  • This is the PCB design of the chronograph that will be used to time the bullet as it exits the crown of the barrel. The timing information is crucial to in determining the position of the bullet at any point in time as the bullet travels through the barrel. This information will help understand how the point of impact at 50 yards is impacted by barrel whiplash.

Outstanding work! The improvements in sensitivity are promising. Will the 3D-printed mounting mechanism be created for an ARCA rail or some other attachment point?

It will mount onto the existing rail with the Arca vise. Not sure if I will change it completely yet.

Estimated build time from the PCB vendor is 24 to 26 days. It will be fully assembled except for three parts.

Very nice. Love the design. I’m not understanding the harmonics tester. I’m not understanding how you are reading the information. Or how you interpret the numbers into tuning the harmonics. You are above my head lol😂. Can you give a short explanation in child’s terms ❤?

Sure....The barrel has a few sensors to monitor the whiplash and vibration. So, with this chronograph, I can measure the exact time the bullet exits the crown of the barrel and with the sensors, I can measure the exact position of the barrel during the whiplashing. The goal is to control the position of the barrel by adding weights so the point of impact at 50 yards will be consistent.

@TunerPlinker have you considered exit debris? Will wax (lubricant) debris affect the inductive sensor?

Wax will not affect the inductive sensor.

@@TunerPlinker yes. Thank you. I know what you are doing. I have many tuners. I can’t figure out what you see on the screen that you are reading. I would love a device like you are building. And would want one. But I don’t know how to read the results you are getting and apply that to the tuner. Just need to know how to use it. Lol

@jwoodshed1108 By the time I am done with all the sensors, I will make the grand finale video where I will incorporate all the sensors and show you how the data is used to calibrate the barrel with a tuner. It will take about a month when I get my chronograph sensor PCB from the vendor. Initially, I will use my oscilloscope to measure my sensors but eventually I will incorporate a microcontroller where it will do all the calculations and you won't need to know how to read the data.....very exciting things that will change how people will tune the barrel.
