As someone who has worked in the industry for over 30 years I am deeply ashamed to say I had never even heard of Handel's Parnasso - till I heard it for the first time in a live broadcast from Antwerp yesterday. What an extraordinarily inspired and magnificent composition. Then I heard Max doing Serie lunga right here and that was it for me. I am now determined to get this work out there to a wider and wider public - it expresses Handel's fluency and genius in a way and with a panache I hadn't experienced in his other operatic or oratorio works. PHENOMENAL. AWESOME
He makes wonderful music, and I can't recall hearing fioriture so elegant and rhythmic coming from a countertenor. His vocal color is so natural, as well- what I imagined, at least in the upper range, a castrato must have sounded like.
Wow, thanks Max. As usual a great accuracy and wonderful rendition. You are a pleasure to listen to and for countertenors (like me) a great example. Hope to be able to hear you live one day. Until then, have a wonderful and healthy life and great carreer!
@alexmacias I'm not homosexual, but I absolutely love Cencic ( and many other countertenors). This world would certainly be a poorer place whithout artists like that. Baroque opera is surely one of western cultures most magnificent treasures. But it's under attack now.
@achantus1 Woa, woa! Calm your horses! I'm not being intolerant, I just didn't understand why your sexual orientation (or lack of it) mattered, it doesn't, so it's not worth mentioning. It's like saying "I don't like blue, but this is such a great singer". You see what I mean? Your first comment had no relation to your second comment whatsoever. That was it!
Also a bit of "Vivi tiranno" Yes Händel borrowed partially and sometimes totally music from his other compositions to his new compositions. But many composers did the same like Rossini.
@alexmacias I guess I'm just a little bit jumpy because my lack of sexual interest has caused me a bit of embarrasment over the years. But I love Cencic ,Yaroussky, Zazzo and many other counter-tenors. My favorite is perhaps the legendary Paul Esswood.
@alexmacias Sexual orientation don't mean anything, of course. I suppose I'm just curious, bescause I'm asexual myself. Yes, that's right, I have no sexual preferances or desires. Guess that means I 'm a freak. Who's the intolerant now? Greetings from a Norwegian.
Quelle extraordinaire performance !
Que voz mas sublime

This album arrived in the post yesterday. I chose this aria as the first track to listen to - I am NOT disappointed :D
Yes that is exactly what I find about him! Thank you for putting it so well.

I can hear Venti turbini and even a little bit of come nembe.

@alexmacias Yes, I can see that now. Sorry!

And, btw, I don't think asexual people are freaks.
@achantus1I don't see the need to clarify your sexual orientation.

this is about the singer, whatever his sexual orientation, not you.
