people at the beginning were cool and I wish the bought rehrigs instead of cascades. These ones keep breaking.

I can immediately see the problem,The claw doesn't have rubber grips on it,It's WM and the automizers where they leave the claws with out rubber grips.
No the problem was that one of the sensors broke the truck was brand new. The sensor wasn’t allowing the claw to grip the bins.
@@TruckMaster642 So after a certain point of closing the claw just stops after that point?
The ASL's are problematic due to the many moving parts and it sucks when their not working properly, I had two brand new ASL's one was an 2017 Mack/Heil with the rapid rail arm, other was an 2020 Mack/EZ Pack also with the rapid rail arm both arms gave problems. But I'm glad this one was repaired.
I was a cnc machine operator at dana/hyco for 11 yrs we built cylinders for garbage beds heil, ez pak, leech lot of other dump druck beds crysteel, heil tishamingo in MS heil garbage beds are made in ft payne alabama

Looks like arm mid height limit switch is out of adjustment. Keeping a finger on the gripper close button helps if that happens
That’s a great idea and it actually worked towards the end of the route when the driver thought of that.

Really unfortunately that my guy had a really bad day. Hopering cans here and there and sometimes flinging them in the air. What is shocking is to see it's new yet has these fails. Nothing against wm it's just, Why? Shout out to you for trying to help the guy out. I laughed hard seeing the carts fling out or bring hoppered and im sure the driver did too just that he had it worst. They should have put the helper hand on the route to help out.
So What happened was one of the sensors on the arm broke and he told me that all day it was fine but it was in combination with the rain that made the carts fall in. To be honest I don’t know why it broke and am sure that it’s not the drivers fault.

Stuff breaks, picking up trash is hard on equipment and no matter how much money you spend on equipment, how well they build it and how hard you focus on not breaking it it will always break.
I have ran one for 20 years and haven’t dropped that many in the hopper in The whole 20 years. He also doesn’t have the rubber on his forks that keep it from slipping.
The problem was a sensor broke
Our mechanics at wm In nor cal, had our arms and grabbers tuned perfectly. Same arm as this truck . He's trying to grab the smaller cans near the top so it's slightly wider because the grabbers won't close all the way , won't squeeze right .
That's a horrible way to work ,look at all the down time cleaning up and pulling cans out of the hopper ? When you climb in there , or even climb up on the truck AT ALL , you have to tag out lock out . Every time .
And thats why i dont work for WM anymore 15 years with them. Now if you even breathe wrong they will shit can you
They really need either a new type of trashcan that is easy to grip or a better claw.
He should’ve called the supervisor or mechanic to look at the problem so he’s not behind on route. Or send another truck like a python to do the route
He called a few people to help him and non of them finished. I think even with this truck problem he might have finished before them.

Usually WM isn't allowed to retrieve hopper carts but I think if he followed that policy the whole route would need a rollout haha

Looks like the gripper is out of adjustment. Someone will need to take a few minutes to troubleshoot and correct. It's definitely not suppose to do that.
Yes. The driver showed me what broke it was a sensor that had snapped around 10am. Sucks that he had to deal with it and hoper all of these carts. Luckily they took it back to Mack and it was fixed and inspected in under 3 days

I could be wrong but looks like one of the operators are grabbing the tote extremely high and the hydraulic claw is not securing it properly.

I think this was happening because the driver was grabbing the top of the bins so when he dumped it the can slipped and then the grabbers grip was to big causing the bin to fall into hopper. I also think the rain had something to do with the grip. You can also see that the grabbers had a good grip on the can when he grabbed the middle part of the can.
Well from what the driver told me a gripper sensor broke causing it not to close all the way but the rain definitely didn't help

What does that garbage truck has problems because the problem that it has that I’m seeing the clot is like going up when I kind of see the driver put the claw up then just slips through and goes into the garbage truck
Just so were clear, we (MACK) only build the truck and frame, then ship to a "BODY SHOP" the customer chooses to have that company install Dump,Flatbed,Roll-off,Tri-axle,crane,cement pump w/e they need.

Thanks for the comment. For reference this was all over one small sensor that caused all of these problems. They send the truck back to Mack and it’s fixed now

i would say its not just the truck but partly fault of the driver gripping the can right at the top seems very odd
He did that because the claw wouldn’t grip and it gave him more time to pull the bin down before the bin fell in.
Ya he obviously had more of a chance of holding the toter up.where it is wider which actually made sense. Kudos to WM driver for doing what he can with what he had to work with.

I see the problem the claw is not coming down low enough to pick up the trash can in the middle it's gravity at the top and that's what it keeps throwing them in the trash can all the trash truck or throwing it on the ground

It is obvious that the bucket grip is quite loose & not working properly. The rubbis truck should be sent to the service centre to have the bucket grip system repaired, adjusted and inspected thoroughly for any faulty or loose parts before the rubbish truck can be used again.

This truck is certainly screwed up, usually labries are supposed to squeez the cart a lot. If I was the driver, I would have called the mechanic and ask for him to fix the truck lol

Wouldn't it have been cheaper and easier for the driver to ring the depot and get them to either send a mechanic out to fix it, or bring another cart and swap them. Surely they must have 1 at least sitting in the yard spare, especially with this Covid thing going on at the moment that cart is eating bins nearly faster than they can produce them.
Well. The driver decided to just finish up the route only had an hour left and by the time he got a spare it would have taken longer. Also for the carts they were all retrieved, it just took a while

So with the bins it was a case of - here's your bin back, it's a different shape, - (new style "crusher tested"), - doesn't have any wheels, and no lid, - other than that you should be able to get a bag or two in. I liked the lorry at the beginning - now that's what we in the UK call - 'A Truck' - very nice indeed, operators name suited it as well. Was the 'bar device' for some form of full length sheeting the load, or for lifting things on and off. Oh yes I forgot to say you have a 'new subscriber' as well.
