Used an Eden 1x12 4ohm cab with tc bam 200 head in church and out for several years. Now gk fusion 1200 head, 2x12 and 1x15 Neo cabs. Big difference. Still use the Eden 1x12 often for gigs with the gk head. Sounds awesome
One thing I've learned about churches, is there are all different types. I play at traditional churches where clean tone is more of the rule. I use a Markbass Little Mark and 15" cab if I'm not going through FOH. I use a pedal board with Line6 wireless, Polytune, Empress Bass Compressor, and a Tone Hammer. If I use the AGS circuit, the gain is only up to the point of breakup. Not to give any dirt, but more to give a tube like tone. The DI on the Tone Hammer is set for post-EQ. On the pedal board, I have my ATW-3255 wireless IEM system as I don't like to use monitors. I just started using a Temple Audio board. That's it.

Been using mesa subway d800 head into a subway 210 and 115 cab at church just for monitoring on stage. My bass is plugged directly into a KHAN VTDI that goes to FOH. I use the through on the DI to send to my onstage mesa rig. Sounds absolutely fantastic.
We have a total clean stage in my church, no amps or cabinets. My bass signal goes straight from my bass into a wireless pack, then shoots over to the FOTH. I used to hate it, but once i bought a good set of inears, im cool with it now.

I run a Zoom ms-60b+ into a Rumble 100 and then a line out to the house. I'm just playing with an organ, electric piano, and choir, so in that setting it's plenty. Great discussion
I like the flat no EQ sound the best. I Also like the fact that it has the dirt channel. Adding a little distortion helps it cut and sit in the mix better without having to over EQ it.
I've realized that gigging with everything in flat that's where everyone feels the bass, the only tweak I make is to lower or add lows depending on the venue.
Seems like the gospel chops crowd loves GK. I'd say Aguilar, GK and class D Ampeg are the way to go in terms of reliability. The MAIN problem with Ashdown as a US player is there's little to no support basically and they do ultimately "thermal" and die has been my experience as a past endorser of them (they do sound amazing though). Just my 2c
Im honoured to play bass at the church i belong too. We mainly buy all our own gear, but the church kindly bought an EBS microbass 3 D/i. I love the sound i get from it when using an MTD Kingston super 5.
This was awesome TD!!! I play out of a fender rumble 210 500 W bass amp and it does pretty good but my keyboardist is always telling me that she wants a lil bit more deep sound and I’m afraid to really dial in the sound because I’m afraid the stream would be compromised
If you buy two 2x10 speakers you also have a 4x10 speaker and can also stand them upright to form a small tower so the sound comes a little more at ear level. Otherwise, the 2×10 boxes can always be easily stored in the car. And you can easily carry them alone without breaking your back. For medium sized stages, simply combine a 2×10 with a 4×10.
Excellent video Travis. Some stuff there I hadn't considered. It's been a while since I played in a church setting, but I had my old 1 x 15" 100w mic'd (no DI, it's from 1985). I really don't like silent stages, from a players point of view - I want to feel the bass - and an audience point of view - visually I like a nice back line, and I find in-ears uncomfortable for anything over 20 minutes. And .... I ordered myself a RM500 EVOII yesterday! I love the Ashdown tone, but going to pair it with a Barefaced 210 or 212 I think. Maybe a couple of BB3s? Too many options..... :)
For church, we used to have a small 50watt? Fender Rumbler. Now we just use a DI box direct into the board. Nothing special... I run my bass (Sire M7 5 string) into a Zoom B3 then into the DI. But that's mostly for the tuner. The other base player uses the churches Squire... and it's passive and straight into the DI. I plan on buying a Sushi DI sometime this fall or early spring.

I play without an AMP at church, play through some kind of DI pedal, mostly NUX or Behringer. I also mix sound every other Sunday, trust me as a player I want a 8 x 12 cab and amp on stage, as an engineer I know not to. The church building is not equipped to handle even my 15w 1 x 10 combo amp on stage, listen to your sound engineers, they make you sound good outside also, and I love the low ends, MD have had multiple fights with me while mixing.
I'd push for any Fender Rumble 100 or above if/when my church buys a new bass amp... Right now our house amp is a Frankenstein with a Fender Bassman 100W combo plugged into a 410 cab. It gets loud enough for the church sanctuary, but it's getting close to being on its last leg.
First off, let me say, there is 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨 with your gear choice or set up. I primarily use Ashdown myself and favor their sound, clean or dirty. When I use mine out, and my cabs are the main sound, I use RM 115 & 210 EVO II cabs. If I'm using the amp as a DI, then I use the 115 for a monitor/load for my CTM-30 all tube head, which requires a speaker load. I did notice you used the RM 800 EVO III and the RM-410 EVO III cab. If you're just using them for stage monitoring (and DI output) they 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 be a bit of overkill, if that's all they are being used for. If there may be needed for playing out too, then you have plenty of headroom to work with and it's a great choice. You or other potential users could also use the RM 500 EVO III and RM 115 EVO III if you're just using it for stage feel/monitor. This pairing would be good for those with a little tighter budget, need a little smaller and/or lighter set up or just slightly lower volume. You didn't cover the Cab Sims featured on these amps. It should be noted, unless the FOH/soundperson knows you're using the sims, all the setting should be turned off and the soundperson can set the sound from the booth. A more experienced/knowledgeable player can set the sims of choice, as long as the FOH knows, but otherwise, just leave them off. I also noticed in the live setting that you had the cab at floor level pointing at your knees. Since you are using it for feel more than sound monitoring, this is fine. It should be noted for those who use an amp and cab as the primary sound, it needs to be raised up closer to or pointed to ear level, so you can hear the higher frequencies. (Your knees don't have ears, lol!)
I REALLY want the Aguilar AG500 V2. I currently play through the PA at church, but I can barely hear myself and it’s doing me and the band a disservice. Convincing my wife to drop almost 2k on an amp for church is the hard part lol
I had a mark bass cabinets 2 speed 10” . It was awesome perfect.. but now im thinking between Darkglass DG210D 500-watt or Markbass MB58R CMD 102 PURE Bass Combo .. bc at church im going now is medium to small but a combo .. its annoying to setup cabinet and amp together combo its way easier but i would like to know what u guys recommend
Hello Friends: I just received a RM 800 EVO III but before I can start using it, I need to know. I would like to know if this amp can be used without a cabinet connected. That is, use the head as a preamp to record directly to my interface, or use the D.I to go to a mixer and then to the same home studio monitors. Right now I don't have a cabinet, but I would like to start using it. What recommendations do you have for me in this case? Could you help me, I can't find any information on this subject. Greetings.

Head & cab or combo isn't a big deal. It's the features. It's the features available and the what tone are you after. I use assorted Ashdown amps and a couple Rumble amps. The Ashdowns are my main sound and the Rumbles are tonally the opposite, bass amp wise, from the Ashdowns. The Rumble's preamp is primarily a mid scooped sound, while the Ashdowns are a mid/low-mid heavy sound. The Rumbles lack a true compressor. They do have the Delta Comp, which works on the output, mainly to limit the signal going to the power output and DI output, so it's more of a limiter than a compressor. The DI is still post EQ and Master Volume, which means if the operator makes adjustments, it's going to affect the signal to the board. The Rumble's Overdrive isn't all that great. If I use it, it's at very low amount of drive, and level at the same as the clean signal. If you don't use drive in your styles or use your own drive, then no problems. A nice feature of the Rumbles is if your player has their own Preamp, they can plug into the Effects Return and control everything from his/her preamp (start with the output level low and turn up until the volume is sufficient). The Effects Return is before the Delta comp, DI and Power output stage, so it is working like a power amp. Travis did pretty good covering the Ashdown Root Master EVO III series amps, except he didn't cover the DI cab sim outputs.
Man… I kinda hate the 8x10. Not sure if the modern ones have it together. The modern tone is so huge bottom and huge mids and top that a 15+4x10 does the trick for me. I’m playing an Ampeg 8x10 at church and it feels so low fi. We’re old school though where we just play loud as all get out full blown organ Leslie drums
No, it's only good for non-sacred spaces. You want to get a Trace Elliot brand, they anoint their cabs with holy water and the first sound they play through the amp is a nun's prayer. You could anoint whatever brand you want but for an amp that you can be sure won't offend the creator of reality, you want that nun.

That what I use. I have two 1x12” cabs, generally one is enough for the room, but two look cooler.

Same here, when I played churches. Also, no touching volume knobs and no hard nocks on the B string. If you violated thos rules, you got mixed out.

At this point there is no reason to get a 8x10 cab. You can get a 4x10 with greater frequency response and with 1000+ plus watts now.
