Catherine Deneuve is one of those rare brunettes who looks like she should have been a natural blond. When I saw that first picture of her with brown hair, I couldn't believe it was her. I have always thought she had at least a darker blond shade naturally. Also, all of us from the 80s and prior have had that regrettable blue eyeshadow moment. Catherine D got classier as she aged.

I really enjoyed this review. I had a Catherine Deneuve sighting in Paris in 1991 on the Champs Elysee. She was standing near an iron and gold gate, she looked very beautiful still.
I am SC, no wonder I look best with “neat and tidy” hair (rich deep red, no highlights) and classic feminine clothing. Thank you for this great dissection of this style!
Wish you could do the "it girl" of the 70s Ms. Farrah Fawcett. She never was a perfect beauty but all her features together made for a beautiful golden girl. Every teen wanted to be and look like her. Her amazing hair, tanned skin and sparkling blue eyes.
She never really puts a foot wrong through all of these decades. A true style icon. Hair to die for. A real inspiration for me as an older woman … she never lost ‘it’.

Aly, this came at the perfect time for me! I was just researching about her style as I’ve been in search of the perfect hair for my soft classic features. I’ve always loved the 1960s and the clean, tidy hair of that decade definitely suits my face much better than this fringe I experimented with during quarantine! 😂However, it was difficult for me to find 1960’s hair without bangs/curtain bangs as bangs just disrupt the line of my rounded face, but then I came across Catherine Deneuve who was a verified soft classic from the 1960’s! Very clean lines with her hair and no bangs. And THEN you released this video! As always, you’re a God sent!!! ❤️
I've been seeking to redefine my personal style and I think Catherine's a great role model. I love how her style in the last three shots is just as fashionable in 2021 as it was back then.

Hi. I’m a SC. It’s more about the weight, sheen, and details. A crisp cotton button-up shirt, for example, is best when the corners of the collar are slightly rounded, not necessarily like a Peter Pan collar, but the edges are softened, and the buttons are mother of pearl, and the shirt isn’t overly starched. Even better if the shoulders are slightly pinched or gathered, neither cleanly seamed nor super poofy. I’m still learning. Soft Classics seem to really sing in pieces that are subtly ladylike and these types of pieces end up looking super put together on us instead of overtly prissy.
it’s so true that SC look best with a uniform hair color. I’m sc, (pretty sure at least lol) and my natural hair grows in this weird stripey looking color way, I have natural platinum highlights and then really dark brown low lights. I dye it a uniform brown and it looks so much more “natural” and suits me better than my actual natural color.

To me, I think she really came into her own, and felt most in her skin in the 1970s and beyond. Either way, eternal beauty and style icon.

I had a question about the types, what would happen to each type if they were put into a corset? Such as if you were to put a dramatic into a corset with waist emphasis would that make them appear more curvy in the center or would it look strange in comparison to the rest of their body?
Hi Aly, I've done kibbe body types test and I scored as a soft classic, but I'm 1,72 m tall and way curvier on the bottom half of my body, but I clearly see my face and style align with soft classic. Is that even possible?
Great job on Catherine Deneuve , 90% of what we saw her wearing in your pictures was Yves Saint Laurent…. And you managed to never mention it once … interesting…. Again great job on the actress named by American press in 1968 the most beautiful woman in the world … there has been very few who got that title …. And Deneuve is still turning movies after movies … some 140 movies for the Queen of French cinema . . . *****
Katherine is gorgeous but she gives me more of a gamine vibe for some reason. Might be the 60's hairstyle, since that era was very gamine ish. I'm Soft Classic too but I don't follow the recommendations for my type anymore. They never seemed to work for me. Now I follow what I like and feels best on me, which does still align with some soft classic tips interestingly enough, like the minimalistic approach and simple makeup.
Fantastic research, I really enjoyed this! Thanks so much Hi Aly. Can you please do a Style Review of Brigitte Bardot? PS - I just realised how much Faye Dunaway looks like Johnny Depp - does anyone else see it? :)
You mentioned soft classics look better over all color no highlights or streaks or whatever else does this rule apply to classics and dramatic classics ? I been told I'm classic or soft classic . I bleach my hair but mines is dead not great looking at all I got hair envy going on here.
Very interesting. It might just be my individual vision, but I actually find her features, escpecially on her face...a bit mascular? Like her bonestructure in her face is very visible and a bit strong in my eyes. I thought that soft classic is supposed to be more delicate. Probably this is why I can't decide which type I am. My question is, is this a 'problem' within my perception, or what I see is exactly what SC is and I just believed it wasn't?

Hi Aly, I've done kibbe body types test and I scored as a soft classic, but I'm 1,72 m tall and way curvier on the bottom half of my body, but I clearly see my face and style align with soft classic. Is that even possible?
Great job on Catherine Deneuve , 90% of what we saw her wearing in your pictures was Yves Saint Laurent…. And you managed to never mention it once … interesting…. Again great job on the actress named by American press in 1968 the most beautiful woman in the world … there has been very few who got that title …. And Deneuve is still turning movies after movies … some 140 movies for the Queen of French cinema . . . *****
I LOVE this series
You didn't mention Deneuve's clothes in Belle de Jour by YSL! They were trend setting! She was his lifelong muse and she wore his clothes constantly.
Very nice video. I tried to open your Pinterest boards but was not able to...
Lovely! Plz do Brigitte Bardot!
Beautiful Lady!
This was so interesting. Can you please do one of these videos about someone with a romantic body type? 💕
she already did Marylin Monroe, it was one of the first videos in this series :)
@@MakeyJu Thank you!

Fantastic research, I really enjoyed this! Thanks so much Hi Aly. Can you please do a Style Review of Brigitte Bardot?
PS - I just realised how much Faye Dunaway looks like Johnny Depp - does anyone else see it? :)
Omg could you please do Carolyn Basette Kennedy ? I feel she had a very amazing sense of style
Is she a soft classic?
Certainly not. @@linaaa2364
I watched her in a film the truth on BBC one evening she looked stunning , classes french film made 2019
You mentioned soft classics look better over all color no highlights or streaks or whatever else does this rule apply to classics and dramatic classics ? I been told I'm classic or soft classic . I bleach my hair but mines is dead not great looking at all I got hair envy going on here.
She worked a lot with Yves saint Laurent in the 60s and 70s
Who are the soft natural icons?
Trying to access the Pinterest links but they don’t seem to be working.
Love this look!!! Im inspired by it but sadly am a Romantic
Everything is beautiful for these actresses until the 80s. Some of those looks are a bit cringey. I say this as a child and lover of the 80s.
How do we keep up on blonde roots though!?
please do brigitte bardot!
will you please please please do something for the guys also? there isnt much on the internet regatding menswear and body types.
✅ very helpful video!
Thank you so much
I think I might be soft classic. I’ve studied kibble for about a year now but I’m still unsure of my type.
Me, too!!
my soft classic physique clashes with my absolutely not soft and not classic character.
