I literally just visited Carowinds for the first time from the 14th to the 17th of this month. I only felt the trims ever so slightly. I had massive air time everytime I rode Intimidator. I definitely have it in my top 3 for the park!
I prefer the front. My April 2022 rides gave much better floater in the front, but the back row has legit ejector on the first drop due to the longer trains. Epic ride, but I still can't put it above #4. Copperhead and afterburn are just so good! And fury of course is an untouchable #1 (sorry L rod)
There seems to be a misunderstanding of trims. Trims are there to keep the train moving at the correct speed. If you are getting trims your train is actually moving faster than it should be. Trims aren't causing a slower ride, it's just correcting to what it should be. On Fury specifically, the trim on the small camelback hits much harder at night when the train is running faster. Be happy you got a hard trim; means you got a more intense ride👍
I went on a rainy day so the park was completely empty and this let me get about 15 rides in on intimidator. This ride provides great airtime and a seriously underrated night ride.
If I ask you how do you compare your favorite B&M hyper coaster to Intimidator, both being B&M airtime based hyper coasters? Canobie Coaster would say: Better airtime, better pacing, better views, and... How do you compare the two B&M hyper coasters in smoothness?
I've ridden intimidator so many times The front is awesome for the speed. The back is a whole different story. You get yanked over the top of the lift hill and each airtime hill feels stronger, leaning towards the light floajector type of airtime.
I’ve rode after burn, Carolina cyclone, and Tennessee tornado at dollywood, do you think I’m prepared for intimidator? This ride is on my bucket list but I’ve been very scared to ride it.
went on this on april 13th and its SUPER underrated, i got insane floater before we even got to the top of the camel backs. i also weigh around 160 so im around the middle.
Had an absurdly crazy ride on this last week. I don’t feel like the mid course brakes kicked in that ride, cause the drop off the brake run in the back was strong af, was flung out of my seat. Maybe it was a weird day but I got amazing rides on it
Something to note about Intimidator: There is a camelback for each of Dale Earnhardt's Championships. A big reason why I hope this coaster doesn't get rebranded to a superman post merger. It has local history and relevance.
Canobie Coaster would say: That same year, Kings Dominion received an even larger Intamin giga coaster named Intimidator 305. But Fury 325 is the only park where the Giga B&M hyper is actually better than the hyper B&M hyper, but I've already told you this before. Therefore: Carowinds was smart to build Fury 325: it put them on the map as being a bucket list coaster destination. Thanks for this awesome review!
@@CanobieCoaster Behemoth has a bigger drop directly followed by a huge and untrimmed airtime hill before the turnaround, which I think is better than Intimidator which starts w a smaller drop, turnaround, then and trimmed camelback, then another turnaround, then another trimmed camelback before the 1st untrimmed camelback. I also love the downwards helix in the back of Behemoth as well as every drop (except the 1st turnaround) so That's why I'd imagine Behemoth is considerably better.
I visited Carowinds over spring break. Intimidator provides an amazing rain ride if you aren't...intimidated...by the prospect of getting pelted with rain at those speeds (I'm sorry I had to say it given the weather the day I was there). It gives much stronger airtime in the rain than not, that's for sure.

Solid review. Intimidator *not 305* is certainly the worst B&M hyper I've ridden, but I've also only ridden this, Diamondback, and Fury lol. It's still a fantastic ride.
I just rode this for the first time the other day and my first thought what the first half was really good but it did nothing after the turn around. Plus it didn’t have a moment as powerful as Diamondback’s first couple camelbacks. Overall though it was a really fun ride.
I'm not really bothered by the trims either. It is a fun ride, solid # 3 in the park for me behind Fury & Copperhead. Towards the bottom of my B&M hyper list, but I have several ranked very close to each other. The occasional slight rattle has never bothered me, while some other B&M hypers have had rattles that bother me. On a busy Monday last year, they were cranking out the trains on Intimidator, keeping the line super short. Even the grouper was awesome, taking row requests. I like how the front, back, & middle give different experiences, and it's all great.
Intimidator and Fury are both supposed to shut down at winds at or above 40mph at the top of the lift, but Intimidator's sensor reads about 10mph too slow, so it shuts down at 50
Although I still prefer Candymonium for the better rounded ride it offers, Intimidator is an extremely underrated hyper. It is the only B&M hyper I’ve ridden that gives ejector airtime on the drop, and I even got flojector while descending the camelbacks in the back row. The trims are there, but they aren’t a huge deal to me.
Carowinds has a great top 4! This park has a lot of potential over the next 10-15 years. I've ridden all of the B&M Hypers in the US and Intimidator is #5 of the 8. The first half is on the same tier as #3 and #4, but the ending knocks it down. I do prefer it slightly to Apollo's Chariot and really prefer it to Nitro or Raging Bull. Overall it is my #4 at Carowinds. I prefer the back and the great thing is I've really never been denied the row request on this coaster.
I really liked the helix, although no one else seems to. The airtime hills push the maximum height they will function, sort of odd but opposite of Fury at least.
My biggest problem with Intimidator Carowinds is the theming. While it's an amazing coaster, it doesn't feel like a NASCAR or a race coaster. Its focus is floater air time... how is that race-like? This is what Intimidator 305 gets amazingly. While it still has amazing floater air time, its primary focus is whipping the rider around at break-neck speeds. I love it.
Imagine going to two B&M hyper coasters with airtime and staggered seating trains. One being Intimidator at Carowinds and one being your favorite of the genre (excluding gigas). What are the differences between Intimidator and your favorite B&M hyper, what do you think? Your favorite B&M hyper I'm referring to your favorite for airtime.
The last time I was a Carowinds, Intimidator was closed about 90% of the day for mechanical reasons. I almost missed out on it. I never saw a B&M hyper like that but I guess it can happen.
Oh my gosh what perfect timing! I’m going to Carowinds literally right now! I’m definitely going to ride on intimidator, fury 325, afterburn, and all of those rides. I’ll have to see if I notice the trim brakes or not, but let’s be honest, the trim brakes have never been a huge deal for me. Great video!

I was disappointed in Carowinds Intimidator. I didn't get much air other than the initial drop. I rode the front and could feel the front slow just a bit waiting on the rear to top the hill. I wanted to ride it again later in the back after I had rode the coasters I hadn't rode. Unfortunately, thunderstorms moved in and the park had to shut down.
Before watching: I'd guess the worst B&M hyper is the 2nd smallest; the one in China w the long name. Then comes Intimidator and Raging Bull. I'd probably still like it better than Afterburn because I'm older, love airtime and long rides. I don't know if I'd like it better than Copperhead Strike though.
This ride seems to have the same problem as Mamba and Wild Thing, in that it dies at the midcourse. I think it has fixed magnetic brakes, meaning they will always hit. Most B&Ms only have friction brakes on the midcourse, and the trains will go through faster. I know the one on Nitro at Great Adventure won't hit at all on a cold day, but that usually means trains are running very slow and the first half will be weak.
Airtime Thrills made a valid point for Carowinds investment and kds neglect in that Carowinds township gave them tax breaks if they brought tourists where kds township didn't do that
I think Hershey Park could possibly get a giga like fury if they buy more land and they also have a B&M Hyper. I think Hershey will get a giga in 5-10 years
This coaster is about FLOATER airtime NOT ejector airtime. For that, you don’t want to go over the hills fast. Most forceful G’s are up front in the train or a few rows back. Certainly NOT the middle, and IMO less forceful in the back.
my rides on this have always been eh at best and i have never got more than one airtime moment on it so i found this ride disappointing every time i ride it
I’ll be riding this this summer I’m not going in with super high expectations ‘ cause just based on the layout and how I normally see it running in POV‘s it always looked like one of the weakest B&M hypers to me like it doesn’t look to have nearly as many hills as the other hypers plus the layout is very uninspired
lol can confirm after my rides. It’s my least favorite of the B&M hyper in the Cedar Fair chain. It is still really fun. It’s my number four in the park. I did find it to be smoother than both diamondback and Behemoth though
It was decently fun for me but i found it lacking in character. It felt like a chain restaurant compared to fury, afterburn and copperhead feeling like distinguished rides. We found a place on the south end of the parking lot to picnic and watch the rides and had a good time laughing at how people stopped having any reaction to the ride in that drawn out turnaround. Still, it was fun. The kids really loved it. For some reason, the positives made my head hurt
It is a good reliable chain restaurant. I found the experience vastly different depending on where you sit, more than most coasters. There's barely any airtime in the middle, but the back delivers. I just wish the ending had a little more bang.
I don't understand the hate this coaster gets. At 232ft, it's North America's tallest hyper coaster that isn't a giga. Plus it's the 2nd best coaster in the park, behind Fury325.
There really is no comparison all practically do the same the thing and follow the same layout. Once you have been on one B and M hyper you have been on them all. B and M Makes fantastic rides but there hyper models are really redundant.
Like pretty much every B&M they made the hills too high and you crawl through the layout. Aside from that they trimmed nearly every hill and is reduced to forceless trash, One of the worst coasters I have been on. I honestly think the people who rave about it have not been on much else or to many other parks. Kinda why Fury 325 got the golden ticket award, because people just see a video and vote despite not riding it. Not saying Fury is terrible just not amazing, the B&M shudder is through almost the entire layout and it crawls in the second half.
I agree with you. Intimidator was a one and done ride for me because it was boring. I'd rather spend my time riding Flying Cobras or Hurler than Intimidator. As for Fury, it was fun but overhyped. You're right about the second half of the ride, especially the helix, being slow. Fury would be a better ride if it hit the final break run after the tremble clef instead of crawling through the second half.
@@cameronvincent7570 I wish they would have done some high speed low height hills with some snap twists or something instead of the standard B&M "how many big hills can we fit on this thing?". It has plenty of energy after the turnaround to do some cool stuff they just did not do it. I-305 was amazing for me if you have not rode it. Nothing like the one at Carowinds and made by a manufacturer who actually knows what force is.
@@spider0804 That's my biggest gripe with B&M too. Their rides are all similar. Lots of speed and big airtime hills. I-305 is amazing. Every Intamin I have ridden, with the exception of Skyrush, has been uniquely fun and exhilarating. I just wish they could figure out how to make their rides more reliable!
@@cameronvincent7570 I honestly think the reliability bit is overblown, when I look at downtimes for weeks, months, seasons at most parks they do not tend to be the highest downtime rides. Though I do think some notable examples like Dragster or Maverick have pushed that narrative quite a bit since people tend to focus on the boundary pushing rides. But that is kinda the thing, B&M really does not tend to push boundaries or try new things that often so they tend to work. If you look at RMC and their downtime charts it will probably be higher than an Intiman at the same park but no one seems to mention it.
The last B&M Stagger Train produce is surprisingly for Morgan Giga, Steel Dragon 2000. Which yeah, all people know is the last expected thing to be. In fact, it's not really stagger. B&M forced to drill new hole for relocating wheel seats and restrain to more center. Because the clearance is too tight against tunnel. They just shut the old seat hole with screw cap, and the wheel seat restrain put awkwardly. They don't even bother to design custom chassis The more we all know
This looks like a medium to maybe low tier B&M Hyper. Definitely not as good as Diamondback. Obviously it doesn't compare by he slitest to the other NASCAR themed coaster bit its full of floater. I actually know someone who prefers this to Fury which confuses me.

It was given good airtime in the first half that day though.
It looks much slower than it actually is because of the longer trains
I concur
This coaster is about FLOATER airtime NOT ejector airtime. For that, you don’t want to go over the hills fast. Most forceful G’s are up front in the train or a few rows back. Certainly NOT the middle, and IMO less forceful in the back.
And it certainly excels in the floater airtime department.
my rides on this have always been eh at best and i have never got more than one airtime moment on it so i found this ride disappointing every time i ride it
My rides keep getting better and better.
@@CanobieCoaster i hope they start to get better for me
I’ll be riding this this summer I’m not going in with super high expectations ‘ cause just based on the layout and how I normally see it running in POV‘s it always looked like one of the weakest B&M hypers to me like it doesn’t look to have nearly as many hills as the other hypers plus the layout is very uninspired
The first half is great.
The longer trains make it look much slower than it actually is
lol can confirm after my rides.
That's a fair way to describe it. But I like some chain restraurants.
It's definitely overcriticized.
To this as the 2nd or 3rd best ride at a park is a good deal.
Yes
The trims dont ruin the ride but they are the most noticeable on any ride ive ever been on
I feel that way on the first two.
It wasn't intrimidator today. Barely any brake on the first hill no brake on the second
Nice!
Even though the normal hyper coaster trains are more reliable I love these more
Both trains work for me.
I wonder why Carowinds decided to put so many trims on these airtime hills The first one can definitely be removed in my opinion
I think it was B&M's choice.
Unpopular opinion: I like intimidator better that I305
That's definitely a hot take among coaster enthusiasts.
7.5/10, second half keeps it from being elite
I agree.
Its a good ride in my opinion
Yes
first
now my question is, what do you think of
Find out in the review.
@@CanobieCoaster no im talking about
Intrimanator 200 ride it now at 4 great standout coasters park
Yes
Usually Trims Make The Airtime More Sustained But Now All The Airtime Comes On The Ascent
It gives plenty of airtime for me even when trimmed.
I got no airtime in the middle of the day
That's odd.
I just don’t get why they called it intimidator
NASCAR is big in the Carolinas.
@@CanobieCoaster true that
Intimidator is intrimidator, but intrimidator is good.
I've always enjoyed my rides.
There really is no comparison all practically do the same the thing and follow the same layout. Once you have been on one B and M hyper you have been on them all. B and M Makes fantastic rides but there hyper models are really redundant.
I find differences between them.
Imagine they added a fake race track and moving cars also to the one at Kings Dominion
That would be interesting.
The Hypers with these types of trains look almost the same
Except Shambhala, yes.
Fun Fact, This Ride Was Made By A Racing Legend Dare Earnhardt
It was?
Yes
At Carowinds, what do you think about Hurler and Intimidator?
Intimidator is great. Hurler is not.
Hurler is trash..It is a rough ride.
Awesome ride. Love it since it’s my home park.
Nice!
i somehow started laughing at intimidator not 305, what has my humor come to
Lol
I don’t think this coaster needed the mid-course
I'm guessing it was for capacity.
It's required to run 3 trains.
I love Fury. This one has a good 1st half even when trimmed.
They don't even bother to design custom chassis
The more we all know
That one is a weird 2 across.
It’s not a bad ride but damn, when you have Fury, this one just doesn’t compare.
I much prefer Fury too.
Thunder Striker was a disappointment for me in 2022. I recently rode it, and it was way better. It is moving up in my ranks.
I've gotten better rides on it post covid.
It’s Intrimidator
Yes
Differences between Shambhala and this are:
Shambhala has better airtime, better pacing, and a far better setting.
Tho I found it not as bad as people make it, I’d still say Intimidator is the weakest of the three Cedar Fair hypers.
It's close to Diamondback for me after my 2022 rides.
This looks like a medium to maybe low tier B&M Hyper. Definitely not as good as Diamondback. Obviously it doesn't compare by he slitest to the other NASCAR themed coaster bit its full of floater. I actually know someone who prefers this to Fury which confuses me.
This is close to Diamondback for me.
I literally rode intimator in front in rain and it hurts😂😂😂😂😅😅😅😅
I love rain rides.
I expect this to be the world's worst B&M Hyper.
It's not.
Apollos Chariot would currently take that title in my opinion. I was pleasantly surprised with Intrimidator that didn't seem to trim much.
Far from it. Towards the upper-tier.
It honestly looks so slow and boring
It has plenty of airtime and speed in the valleys.
@@CanobieCoaster it must just be the scale of it and how large the trains are that make it look so slow
Do you ever go do anything other than theme parks? Like go to a music festival or something
Not a music festival person. Outside of parks, I also love sports and games.
@@CanobieCoaster hey that's cool man. Me too
What do you think, better airtime in Intimidator?
Than Shambhala, no.
How many Bolliger & Mabillard hyper coasters in the world do you know with staggered seating? Which ones?
4. This, Behemoth, Diamondback, Shambhala.
If I ask you about how many B&M hyper coasters with staggered seating trains, Canobie Coaster would say:
Behemoth, Diamondback, Intimidator, and Shambhala.
If I ask you about those four in terms of smoothness, Canobie Coaster, what would you say?
Shambhala and Intimidator are the smoothest of those 4. The other two rattle at points.
