- At the start of June, myself, my daughter, my niece and her friend, took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is 24-miles (38.6km) round trip route, and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent. It takes on the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres), and in under 12 hours. These hills form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
This challenge was a good personal fitness challenge as well as using it to raise money for the charity Twinkling Stars Appeal. The charity are committed to delivering the Twinkling Stars maternity bereavement suite at Kettering General Hospital. A much needed resource in our community. The walk was completed in memory of my great nieces, Alice and Amelia.
