I did this in 80s and 90s....used to paint a lot of model aircraft with 2 and 3 tone
Vietnam Era camouflage colors....it worked a lot better than using masking tape. You did a super job with this masking...plane looks great.

Thank you! I recently did some pinstripe painting on my car and realized this masking tape would work for models too!

@@StyreneModelersHaven kinda cool when you are doing one project and the light bulb turns on right???
But the only problem I had back then was the adhesive was not as good as it is today,
And every once in awhile it would take some of the paint when I peeled it off....
But the 3M pin striping tape I use today has zero issues....but your vids are a great help to modelers of all ages, and me building kits at 71 years, I still get good ideas watching them....take care and
      Thanks for the reply.

Another great video. 2 Questions. Would painting putty have worked also or is that for soft edge camo? Also, you mentioned a clear coat helping to keep the paint from peeling up when you peeled the tap up. Did I hear that correctly? If so please tell me more .

Correct about putty masking. It leaves a soft edge. Even if you flatten it, it will still not be as crisp as tape. I find that a coat of clear over thin fragile paints helps protect the paint from de masking. A good primer is needed under the paint first.

I do the same thing. Paint the base color. Lay my tape, then spray clear over it. Can't bleed under because you've sealed the edge with the clear.
