These are also great to double up as a pair of nunchucks when someone tries to get into your tent during the night.
100% Ninja turtle style
Thank you. Great review. On the basis of your video, I've just ordered myself a pair. I've used traditional twist and clamp lock poles for years and have been using a pair of Leki Makalu Strongs for the past two years, but when collapsed they're all still pretty long (my Lekis are 71cm (28") when collapsed, for example). I've often thought of getting some z-poles just for the compactness when folded and these seem like a great entry into that world for me. So, thanks again! :-)
Glad I could help
Very nicely done. Appreciate the review and glad to see someone getting out there and having fun
I've put these poles through hell haha, check out my Tower of Babel video, one of them got so scratched up on that hike but still works perfectly fine!
I've got these same one's i love them ,use them to backpack the Appalachian trail a lot and there nice to stowe in your pack when you have to get off the trail to resupply
great job mate! helped me to unlearn wrong doings and learn the right way.
I just ordered these using the link Thanks for the info!!
Bought these poles and I agree they are quite decent but definitely agree about the attachments coming loose, I’ve lost 3 already in the snow and mud. The main gripe is removing the pin lock for the straps, it just will not come out no matter which way I push. Now I have one pole with no strap because it came out and it’s seems impossible to get back in.
Great review, which poles are best the trek z o trek z 2.0?...
I just got me a pair of these poles, pretty decent quality for the price.
Really light is kinda relative. I'm training and getting gear for a 850km hike so every gram counts and I think these are pretty heavy compared what's out there.
I am looking for aluminium poles and I'll be pitching my tent with one of them so a quick-lock would be nice. I Don't trust carbon and don't wanna be paying over 100€ for poles. It's hard to believe these are the best option for me but they are highly recommended for budget option. These actually might be the ones to get.
Over a year after I posted this video I'm still using these poles. One of them the handle keeps popping off in mud or deep snow so I JB welded it onto the frame and its perfect again.
Really great review!! I liked so much! new sub
Great Review 👍
Great review!
Great overview!
I had two different cheap foldable poles which broke after little use. One because the sprung pin didn’t pop out properly and the other because the inner cable became detached, I have bought a pair of these now so fingers crossed. Generally I have found flip lock poles are good, just keep them adjusted properly. Cheap twist lock poles break. BTW I hate sprung poles, a real put off. Thanks for great review.
Have you gotten the chance to try them out?
@@LilSplash10 Yup. they seem pretty good quality.
@@ynyslochtyn Great! Thanks for the reply
Both of these just broke for me after about 150 mountains so pretty good value
@@IdRatherBeHiking After 150 mountains, I think you need a break too!
I own the others that they make - solid poles for sure
which other poles?
@@IdRatherBeHiking they do not have a name - but they are made by trekology - amzn.to/3mepqcg I own these
Thank you. Very useful
Do you still use the sticks? Have you ever experienced the knobs do not come out because they are stuck in the pipes?
Please identify all tips snow, mud
Didn’t think I’d need to watch the video but I am lol
Dude you’re the Moose on the Loose guy!!
haha ya
These companies should just incorporate the wrist strap to easily wrap the poles together.
agreed
Is there an issue with joints coming out when your in mud or boggy conditions,as per when you pull it apart to pack?
no because the sections are held in with the cable that is stretched tight when unfolded and in use.
The grip is simulated cork, not real cork.
its really hard to watch a review when the reviewer doesn't even use the straps properly... good review but what you said about your wrists and how you use your arms when tired... put your hands up and through the strap, then grip the pole and strap at once, that way the strap takes the strength of the pole rather then your grip strtength, also if you fall they actually drop away rather than chances of breaking hands.
ya that is true, this video is like 6 years old as well
I agree and surely his point about the shaft sliding when clamped would apply to where the shaft meets the handle.
lightweight , eh? .... weighing at over 26 oz, they are definitely not !
they were 4 or 5 years ago when I made this video. I have fizan ones that are half the weight now
@@IdRatherBeHiking
they are good pair of poles but not for me. i gave them away for much lighter poles
I would consider them light as well! I have a pair of them so does my wife.
