Hey Jimbo, I had 2 of the last gen SLX MGL 70 and loved them. Now that I have the new gen, they are even better. I have many models much much pricier in my arsenal but this new gen SLX 70 is still one of my favorites to fish with. I've been telling everyone about this reel since the first gen and I thank you for bringing some much needed attention to all of its incredible abilities... tight lines, bro!!!
@@jasonbruno3483 u bet! Not a fan of centrifugal braking in general but this thing is making me think twice as I will use this fall season to see if It will change my mind!
pretty much. Played with so many brands in the past. As mentioned, the KastKing Speed Demon Elite tried a similar approach and I felt like it took forever to get it dialed in.
I have the slx mgl and I use 15lb braid to 12lb leader could go lighter on the leader. Just too much grass where I fish. Works great for anything 1/8oz up and throwing weightless flukes or wacky riggs, granted you need to dial it in and have a bit of thumb control. Not quite bfs but for bass it's a great reel. And yes I do use bfs by the way (ark gravity bfs and love that one too).
Sounds amazing! I can't wait to get on the water and do some real fishing. I might just ditch the mono completely before going on the water lol. Thx for sharing
Definitely a nice real but for anywhere between 105-125 I’m getting a tatula tw 100 or for 160 on sale I’m getting a tatula tw 103. Daiwa has the best breaking system in the business. I can cast both of those tatulas a country mile and they are straight up workhorses. Thanks for the info jimbo it’s much appreciated. Tight lines !!!
@@Daiwa_Is_King we need to take a step back, that price is not normal! And given both brands are Japanese... We can obtain Shimano price cheaper just like Daiwa JDM reels :p. But let's do try and push Daiwa for the rebirth of Fuego reels! Phoenix bird shall bring back the flame!
I found you a subscribed after hearing you on aa anglers. I decided to try some BSF with equipment I had on hand. I loaded an old 1000 reel with 12 pound braid. I grab the smallest lure I have. The ones that I never use. First time out. 7 nice bass. Now I am hooked. My catch rate is way up. I went a 2 time with great results. The third time I went I tried a fast 6:2:1 kastking. The small baits can’t take the speed. I have a question. Specifically for spinning reels. I noticed the super small crank baits need to go slow. The old spinning reel that I was using is 4:1:1. The new kastking spinning reel I have are all faster. What is a good slow spinning reel. It looks like the trend is all faster reels. I want something quality with a slower speed.
Thx for checking out my channel! Unfortunately, I don't know anything about spinning setups. As AA anglers have indicated I'm all about bait casting setups and BFS fishing! Ark will be coming out with a slower bfs reel this fall and bait finesse empire currently carry the Tsurinoya elf reel which is a slow bfs reel! Hope that helps if you want to get into the world of bfs fishing!
Glad you have caught on that last statement I have made! Cuz I will be pushing it by playing more with SLX products! Shimano will dominate the market easily with this guy here. I may play with that SLX 150a... it's MGL spool too! just need to sell my old SLX 151 lol
@@rawrfishing I've never fished a centrifugal brake reel before but it seems like once you dialed the spool brake pads and external right, casting seems to be quite carefree. I might get the newest SLX and try it for myself! great content as always man!

@@james3102 I am a fan of my Daiwa Alphas SV TW 800S! Give it a shot! I will be changing to PE line sometime in the future and try this reel with 1/8tb oz Jig for swimbait plastics, like what I portrayed here! I will bet the PE line will allow me to launch it!
8 lbs is not a good way to describe line as every American brand down play their actually line strength. I use 0.4 gou diameter as the thinnest for my most UL bfs fishing.
Centrifugal braking is all about that thumb! That svs infinity braking system with external dial helps a lot! Color me impressed! Could be a nice beginner friendly reel for those who wanna use centrifugal braking!
It really depends how you setup your reel. If you are referring to this slx with the svs infinity braking system... As portrayed, it makes it much easier than traditional centrifugal braking reels!
It's always nice to see you have fun and be surprised with a new reel. Be blessed. My friend.
Thanks 👍, It's always great to find a new toy good! but there's time where I have to return that product ASAP lol!
