Of course there's a _lot_ of similarity too, but like "if you put just their faces and no other detail on a page you can tell them apart." She gets a bunch of extra detail in her face and shading!

Tbh, that's mostly because of the black hair. If you draw Boa as a blonde, for example, it loses a lot of the immediate resemblance people feel. That's because anime drawing style is generally quite simple with facial details: eyes, eyebrowns, nose, mouth. Outside of extras like scars, there isn't much in an anime face. So we usually tell characters apart better from other features like their their shapes and their color scheme.

Probably the western convention to name the given name first and the the family name last - while in Japan and therefore in OP it is vice versa. It leads especially to confusion when both given name and family name could go as a given name - just like Nico Robin.

Luffy was peeping on Nami and Vivi actually, and Oda even had to address it by saying he was just following Usopp's example and reaction, so you're right it was more of a group thing, Luffy just wanted to be a part of things, he wasn't actually interested in seeing Nami or Vivi naked. Also the introduction is just funny joke about the concept of "saving the cat". The technique of quick introduction of a character values that the famous screenwriting book is named after. If you want to introduce a good character, you show them saving a cat. If you want to introduce an evil character, you show them kicking a kitten. Of course this is an exaggerated example made to portray the concept, in actual writing you'd likely be a bit more subtle than this, but Oda just straight up used it as is because it's funny.
Boa doesn't look a bit like Robin, literally different skin color pre time skip, different eyes, different hair color (Robin has blue shades) and different CD. All they have in common is the artstyle, no shit.
Amazon Lily is entirely dependent on the government for safety. There are powerful enough pirates that can reach them, even in the calm belt. They have legendary status, which attracts pirates, often with not the best intentions. So the government serves as a deterrent in that regard. But beyond that, the government also has the ability to annihilate them and they can't just leave their island, as it's the cornerstone of their culture. As for the navy being reliant on the Warlords, disobeying the government and becoming a regular pirate would definitely cause them issues, because the navy is still far more powerful than they are, individually. These are strong enough incentives for both the warlords and their crews to obey the government, at the very least so that they can avoid trouble. That said, they're not all gonna be as "obedient" as Kuma 😅
They aren't 'entirely dependent' on the government. As far as we know Boa is the first Kuja Empress to be a Warlord. The only ones they would have to fear are Yonko and the Government themselves. No more or less than any other big name pirate.

But somewhat recently, navy ships managed to circumvent it by masking their ships using sea prism stone (thanks to a certain someone, primarily). The same could be applied to strong pirates (not necessarily yonko) who have resources and are able to replicate the technique and if they start pouring in in droves they won't be able to hold em back. That's what makes them dependent. They're not like the other warlords or the yonko who can just leave and make a base elsewhere.

If it would have just been the Marines, they would have lost. They already had by the time BB interfered. I don't know how you could possibly think that Big Mom could just 'set up a new base' when she effectively controlled several nations worth of land and people. Same for Kaido, or even Shanks who clearly uses his power and status to protect weaker people in his territory. Even discounting Yonko, people like Dof/Croc would have had lost much more than just a 'base'. And most powerful pirates don't have a base of operations aside from their ship. It's no different from the Kuja Pirates at all. If it was that easy for the marines to 'pour in in droves' why do pirates exist at all? The Marines being able to traverse the calm belt just puts them (the Kuja pirates) on par with anyone else, it doesn't suddenly force them to rely on the WG as their ONLY option.

Why does everyone call Hancock "Boa"? Boa is the family name and Hancock is the given name.
There are reasons. For english speakers. First it is easier to say. Does not want to mention "c*ck" and get it out of context of others. 😂
Probably the western convention to name the given name first and the the family name last - while in Japan and therefore in OP it is vice versa.
It leads especially to confusion when both given name and family name could go as a given name - just like Nico Robin.

Luffy was peeping on Nami and Vivi actually, and Oda even had to address it by saying he was just following Usopp's example and reaction, so you're right it was more of a group thing, Luffy just wanted to be a part of things, he wasn't actually interested in seeing Nami or Vivi naked.
Also the introduction is just funny joke about the concept of "saving the cat". The technique of quick introduction of a character values that the famous screenwriting book is named after. If you want to introduce a good character, you show them saving a cat. If you want to introduce an evil character, you show them kicking a kitten. Of course this is an exaggerated example made to portray the concept, in actual writing you'd likely be a bit more subtle than this, but Oda just straight up used it as is because it's funny.

Amazon Lily is entirely dependent on the government for safety. There are powerful enough pirates that can reach them, even in the calm belt. They have legendary status, which attracts pirates, often with not the best intentions. So the government serves as a deterrent in that regard. But beyond that, the government also has the ability to annihilate them and they can't just leave their island, as it's the cornerstone of their culture.
As for the navy being reliant on the Warlords, disobeying the government and becoming a regular pirate would definitely cause them issues, because the navy is still far more powerful than they are, individually. These are strong enough incentives for both the warlords and their crews to obey the government, at the very least so that they can avoid trouble.
That said, they're not all gonna be as "obedient" as Kuma 😅
They aren't 'entirely dependent' on the government. As far as we know Boa is the first Kuja Empress to be a Warlord. The only ones they would have to fear are Yonko and the Government themselves. No more or less than any other big name pirate.
@@zr5941 Gloriosa says it herself, they used to rely on the fact that traversing the Calm Belt was almost impossible due to the sea kings. But somewhat recently, navy ships managed to circumvent it by masking their ships using sea prism stone (thanks to a certain someone, primarily). The same could be applied to strong pirates (not necessarily yonko) who have resources and are able to replicate the technique and if they start pouring in in droves they won't be able to hold em back. That's what makes them dependent. They're not like the other warlords or the yonko who can just leave and make a base elsewhere.

Nearly every pirate crew and nation exists outside the calm belt. The Kuja pirates are no more or less dependent or threatened by the WG than anyone else. The only reason things went sideways for her when they sent marines was because of BB, one of the top 5 players, if not powerhouses, in the verse. If it would have just been the Marines, they would have lost. They already had by the time BB interfered.
I don't know how you could possibly think that Big Mom could just 'set up a new base' when she effectively controlled several nations worth of land and people. Same for Kaido, or even Shanks who clearly uses his power and status to protect weaker people in his territory.
Even discounting Yonko, people like Dof/Croc would have had lost much more than just a 'base'. And most powerful pirates don't have a base of operations aside from their ship. It's no different from the Kuja Pirates at all.
If it was that easy for the marines to 'pour in in droves' why do pirates exist at all?
The Marines being able to traverse the calm belt just puts them (the Kuja pirates) on par with anyone else, it doesn't suddenly force them to rely on the WG as their ONLY option.

Your argument falls apart when you realize that the Kuja are not Yonko level. They can and were overrun. Sure, it was Blackbeard, but include a good enough number of nobodies making there way there every year and you would have a very beleaguered island.
Besides that, there is an even bigger reason why they were dependent on the Government. The navy now had ways to easily reach them in the Calm Belt and if they refused to cooperate, they would be annihilated. It's precisely because the WG had their sights on them that they were in such trouble. The Navy went after them IMMEDIATELY after the dissolution of the Warlords. That was just Koby, but imagine what would happen later? How long until a WG flag would be flying over the island?
That's what makes them precisely NOT like everyone else. They have a massive target on their backs and they're tied to their island.
Any other "pirate group" would not be as interesting to the government and they could simply relocate. The Kuja cannot. You claim that theyre the same as any warlord or yonko, but Big Mom could leave Totto Land just fine. Crocodile HAD to leave Alabasta and has travelled all across the New World. If the Kuja leave Maiden Island, they cease to exist as a people.
Also, if the WG is "not their only option" then who? Luffy is not a yonko here.
