Hey Taste, can I recommend some games for you?
1) Sonic Mania. It takes fans back to the classic 90s days of Sonic, most of the levels were reimagined classics, meaning that they were already in a Sonic game, but some of them were new. Made by fans, for fans, possibly of fans (joke). Yes, this is on the PC, I recommend the collectors edition, it looks amazing.
2) Megaman Sprite Game. There was a character back then since 1987 named Mega-Man, he had 10 games plus some reboots, then some fans made their own parody of Mega-man where all the characters have the same weird expression. If you want to get the good ending, then stay on the path. If you step off the path, you will get arrested.
3) EarthBound. This was the game that inspired Undertale to become a thing, and you can get it for virtual console on the Wii U.
4) Polybent. Nobody knows this game because it hasn't become a thing yet. I'm actually the one who created the idea and story and what not. When it comes to the Nintendo Switch possibly in 2018, it will be phenomenal.
I feel like I forgot some games I recommend you, but that's good for now.
