Stop preaching. That's one reason nobody likes Christians. He's respecting your beliefs even though he doesn't agree with you, the least you can do is not criticize him on his own page.
Only love fills the void of human existence. God is love. Thank you Blackie. Only learned today of your Christianity. WASP was one of the most underrated bands of rock, let alone the 80’s..
At a place called Golgotha (meaning "The Skull" in Hebrew), Jesus was crucified between two criminals, one on the right and one on the left. And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they are doing.” Amid the crowd that stood by, watching, the chief priests ridiculed and sneered at Him, saying, “He saved others from death; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed) of God, His Chosen One.” Roman soldiers, who cast lots and divided His clothes among themselves, also mocked Jesus. They cruelly offered Him sour wine, and sarcastically said, “If you are really the King of the Jews, save Yourself!” One of the criminals who had been hanged on a cross beside Jesus kept hurling abuse at Him, saying, “Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us from death!” But the other one rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? We are suffering justly, because we are getting what we deserve for what we have done; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” And he said, “JESUS, PLEASE REMEMBER ME when You come into Your kingdom!” Jesus said to him, “Truly, I assure you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” (Meaning the Third Heaven, the "Garden" between death and the Resurrection.) [Paraphrase of Luke's account of the crucifixion, 23:32-43] In "Golgotha," Blackie Lawless sings from the point of view of the "righteous" condemned man, confronting his mortality and asking Jesus if he is beyond all hope. That's a character with whom many people can relate at some point in their lives: I know I certainly can. In the video, the crucified criminal who mocks Jesus is blinded by crows, which descend on him and gouge out his eyes. The crow, of course, being the folkloric link between the land of the living, and the realm of the dead. (This metaphor also appears in Mushroomhead's stealthily Christian "Sun Doesn't Rise" video th-cam.com/video/U601GTVIJcw/w-d-xo.html ) “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they should see with their eyes and perceive with their heart, and turn for Me to heal them.” -- John 12:40 Also, in the video we see Jesus being flogged by a skeletal Priest. The imagery strongly suggests that it is the Church, as an institution, which has perverted the message of Christ's ministry, the meaning of his sacrifice, and the free gift of God's grace.
Im a Christian and just found your channel. You seems to be an honest person. Even if we havent the same point of view. I love this song of different reasons. Blackie have a very special voice. It carry so much emotions. Thank you for a good reaction :)
It's amazing, but it's also logical. Simply Blackie is not only a musician but also in a constant search for truth and happiness. Knowing his family background (Christian family, with mother demonstrating not that rare hypocritic behavior) Starting with searching for happiness and satisfaction in wild .partying, running from his childhood god (W.A.S.P & The Last Command). With the first two records Blackie reached success, but it seems not to satisfy his needs. Then he started to search for guilty others & fucked up world (Inside The Electric Circus, Headless Children). He discovered, that finding the ones responsible didn't satisfy him either, so he understood that has to search for the answers within himself and his family (The Crimson Idol, Still Not Black Enough). He realized that he is fucked up inside - he found the answer what's wrong, but still didn't find a way to heal his emotional wounds. So he started to run another circle of anger (Helldorado), the vicious world (KFD, Dying For The World) to fucked-up self (The Neon God). But coming to the same point for the second time, he decided not to keep running in circles. To do that he had to start healing his wounds. And having in mind his christian background, it not surprising that he chose this way. After running in circles for 25 years, he was finally able to separate true christian beliefs from hypocrisy caused by man's weakness. So not surprising at all.
@@matijag5919 Thank you Matija for sharing this, it is a clever analysis, a clever attempt to reconstruct the guy's spiritual journey and explain his current beliefs, although it is still hypothetical, because it is based on speculations ( unless you know Blackie Lawless personally ), but speculations which are somehow relevant, due to the informations that Blackie gave of his past life, in interviews. It shows that we are all human, no matter how bigger-than-life image, a person has been given by the entertainment industry. God-like worshipped stardom is worthy of being explored in it's most deep, unconscious layers. It's strange, but when I first listened to WASP in the eighties, when I read interviews with him, in Hit Parader and Kerrang, when I saw this want-to-kill outfit he was wearing on, with that attached, bloody round chainsaw at his left arm, and when I heard him say : ''Tipper Gore can go f*ck with the PMRC'' ! , I had this feeling that although of his hellish rebelious attitude, Blackie Lawless was hiding both a very reasonable and sensitive nature, as most of artists do ( however, there are exceptions, of course ). It seems that some of the great satanists used to be sincerely believing in God at first, but have been deceived and troubled by the acts of religious hypocrisy and false christians leading the western world. I thank God that Blackie shows more of his true nature now, in his songs, Now, you would need to perform this psychological analysis on most of politicians and Holywood actors. I am curious of what we would come to !
I completely agree! I am a huge W.A.S.P. fan, but this song blew me away!! It's like Blackie is singing the lyrics right into your soul! I have just discovered this 2015 song in 2021, but I have listened to this song at least hundred times and I love it over and over again each time! The words go right into my soul! Wow!!!!
Blake, glad you finally reacted to W.A.S.P. as I've been a big fan of the band for over 30 years... although this is not the song I would have picked personally for you to first listen to, even though I like it. This particular track is off the band's 2015 album, Golgotha. If I were going to recommend a song for someone to get introduced to W.A.S.P. to, it would be off of 1989's The Headless Children or '92's The Crimson Idol. And I wouldn't classify W.A.S.P. as a Christian heavy metal band. They started off as a glam/shock-rock metal band in the '80s. Blackie Lawless "rediscovered" his Christianity when he found his faith again about 15-years ago from what he has said in interviews. He grew up a Christian but left "the Church" when he around 18-years of age because he was disenfranchised and jaded over the concept of religion. I think Blackie stated one time in an interview a few years back that he just happens to be a Christian who plays heavy metal music. Lawless is an incredible songwriter IMO, and his music is meant to make you think. Great reaction and glad you enjoyed the song.
Blackie was into the Occult, and was searching. He hated God, and so went on a journey... Some of the old W. A. S. P. songs were pretty dark. I'm glad he came back to Jesus. God holds true, that He will never leave us, nor forsake us.... I'm living proof of this too. I hated God at the age of 14, and proceeded into Satanism. I got most anything I wanted too. So at one point in my life, I either overdosed or had a very very horrific dream. I was in Hell, and I could hear horrific screams of people. The worst screams I've ever heard. The smell was horrific, I'm not going to list everything I smelled, I'll just tell you that you would most likely be throwing up, constantly. Though I did not throw up. The fear was a fear I never experienced. It was dark, but there were flames all around. It was like a cavern of some sort. It was the worst feeling of depression and anxiety. I want to no longer exist. And I knew that wasn't going to happen. I knew exactly where I was, and I knew there was no return, noway out. Stalactites came out of the ground, just moving around was painful. There would be no way to even sit, or lay down. I am definitely in Hell, and that was it... There's no turning around. No escape. It was so hot and so cold at the same time. Like frostbite pain, and heatstroke pain. I knew this was just the beginning too. I petrified. I don't even want to take a step anywhere. Also, I was so extremely thirsty. Then I heard this laugh, and then this voice berating me and calling me all kinds of names, and telling me that he fooled me, and now I am this... A few other things too. Next thing I know there's the hand behind me pulling me backwards and out of this place, and I hear that voice that said it fooled me, yelling out, "He's mine...." It was Jesus that came and took me out of Hell. He knew why I was angry, and why I had turned from Him and God. I reconciled with God, and Christ Jesus, and served Him. The first two years were not so easy though. God was going to have me work this stuff out. He didn't make it easy. I had to find off the temptation of practicing, and doing incantations. I thoroughly enjoyed doing incantations. I was addicted to it. But now I knew for a fact what that would do to me. It also was a way of bringing me into studying the Word of God. I'm so glad too. There's no way, absolutely no way, I would ever get back into those things. God has worked in me and through me, and I will have eternal life when my time is up here. Time is becoming so short now, God is not going to put up with these things that are happening more and more. Either way if it's 100 years away, a 1000 years away or tomorrow, I know where I'll be, and that's in Heaven. Satan lost the battle. He and a third of the angels we're kicked out of Heaven. Angels had freewill just as we have freewill. Satan is going to bring as many as he can with him. Hell is unfathomable... I'm seeing more and more people who were into the Occult, coming to Jesus. If you're into Satanism or the Occult, however you want to put it, God loves you, and wants to set you free. Don't believe the lies of Satan. He doesn't care about you. He will definitely keep you deceived and in the dark😳🙂 The occult is very Powerful, and seeing the things I saw was definitely amazing. Here on earth, even if we deny God, we are still in the presence of God, when you are out of His presence it is the worst feeling ever. You can be delivered from Satanism. I know this, because I was, and there are also many more who were too. I know of that point to where you're made to believe that you cannot turn to God, because you did something blasphemous.... But you can turn, and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. www.peacewithgod.net
IMHO Golgotha is almost their best album, but I always keep coming back to Electric Circus. But all their albums are great, except maybe the first two and KFD.
Thank you so much for being so honest and open minded. I myself am a Christian but I do respect your choice and do not believe in judging at all. Thank for not making fun of it.
Major respect for reviewing something that runs counter to your beliefs and yet, not being critical of it. You were able to see the artistry in the entire presentation, music, and imagery and find the positive. Your talk about human helping human was much appreciated in how you noted this was universal no matter what our belief systems are. Please, ignore the goofballs in Christianity and realize many of us are here to carry out the purpose of walking like Christ and helping where we can. I have many friends who are agnostic, atheist, Muslim, and every other religion you can think of including every branch of Christianity and I always try and respect their belief system. We all hurt, we all suffer and we all need to be the best example of a human with love in their heart can be.
This song is definitely powerful, his voice is truly incredible. Gave me goosebumps first time i heard it. God can change anyone if we reach up and ask for help. It is our freewill, its like an instrument, how you play it is up to you. Always best to play from the heart. I'm happy you enjoy the song. I really love the band stryper yahweh is a touching song too. I heard of the song golgotha wasp through similiar songs from stryper very similar sounds the background music is really enjoyable.
For anyone willing to listen, there is a common rhythm, chord structure, and vocal cadence to WASP since the Headless Children album. Part of it may be a style of writing, but part of in may be a search for the song that ties it all together.
I cannot even explain how I feel about being here....... no hate or antything at all, just humans.......being. curious, curiouser nd curiouser....... hehehe. no coniption here,.... actually laughter in an interesting way.... joy actually. Intense song... but why am i here? right now, right here, this song..... which means a lot me as well.... dude.. this is an interesting night.

Am gonna listen to your review now... just had a pull to type, maybe just lonely, maybe confused a smidge, but............ think ok. Will listen now and continue until this particular end. I studied a lot of stuff in my teens to thirties..... and gotta say, still confused about how the Satanism thing changed over the past 40 yrs. Am not eloquent right now.... but close i figure.... I know what is in me.... doesnt make me not want to discuss things of course, studied some a long time ago amongst others, but still confused about . this. Ya know? Feels, very strange to my mind and heart...... also know a lot of the young don't seem to understand either, and treat like a club, as do young christians.... but without opposites, we cannot understand... curious if you would like a dialoge of whatevr the hecks..... hehehe someday. Anyways.. for some reason i am here. and wanted to talk, I would like to understand your perspective, and compare with my own metal and experiencial notes. Feeling old, and wanting to figure out as much as I can, and in my head when studying demonology and hierarchies above and below, and all that, 'kkow you enemy' stuff, and yeah... we all get pushed and pulled like toffee everywhere..... I yearn to understand where people are, because ....... after everything........ neighbours, ya know? So..... hey... wanna chat sometime somehow and discuss stuff? ponder? Explore? I got this vibe....right now, making me babble for ome reason. Anyway, door open over here for talk if ya like. my days and nights are bass ackwards.... spirituallly, am all over the place in pain and trying to recognize patterns of my own causes/effects..... bah.... talking yer ear off, and just put all my blades away movin into new place anyways, if ya figure.... might be interesting, at least to e..... hahah AND THATS ALL THAT MATTERSS S\ hehehehehe. am curious about all aaround me. but if not.... i will finally right now finish this vid. His voice is so epicly haunting. I think he was talking to through this brother. We can agree to disagree like Tom Araya, alice cooper, and Blackie lawless. Thanks for the awesome review and God bless you brother! Keep rockin!
Glad you enjoyed that. As a Christian I can say I could hang with you! Blackie Lawless has a very distinct wailing quality to his voice which matches very well with that guitar tone. Blackie was the worst of the worst so to speak from the 80s and hated everything about God and even other bands around him.. apparently even including Marilyn Manson. He decided to "duke it out" with God for years to prove him wrong, and did a ton of studying to do so. Then one day it occurred to him that he was not angry with God but he was angry with men and how they have manipulated and hurt him and others. That's when he saw the Living Word of God and changed. This was about four or five years ago. If you like this song you probably like a very recent song from Stryper called Yahweh. It would be great to see your reaction to that... I hope you're blessed abundantly!
Bruh I can't say more, I love how you put your opinion down on this. My parents are Christians but I do not consider myself a Christian, but the first time I listened to this song, it made me very emotionaI. I agree with what you said, although I am not a Satanist nor an Atheist, I think what you said is so true. If everyone in this world have the same morals and insights that you have, the world would be a better place! You just articulately put down everything which is going on in my mind which I can't explain any better than you... Cheers!
Honest review of a good song. I got that Blackie was singing as through the eyes of the thief that was crucified with Jesus. The one who in the end said remember me, then Jesus told him that today he would be in paradise with him.
Loved your reaction.WASP are really underrated. Headless children and Crimson idol are masterpieces. You should react to : The Idol, Heretic, Chainsaw Charlie, Headless Children,.... They 're also from a period without any annoying religious background.
Headless Children is a Masterpiece, I listened to it before my Salvation, now his testimony makes total sense and comes to a totality for the great Commission in his personal life.
The whole album is phenomenal! If you were this in awe over this track you'd probably appreciate some of the other tracks as well! While watching, I found it hard to believe you're a Satanist cuz that stuff sounds messed up, but you seem like a legitimately decent human being with a good heart and good morals, and I applaud you for that and for the respect you have for those who believe differently from you. Well done!
Excellent reaction i am a born again Christian as well and I just want to say I really enjoyed your reaction and I agree with you no one should be judgmental towards each other. I will be watching more of your reactions.
Blake you gave your honest opinion and I respect you for it as you may or not know blackie practiced the black arts in his beginning and changed his life and I wish you the best in life prayers to ya !
I've heard a lot of WASP songs. None give me chills... this one does. Isn't that odd that we share that reaction In life, some of us come full circle and some of us just lose our way. The song is written from the view of the thief on the cross who was crucified beside Christ. He found his direction in the last moments of life. "Lord have mercy upon me, a sinner"
Just hearing “Jesus I need you now...” that lone, as sung by a man who has come from where he has been, that alone should give you chills. Not saying you believe in Satan, I don’t know how your satanism goes, but I am sure that Lucifer rages when he hears this from Blackie Lawless.
I'm Christian but I didn't feel guilty for watching this video at all! I mean... usually when i see something satanic I feel ashamed but this time i felt happy because you looked at this masterpiece and didn't critisize it just because it's Christian. You showed respect and even approved it. So I respect you as well. You must be a very strange Satanist by the way! Anyway I hope you find God and may He bless you...I know that I might sound really boring but hey, that's the best thing a Christian can say to non-Christian with warm feelings! From now I join the notification squad and I'll stay turned for updates.
That you think he must be a strange Satanist shows how few you know. Believe it or not they're not evil devil worshippers (apart from anything, you can't worship something you don't believe exists), they are mostly decent, caring people of a relatively humanistic viewpoint.
Glad i found your channel... Just earned a sub... Genuine unbiased reactions are great... I dont adhere to the message either but the musicality and the emotion, i think we can all agree that any band or singer that comes across with sincere emotion and heart and can elicit a feeling good or bad in the audience is a good thing... As i said i dont adhere to the message i just for me at least equate it to someone struggling in life and in the throes of depression and on rock bottom searching for something anything whether it be a person, a ideal, or within themselves to help pull them out.. Again props to you sir... Much love ...
He is from the 80's and was the complete opposite. He was a "Wild Child" I loved him then as a occultist/satanist and now that I am a Christian I love him now. I find that my favorite bands are the good old oldies classic/thrash metal that are now Christians. p.s. you pronounced "Golgotha" wrong. It's ok though. Thank you for the good word on his voice. I love Blackie Lawless. He's getting old like the best of them, but he still has his voice.
GOD BLESS YOU. JESUS LOVES YOU+++!!! * on your worst shitty days, REMEMBER this song, k+++ * the chills you got at the beginning? THATS THE HOLY SPIRIT confronting you. Have a Blessed God-filled day and God Bless you+++
@3:45 "don't know why but something gave me chills..." That's the feeling of the Holy Spirit, brother. There's a reason you were called to listen to that. Because Blackie's voice IS powerful, even more so now that he has renewed his faith and love in Christ. It's apparent you're young and have no idea who the hell WASP is, but yeah, they are icons. They were one of the bands I listened to when I first got into heavy metal as a kid in the 80s, and although I stopped listening to a lot of heavy metal over the last couple of decades, I have been getting it back into it over the last couple of years, and I have been rediscovering my love of WASP, and was shaken to the core when I discovered this song last night. As someone who also grew up in the church like Blackie, I also walked away from that at a young age, and spent thirty years of my life dabbling in the occult and all of the ways the world until becoming born again recently. So imagine not only my surprise, but my utmost joy and most profound well of emotions when I heard Blackie Lawless singing those words in praise of Jesus. Of all people, I never would have imagined. I can imagine it would be something like what your friends might experience when you decide to accept Christ for yourself and bear witness in such a way. Like I said, there's a reason you watched this video. It at least planted a seed, as I'm doing here, and we can only pray that one day those seed takes root in your heart and you decide to ask Christ inside for yourself. Jesus is the only way. Trust us... We've gone down all those other ways, and they'll keep you running in circles your whole life if you let them. God bless you, brother. ♥️🙏♥️
I suggest Ningen Isu - Heartless Scat. Similar concept in terms of looking for guidance and salvation from the divinity, based on either Buddhism or Japanese Mythology not sure which, maybe both? Official Video has subtitles and lyrics pinned in the comments.
Listening to your reaction of this song was rather refreshing. I was waiting for the moment when you absolutely began to tear down the fundamental ideology behind Christianity ... and it never came. Your maturity is an exemplification of the type of morality necessary right now in a country gone down to the depths of hell (forgive the analogy). I am a believer of Christ, though not your typical church-going type. I have very powerful reasons for my belief, based on factual experience and personal relationship. Having said that; the religion that Christianity has become is something I do not care to identify with. A shit load of fakes and frauds preaching happy happy joy joy to an unwitting mass of addicts is not the intention of the Christ of Jah. What impressed me (besides the unrelenting fact that I, for the very life of me, cannot understand why it is that I think I know you, personally, from the past) about your review was your willingness to stand resolute in the Truth of the moment; something I had believed was anti-antichrist; so thank you for showing me another place where indoctrination had cast shadows on my willingness to see POV. I'll tell you this much ... without trying to preach .... I believe the chills you felt in the beginning of the song were of the same nature as mine were. I attribute that to the Holy Spirit. I sensed you struggled to actually hold it together and not shed a tear as the song played. I'll admit this: I wept when I heard this song the second time ... snot on the carpet and all that good shit; like a purging! There is a Truth to the Christ, and my journey is still revealing to me details of what is and what is not. I play heavy metal guitar and my lyrics are oddly dark for a believer of the Christ. Then again; His story was a dark one. Through the darkness was light revealed; not in place of darkness. That goes straight to the Creation story, which science basically confirms: resonant pitch frequency is the formation of light. Sound creates. God "said" .... let there be light. I've housed demons in my temple. I know darkness. I think that's why this song moved me in the manner it did. Blackie was into the Luciferian magic, and I had no idea, until recently; that he'd come to his faith. I heard this song accidentally, and it is now my "go-to" gospel tune. IF you're interested in other Christian bands worthy of a listen; try Tourniquet. They will not disappoint. You may like Disciple's music, but find their message a bit struggling, given your devotion to the dark one. Also; Deliverance and Eternal Decision (Hunger) are worth a listen. Pleasure to hear your take, Blake X. Have a very Merry commercialized pagan reformation day!
Wasp is not a Christian band, their first songs were F**K Like a Beast, Harder Faster, Sex Drill, Ball Crusher, On your Knees and others. They used to throw raw meat at the audience in the beginning. Their later albums contains other inspirations, including religious.
i think u are mixing a cupple of albums, the headless children is from 1989 the chrimson idol is a consept album from 1992 the hedless idol i have never heard about :D
Another wise words Blake X Mr Satanist Sir! I love this song... just like you said, I don't have to agree with it 100% to appreciate the raw emotions and mindblowing artistic expression we have here. I wish you all the best Brother \m/ ...and this solo at the end, fuckin' out of this world!
Satan I need you now, Satan I need you now, strike down these fools who mock you with their words, only you and I know the truth that comes from power chords.....Satan I need you now, show me your love , whisper to me in the dead of night, when mortals sleep the dead arise, and the voices in my head come to life and I know you are with me and I'm not dead, Satan I need you now. when I die don't weep for me, when I'm long gone just play this song and pray for me, because Satan,,,,, I need you now.
wasp was one of the original bands that had the visuals of black metal and shock rock before it became a genre. And Wasp originally stood for We Are Sexual Perverts and their big single was "Animal fuck like a Beast" but the singer became a born again christian
I'm neither Christian...... Or Satanic, 100% Atheist here, however I agree with the comment of raw power & emotions, it's beautiful both musically & vocally, I love the power in them alone
I love how you articulate yourself, I've been a saved metal head for a long time sir, great review, I will be praying for you to come home with us brother, your to cool and obviously intelligent, I like you brother, keep up the great work
Blackie has a most unique voice, I am loving that you are liking it....... truly...... this kinda rocked my world in sorrow and joy all at once........ ya know? And was a huge WASP fan before and still.......... this is a fun reaction, hopefully a future discussion.
Blackie lawless converted to christianity they were secular in the 80s and 90s and early to mid 2000s they were the reason you seen the parental advisory stickers on albums in the 80s they were very secular in 2009 they released their first christian album called Babylon just like I said blackie converted to christianity at this time.
WASP don't do the regular, commercial songs... They tell stories from an intimate point of view, with an amazing sound. Blackie gives them soul with his voice, in a way that not many others can... Each album is a story, and we always end up identifying ourselves with some of them. There's a bit for everyone, and they always sound like themselves. As you're asking for songs concerning other religions, you can also check Manowar... They're not a religious band, but they also have a storytelling background, and many albums tell whole stories and focus on Norse mythology and vikings...
Check out the album Last Temptation from Alice Cooper. Its a 90s album where he puts a bit of his beliefs into his music. He's a born again Christian but never preaches to people. He caught a lot of flak from Christians and non-Christians alike and it didn't sell well despite being one of his more creative ventures in a long time.
W.A.S.P. were the kind of band that the "Christian" Moral Majority wanted to ban in the 80s. Their most notorious hit song was "Animal (F*ck Like A Beast)". I only recently found out about Blackie Lawless' change of heart. I never realized what a good voice he has either.
Intelligent and articulate response. The.Wasp back catalogue is full of musical gems and Lawless evolved as person over the years and the material is worth looking at.
If you'd like a comparison of where Blackie Lawless and crew began; check out their self-titled debut, and try the song: Sleeping In the Fire... basically, the counter-culture to this song, Golgotha.
WASP stood for we are sexual perverts and Blackie Lawless was a preacher's kid. W.A.S.P. is an American heavy metal band formed in 1982 by Blackie Lawless, who is the last remaining original member of the band. They emerged from the early 1980s Los Angeles heavy metal scene. The band's popularity peaked that decade, yet they continue to record and tour, making them one of the most enduring of the West Coast heavy metal bands. W.A.S.P. gained notoriety for their shock rock-themed image, lyrics and live performances. They have sold over 12 million albums. W.A.S.P. was a prominent target in the mid-1980s of the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC), an organization that pushed for warning labels on recorded music. The band immortalized its fight with the PMRC on the song "Harder, Faster" from their 1987 live album, Live...In the Raw. Some of their most notable songs are "Animal (Fuck Like a Beast)," "I Wanna Be Somebody," "L.O.V.E. Machine," "Wild Child," "Blind in Texas," "Forever Free," "Mean Man," "Chainsaw Charlie (Murders in the New Morgue)" and "The Idol," as well as their cover versions of Ray Charles' "I Don't Need No Doctor" and The Who's "The Real Me." The band's most recent album, Golgotha, was released in 2015. There has been much speculation over the origin of the band's name, and whether it actually stands for anything, since it is written as an acronym. One possible interpretation is "White Anglo-Saxon Protestants," being the original meaning of the acronym. The song "Show No Mercy," the B-side of the band's first single "Animal," contains the repeated lyric, "White Anglo-Saxon / A violent reaction." The original U.S. release of the band's debut album W.A.S.P. had the words "We Are Sexual Perverts" inscribed on both sides around the label in the center, while "Winged Assassins" is inscribed on the spine of the first vinyl pressing. When asked about the band's name Lawless has avoided giving a straight answer: in one interview he answered, "We Ain't Sure, Pal."[7] In another, broadcast on the radio program Metal Shop, Lawless said that if one didn't know what it meant (implying White Anglo-Saxon Protestant), "It's a bug." In a February 2010 interview, Lawless stated the main reason for the name was the periods. He claimed no band had ever used them before (although R.E.M. formed two years earlier) and, in essence, the periods created a "question mark of uncertainty" to make W.A.S.P. stand out more. He then went on to say, "Look where we are: it did!"[8
The song is about Dismas (penitent thief) who was crucified next to Jesus as was Gestas (impenitent thief). The "Bad Thief" taunted Jesus saying "if you are the Messiah why don't you save yourself and us as well," while the "Good Thief" asked if he was truly the messiah would "you remember my name and give your forgiveness". My Grandfather was a Baptist Minister but I'm not a devout Christian by any means!
Appreciate your honesty and I would suggest it's no Coincidence you came to see it I'll pray it reaches your soul , many a rocker finds christ through music Dave Mustaine Etc...
Also, his son Jesus bore all of sins so that we wouldn’t have to suffer eternal separation from God. His blood paid the price for you sir! Thanks for your honesty!
WASP use to stand for : we are sick perverts in the 80s , I seen them in the 80s “the headless children tour “ he sounds the same today just an incredibly powerful voice and was pretty evil back then. You would love their old stuff check em out.Forever free is one my favorites along with I miss you .
The only thing is , I respect the fact that a satanist respects a Christian song , which leads me to believe that if a Satanist TRULY believes in satan as the being that he is ... then why would he not believe in everything that biblically follows as the true living Word, that there is only one way to the God of heaven and eternal life. If you believe in satan than you must believe in Christ Jesus, therefore why choose a darkness that will leave you facing eternal death in a lake of Fire neverending, wouldn't the alternative be a better decision. The only thing that an atheist is not willing to fully understand or want to understand is the concept of faith in a final absolute that involves obedience that comes from an ultimate source to help you not hurt you, a way to save you from destruction. God says to choose a side, and there is no middle ground, there is only a temporary amount of time to choose to be in deceptive darkness or enlightenment within this Spiritual War, and nothing else matters.
the hippies of the 60s rejected Bob Dylan after he turned to Christ---they thought they could ruin his career....they miserably failed---America's Folk Singer he is known as....Blackie's tunes always came from a dark place (death of the love of his life) and his music/albums depict his struggle within....when he turned to Christ--christ brought forth the last bit of light left and IT SHINES NOW !!!!
As a believer in Christ and metalhead I appreciate your respectful attitude and love for this song. Much love.
Yiu got goosebumps because your soul recognized what your mind refuses
Don't say that,I heo gopsrvims
Stop preaching. That's one reason nobody likes Christians. He's respecting your beliefs even though he doesn't agree with you, the least you can do is not criticize him on his own page.
Only love fills the void of human existence. God is love.
Thank you Blackie. Only learned today of your Christianity.
WASP was one of the most underrated bands of rock, let alone the 80’s..
At a place called Golgotha (meaning "The Skull" in Hebrew), Jesus was crucified between two criminals, one on the right and one on the left. And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they are doing.”
Amid the crowd that stood by, watching, the chief priests ridiculed and sneered at Him, saying, “He saved others from death; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed) of God, His Chosen One.”
Roman soldiers, who cast lots and divided His clothes among themselves, also mocked Jesus. They cruelly offered Him sour wine, and sarcastically said, “If you are really the King of the Jews, save Yourself!”
One of the criminals who had been hanged on a cross beside Jesus kept hurling abuse at Him, saying, “Are You not the Christ? Save Yourself and us from death!” But the other one rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? We are suffering justly, because we are getting what we deserve for what we have done; but this Man has done nothing wrong.”
And he said, “JESUS, PLEASE REMEMBER ME when You come into Your kingdom!” Jesus said to him, “Truly, I assure you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” (Meaning the Third Heaven, the "Garden" between death and the Resurrection.) [Paraphrase of Luke's account of the crucifixion, 23:32-43]
In "Golgotha," Blackie Lawless sings from the point of view of the "righteous" condemned man, confronting his mortality and asking Jesus if he is beyond all hope.
(This metaphor also appears in Mushroomhead's stealthily Christian "Sun Doesn't Rise" video th-cam.com/video/U601GTVIJcw/w-d-xo.html )
“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart,
lest they should see with their eyes and perceive with their heart,
and turn for Me to heal them.” -- John 12:40
Also, in the video we see Jesus being flogged by a skeletal Priest. The imagery strongly suggests that it is the Church, as an institution, which has perverted the message of Christ's ministry, the meaning of his sacrifice, and the free gift of God's grace.
Beautifully said. Amen. Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords.
I was going to explain it but then I saw your post. You did such a good job! Being a Christian, this song had me in tears when I first heard it.
Im a Christian and just found your channel. You seems to be an honest person. Even if we havent the same point of view. I love this song of different reasons. Blackie have a very special voice. It carry so much emotions. Thank you for a good reaction :)
Every knee will bow and every tongue shall confess..we all
Its amazing how they have gone from Fu%k like a beast to Jesus I need you now
Człowiek nie krowa, zmienia swoje poglądy na życie.
Yeah it’s pretty ridiculous if you ask me
Praise God!
I thank God that Blackie shows more of his true nature now, in his songs,
Now, you would need to perform this psychological analysis on most of politicians and Holywood actors.
Bob Miller just like you a fan from the 80’s and I don’t think this song represents WASP in its essence.
The name of Jesus gave you the chills. There’s no name above the name of Jesus my friend
Amen
This song always puts a lump in my throat .even if you don't believe in Jesus knowing the suffering he went through.
Pretty sure this is the only channel I've seen where a Satanist reacts to Christian music. Something different for sure. Keep up the good work.
Did you really think we only listen to the same boring "Kill God Satan rules" type of music? Naw fam. We like what we like without guilt.
Blacky lawless wasn't always christian
I have been a fan of wasp since 1984 and words can’t describe this highly emotional song it’s bound to be his best work ever I’m speechless .....
I agree. Ive also been a fan since the early 80s. I almost weep when I hear this song.
For anyone willing to listen, there is a common rhythm, chord structure, and vocal cadence to WASP since the Headless Children album. Part of it may be a style of writing, but part of in may be a search for the song that ties it all together.
You need Jesus for real.
I really expected you to hate this song, but you went into it with an open mind. Good job.
Christian music "usually" leaves me Cold" Except this One!!!!
In the 80s wasp probely stood for warriors and Santa’s puppets lol
Santa!
Listen to Stryper “To Hell With The Devil” is a Christian Hair Metal Band
They "converted" to power metal. Still Christians
Thank you bro, for your honestly reaction, and as well, is very good to see a true metal 80's reacting. You gain a new fan from Brasil.
Dude....... for some reason I am here, and see you. Was just thinking of WASP, and others at that time.... going through all kinda mental shit now... and here I am. I needed this tune this mornng... for some reason.. I am Christian, remembering y youth, and remembered this one was pretty powerful for me. All music is powerful for who needs. I haven't even started your vid yet... just had an impulse to start this comment. Blackie has such an amazzzing voice... and this one got me when I think I needed it. Am gonna listen to your review now... just had a pull to type, maybe just lonely, maybe confused a smidge, but............ think ok. Will listen now and continue until this particular end. I must say before this happens, I studied a lot of stuff in my teens and before but that was half century ago, trying to figure out what surrounds .... ya know? I dunno whats upp right now.......... I think (forgive me, am opposite mind and heart from what I presume here..... not sure.. but will listen, ach you know what i mean.... hold on. Anyway, door open over here for talk if ya like. my days and nights are bass ackwards.... spirituallly, am all over the place in pain and trying to recognize patterns of my own causes/effects..... bah.... talking yer ear off, and just put all my blades away movin into new place anyways, if ya figure.... might be interesting, at least to e..... hahah AND THATS ALL THAT MATTERSS
S\ hehehehehe. am curious about all aaround me. but if not.... i will finally right now finish this vid.
Merry ..................lenngthening oof days, and happy and productive........well shit, you know now I am being a little carefully arcastic, but that is my own pre whateversssss.......Gonna finish this, and listen to GWAR horro of yig after, cause they make me laugh.... RIP Oderous Urungous. Laters. I still don't know why am here..... perhaps..... well Himmelkreuatzdonnervetternacheinmal we shall see where this goes.Feels like some kinda reason.... hehehe.

His voice is so epicly haunting. I think he was talking to through this brother. We can agree to disagree like Tom Araya, alice cooper, and Blackie lawless. Thanks for the awesome review and God bless you brother! Keep rockin!
A warning. This song is very sticky. You may find yourself singing this song in front of other Satanists.
the Bible is very metal. Especially Revelation.
Death metal mostly.
It's the lord tugging at your heart
Their music is spine tingling live n this is probably my favourite track of theirs, my favourite band live.
WASP - Wild child
WASP - The Idol
WASP - Babylon is burning
Loved your reaction.WASP are really underrated. Headless children and Crimson idol are masterpieces. You should react to : The Idol, Heretic, Chainsaw Charlie, Headless Children,.... They 're also from a period without any annoying religious background.
Headless Children is a Masterpiece, I listened to it before my Salvation, now his testimony makes total sense and comes to a totality for the great Commission in his personal life.
But ALWAYS keep Spiritual Warfare in mind. Look it up.
You are right...masterpieces...so under estimated ones
The whole album is phenomenal! If you were this in awe over this track you'd probably appreciate some of the other tracks as well! While watching, I found it hard to believe you're a Satanist cuz that stuff sounds messed up, but you seem like a legitimately decent human being with a good heart and good morals, and I applaud you for that and for the respect you have for those who believe differently from you. Well done!
Поверь многие христиане гораздо хуже сатанистов
Excellent reaction i am a born again Christian as well and I just want to say I really enjoyed your reaction and I agree with you no one should be judgmental towards each other. I will be watching more of your reactions.
Blake you gave your honest opinion and I respect you for it as you may or not know blackie practiced the black arts in his beginning and changed his life and I wish you the best in life prayers to ya !
One of my favorite songs, thank you brother God bless.
I've heard a lot of WASP songs. None give me chills... this one does. Isn't that odd that we share that reaction
In life, some of us come full circle and some of us just lose our way. The song is written from the view of the thief on the cross who was crucified beside Christ. He found his direction in the last moments of life.
"Lord have mercy upon me, a sinner"
Mighty is the name of Jesus
Just hearing “Jesus I need you now...” that lone, as sung by a man who has come from where he has been, that alone should give you chills. Not saying you believe in Satan, I don’t know how your satanism goes, but I am sure that Lucifer rages when he hears this from Blackie Lawless.
Oh yea satan is piss right now.. But who care about him.. Blackie gave his life to Lord and all I can say is Amen to that
Thank you very much for your honesty and sincerity.
@@WKDPOWERTake King Diamond For Example, Under All That Makeup…..He’s Just A Real Down To Earth Guy
Not really a Christian band like "Striper" for example, but nice reaction. Sleeping in the fire song should clear up the confusion.
Does Metallicas Creeping Death make them Christian? Nope. Its just a good song.
Thanks so much for the support and the sub!
Have a Blessed God-filled day and God Bless you+++
@3:45 "don't know why but something gave me chills..."
That's the feeling of the Holy Spirit, brother.
I'll add it to the list!
God bless you Blake,respect🤘😎🤘🇦🇷
Wasp is not a Christian band, their first songs were F**K Like a Beast, Harder Faster, Sex Drill, Ball Crusher, On your Knees and others. They used to throw raw meat at the audience in the beginning. Their later albums contains other inspirations, including religious.
I know this is old but great job Nuclear staying in the middle of the road, a great song is a great song. A+++ Subscribed Brother
WASP...well blackie is Christian now, but the headless idol is brilliant from 1989 or so. Also KFD is a brilliant album, and very non Christian Haha.
i think u are mixing a cupple of albums, the headless children is from 1989 the chrimson idol is a consept album from 1992 the hedless idol i have never heard about :D
Another wise words Blake X Mr Satanist Sir! I love this song... just like you said, I don't have to agree with it 100% to appreciate the raw emotions and mindblowing artistic expression we have here. I wish you all the best Brother \m/
...and this solo at the end, fuckin' out of this world!
Right back at you, my friend! \m/ Definitely adding this one to my playlist for when I want songs with guitar solos.
IF YOU DONT REJECT THE MESSAGE YOU ACCEPT IT
The only reaction channel owner that reacted on this epic solo
FINALLY....
Some of my favorite guitar solos are :
Mercyful Fate - GYPSY
W.A.S.P. - SLEEPING IN THE FIRE
W.A.S.P. - THE TORTURE NEVER STOPS
My favorite wasp album is their 1984 debut. They make good fun party music and also good serious deep music.
I'm neither Christian...... Or Satanic, 100% Atheist here, however I agree with the comment of raw power & emotions, it's beautiful both musically & vocally, I love the power in them alone
I Literally don't Think Anyone Could of Explain This but You Brother-JS-Thank You!
You are almost there.
Try saviour machine there not really metal but amazing and Christian. But very powerful and deep......and well creepy as hell.
This guy is a really good speaker ....I know pointing out the obvious but gotta mention it
Blackie lawless turned a new leaf from wasp we are sexual perverts 80s to lord loving
A thumbs up from your response from this Christian.
Blackie Lawless, yep. Wild Child. Wasp was Shock Rock, or shock metal.
Living Sacrifice
Tourniquet
Project 86
Soul Embrace
Demon Hunter
Listen to these Christian Bands Hard Core, Metal, and more 👍🤘
W.A.S.P. were the kind of band that the "Christian" Moral Majority wanted to ban in the 80s. Their most notorious hit song was "Animal (F*ck Like A Beast)". I only recently found out about Blackie Lawless' change of heart. I never realized what a good voice he has either.
W. A. S. P. was shock rock in the 80s. Their lead singer (Blackie Lawless). became reborn later.
I also got the chills hearing blackie's voice
The song "Show No Mercy," the B-side of the band's first single "Animal," contains the repeated lyric, "White Anglo-Saxon / A violent reaction."
The original U.S. release of the band's debut album W.A.S.P. had the words "We Are Sexual Perverts" inscribed on both sides around the label in the center, while "Winged Assassins" is inscribed on the spine of the first vinyl pressing. When asked about the band's name Lawless has avoided giving a straight answer: in one interview he answered, "We Ain't Sure, Pal."[7] In another, broadcast on the radio program Metal Shop, Lawless said that if one didn't know what it meant (implying White Anglo-Saxon Protestant), "It's a bug."
In a February 2010 interview, Lawless stated the main reason for the name was the periods. He claimed no band had ever used them before (although R.E.M. formed two years earlier) and, in essence, the periods created a "question mark of uncertainty" to make W.A.S.P. stand out more. He then went on to say, "Look where we are: it did!"[8
19:21 ''we're all still human beings'', I like that. Great review also.
My friend is quiet the opposite type: hardcore christian and an ultra fan of blackest satanic and pagan metal. That works too.
Please you must do Wasp, UnhoLy Terror Charisma. You will love it.
Jesus I need you now
Your taco truck's across town
Ooh, I miss that chipolte
And fajitas every day
Jesus I need you now...
"What all the (W.A.S.P.) buzz was about", lol... Sorry, bad joke I know XD
Who can forget his "buzz" saw? lol
WASP - ChARISMA amazing strong song, hope u will react to it
Appreciate your honesty and I would suggest it's no Coincidence you came to see it I'll pray it reaches your soul , many a rocker finds christ through music Dave Mustaine Etc...
Its written from the perspective of the good thief who was crucified by christ
God bless
I appreciate your reaction to this song, very unbiased and to the point. This comment is coming from a guy who is a believer in Christ our Lord.
"We Are Sexual Perverts," as etched into the dead wax on their first record.
W.A.S.P. is plain and simply a good band.
If you think wasp is Christan metal please don't go though they discography that would be a rude awakening
I was going to recommend Animal..Fuck Like a Beast. Classic W.A.S.P..
It's fantastic. That's all that matters.
I appreciate your love for the vocals, guitar and 80s. I love you
The only thing is , I respect the fact that a satanist respects a Christian song , which leads me to believe that if a Satanist TRULY believes in satan as the being that he is ... then why would he not believe in everything that biblically follows as the true living Word, that there is only one way to the God of heaven and eternal life.
They started out satanic as fuck but Blackie came to their Lord in later years. One album was called k.f.d. (kill fuck die).
