What's your guys best tip for bidding a commercial site? PS, what are you guys bidding your mowing, mulch, and cleanup prices at? Feel free to leave any helpful tips down below!
Brian what is your take on government accounts? Federal buildings, school contracts. That’s what I want to do. Everyone targets like yourself the warehouses and places like that. I have been looking at government contracts or gov con for short for a few years. The common stigma is too much paperwork and other such excuses. Check it out. Hit me back on your feedback would you? Thx. Good luck this year.
Can't believe how much content you are able to put out! just saw your Instagram stories a little while ago and you already edited and posted an entire video and doing it right before a snowstorm. Awesome to see how much you are doing, but take some time for yourself to relax and spend with the family!
Thanks Alex! Yeah I honestly told my self if I don’t get this video out tonight, it ain’t coming out til later next week lol. We’ll see how the snow storm goes, 3-6”!
Brian, thanks for all the insight you offer. I have been in lawn care for about 7 years solo and I am still figuring this all out. Seeing where I have made mistakes and really shortchanged myself out of some money I could have made had I known alot of this beforehand. Thanks again for a quality channel!!!!
Good job Bryan. You are confirming my pricing. We do 90 percent commercial sites. 4-15 acres per site. We typically charge $100 acre. Any additional work requested is @$50 per man hour. By the way. Thanks for the advice we got the linxup tracker. Blessings from Athens tx. Cleancut lawn care
The ditches are called swales. They are for directing water runoff to drains or just away from the building. That’s why they’re usually filled with water.
To answer your question about flowers. With everything going on you need to adjust. Call your local greenhouses. I work at one here in North Dakota and hear about the fluctuation on prices.
Great job Brian. I hope people see that you are growing and grinding and the podcast and life you live just is not talk. Love the hustle it’s motivational! Good luck on the bids! Make this the best year yet!!!
Here in naples FL we always get a property appraisal b4 we start talking price and see which hedges belongs to who. Any hedges or bushes below 6ft we include it with the weekly service anything above 6ft that we need a ladder thatll be extra. Extra: mulch, flowers, landscape ext… Im not sure if you guys need licenses for anything but in Florida we need a license for trimming above 6ft, fertilizer, weed killer, tree trimming, landscaping, irrigation ect.
These kind of vids are very helpful. I now see how much i have been ripping my self off. Its been a struggle to just break even. I was on edge of shutting every by next season.
Great video. I ALWAYS do a walk through on any property whether commercial or residential before an estimate goes out. Always meeting the person responsible for paying you is important right?!
Facts! Once you come up with a price always get confirmation on who’s paying!! People alwAys tell us to trim this, cut that remove this, and if your not the one paying the bill then i wont do the work unless i get the green light from the one paying every month.
Sr, this information is gold!!. Thank you so much for sharing this with us I really appreciate it. I will like to get the contract temple, let mw know how I can get it.
Hey Brian, what are you looking at for raising prices for the upcoming season? Gas is up, oil for all equipment, and raises for the new year. We are looking at raising prices 10% for lawns to compensate the rise in fuel costs. And about $5-7 per hour per man for labor cost.
Love the video you should always visit a property for the first initial quote and take a notes and videos. I just double the price of the flowers and add 10%. Seems to always work
Great video Brian, I definitely picked up a couple new commercial clients not in as bad shape as yours, but that’s why we are here is to make ugly stuff look awesome!
Never have did commercial work before but I did have a commercial site contact me about biding for lawn care. Didn’t get call back but I see it as a win because of the experience and opportunity.
Just added new commercial property to my accounts. I try to price it high enough for me. They actually emailed me back to tell me to bid higher and I would still get it. I did, and I did.
Hey man im sam from Oakland county i been watching your videos u been motivating me to start my own business i do concrete for someone else , :( i would also like to do that on my own and start to plow of course i need to get my equipment ready , goodjob my brother all your videos are helpfull thankyou
Is there such thing as residential customers doing seasonal lawn care contracts? Like pays for the season up front with spring and fall cleanups included.
Brian, On the first property call our friend Stanley. He will re grade that ditch and put in a drainage system for you. lol Tree work can be good money. Just learn how to climb aa tree. You will have fun. Our friend Keith offers a tree climbing class. Stanley is the only student that he has ever had. lol (see the video) I am not ready for spring yet. I got so much going on I have to make myself sit down and get my letters out. With the amount of leaves that you have to deal with I would think your rates should be 3-4 times the usual price. Also, nice hat!!! I have a hat just like that that I wear all the time.
On the top part of that contract, where it has blanks for the contact, email etc.. Do you fill that out or do you let the company fill it out when you submit the bid? Thanks for all the info!
sorry to say we were getting 80.00 per acre 25 years ago...there's no money in real money in weekly residential mowing...just too much competition and yahoos mowing lawns for $15...all inclusive commercial property contracts are the only way to go where YOU do all the scheduling of services. Everything we buy as landscape maintenance co. has doubled in the last 25 years, why hasn't the revenue doubled for the same work? Most "owners" in the business don't understand the concept of "Depreciation" all trucks/trailers and equipment depreciate fast and you must recover that loss somehow. The "cost of doing business" and your "margins" must be known factors.
Have to wonder if the last guy did a poor job or did the company not want to pay for the extra work? I've taken on jobs that after the first month realized why the last guy wasn't still doing the work.
Always! That's the first tip when accepting a new client, pry in and ask what happened to the last guy. These sites have paid on time since we've picked them up, so I'm happy with continuing the partnership. Great call though.
@@BriansLawnMaintenance brian I have seen the vedoes of when you went with Keith when he did the quote on the job he did 4 years ago I would love to see you both working on that big project together bring Mike and Brandon the 4 horse men of landscaping
