It takes your blood sweat and tears to be living at all….might be the best one liner I’ve ever heard. This song is an anthem. I saw you guys play in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in March of 2022. Brought my pregnant wife with me. What a show.
Anton I just saw Bjm in Nashville. it was my first time. I loved every second of it. I was hoping to meet you and just tell you thank you. I've been a fan for 14 years and your music has meant so much to me. it got me through some very tough times. so thank you for the beautiful and great music you have given us. this song you opened with and it'll forever hold a special place in my heart. again thank you
this is, for me, one of the best songs Anton wrote in last years. Just one of these that makes me go pick my guitar and go... Thanks Anton, for all you gave and continue to give.
Oh man we need you in Peru. Discover your music was the best thing that has happened to me in my life. All your songs have a great significance to me, the melody, the solos, all of it..... The best feelings I had were with your music. Hope someday I could see you in a concert in Peru. Is my dream and wish. Literally, I would cry of happiness if this happens. Keep making music, Anton. Your stuff is and is going to be always great and marvelous. Cheers from a twenty years old Peruvian fan.
One of the most surreal moments of my life was at The Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow. Anton was sound checking this song, and only two or three of the other band members were on the stage at this point, the entire room was empty. I sat right in the middle of the room and watched and listened, my friends were all super excited and talking and taking photos and I was just sitting there listening. Every now and again Anton stopped and would point something out, he sat on his amp and was thinking about what needed changed, what was wrong etc. There was something really magic in that moment. When BJM were in full swing and the room was full, when they played Pish I was right up the back, the music was washing over me and I was taking in all of the people who were here to see BJM play. The Brian Jonestown Massacre is perhaps the band that the 'world' tries to keep down more than many/most/all others because of the underlying 'spiritual' or political/whatever implications that them becoming massive would have, and also the band that that same force is failing most to keep down.
Great story. There is something indescribable, intangible about Anton Newcombe. I've heard comments like "did what the Beatles wanted to do, but could not quite reach it" and from someone who first heard "Take It From The Man" twenty years after it was released marveling and asking "How could I have missed this?" There IS no other musician like Anton. What "keeps him down" is this, and it's sounds arrogant, but it's not being said out of arrogance: Anton operates on a level so rarefied few people can even hear it, much less understand it. The first time I heard BJM was in 2003, "When Jokers Attack." And This Is Our Music was in my possession 48 hours later. I still play it at least three to five times a week. And I own every release of BJMs before and since. And I listen to that when I'm not listening to And This Is Our Music. I can't help myself. Sure, there's other decent music out there, and I enjoy it, but nothing comes within light years of Anton. I've tried to explain it. I've FORCED people to listen to it, waiting for that light to go on in their eyes. I've yet to see it. And I don't get it. Sooooo..... I feel blessed, as anybody who considers themselves a "fan", though somehow that word just doesn't seem to fit. I dunno. I've long since quit trying to understand it. I just sit back and feel lucky that gene I have in the ol' DNA connects me to this music, and can feel a little smug about it and at the same time feel a bit sad for those who just can't hear it.
Dig your observation at the soundcheck, Anton in his cosmos and you had a ticket to it. It was a phenomenal concert, definitely spellbinding, great venue, bands i see at Barrowland always deliver mighty vibes. The ingredients come together and all ascend. You Kundalini? Your set was rocking, you were enjoying it, you set up BJTM real well. The whole world should witness Anton and the guys live, would do a power of good for everyone. 7 guitars finale was Morricone-esque, sent me onto the Glasgow streets with invincibility in the heel and toe and groove in the heart n soul. #Roar

I make my own, very different music but this connects in that special, haunting, human, vulnerable yet determined way, especially since I was notified 3 mos. ago of the suicide of the woman I loved who moved away. Keeps me coming back...
These songs are just beautiful. But its "the pace" that just grabs the ears so hard. It appears as effortless and thats how I know its instinctive and craft at its apex. This band recording now... today ...is extraordinary.. period. The album after "something else" must be headed towards double wax? Both will be classics. Thank you for the whole damn trip.
