WA deserves it and will make the rest of Oz mad. They’re an AFL state, they’ve showed up, it’s a great stadium, and the WA govt and people have worked so hard to keep covid down. Unlike NSW, which is a diabolical mess (currently 900 cases a day even in 8th week of lockdown), and has caused mess to NZ and VIC. Perth will have 100% crowd capacity.

Exactly. I thought thats why they scrapped the pre finals bye. So they get everything done while they can, and then use the bye only if it was required. They'd look rather stupid if the 18th was fine in WA, and then the 24th they have an outbreak in the community and have to lockdown with no fans for the GF.

We we we oh poor we (Victoria) Can we please have WA and SA's top media personalities as well. Not ex Vic footy players all the time so up themselves (Not Nick here tho). Cometti and McAveney along with Morphett and Roberts better commentators than we have now by far - something not Victorian is a glamourous improvement.

Every other state is gonna hate if the GF ends up in WA. Fingers crossed 🤞 we don’t get cases and can host GF. It’s most likely gonna return to the MCG next year with everyone vaccinated so this could be our last chance!
WA grand final at Optus with Port and Brisbane as finalists. Which would eliminate AFL from Victoria and be the first truly ethical AFL game leaving the vics as just spectators. What a win for freedom that would be and a finger up to the them.
I still maintain, the AFL are using this to get fans used to a) a permenant night grand final, which could be permenant as of now and b) a yearly interstate GF. Even if it takes 30 years.
Agreed but very unlikely, the AFL (which is really just the VFL who whore themselves out to the Victorian Government constantly) should follow the NFL practice of rotating the grand final every year. Imagine having the Grand Final rotate between Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth Sydney and Brisbane every 5 years, what an amazing national event it would be instead of the stale MCG every which exists only to disadvantage interstate teams.

Night grandfinal sucked arses last year absolutely the worst, if it happens again obviously the AFL didn't listen to their fans. I can't remember too many that enjoyed it from memory
The MCG is the holy grail however if the victorian government want to keep up there nonsense then why not go to Perth the game is a part of of freedoms and it should go ahead where ever possible
Quite the opposite of nonsense. When there's covid in perth I love the snap lockdowns. Up until this point it has benefitted our state greatly. Very pleased Victoria is doing the right thing. Hopefully we do the GF justice (if) so that it can return to Victoria in the coming years on a high note
Unless it’s purely logistical from a COVID perspective, it’s a joke that you would have the Grand Final at a soulless, corporate remake of the MCG rather than at the Adelaide Oval given its history, beauty and world class maintenance.

Clearly never have attended the atmosphere at Optus, and if you have I'm very confused. Beautiful ground and walking there before and after the game next to the river and the fans is awesome. Been at the ground is amazing itself. To call it soulless really lacks any understanding, it is a truly beautiful stadium
Maybe your government should have thought more about crowd capacity, as this has a lot to do with the decision. Plus Optus is the newest stadium in the country!

Apart from the MCG, Optus stadium is the next best venue. There's no question it should be held there (Coming from a Victorian)
