In case you didn't know you can tab in the main town and look at the different unlock-able characters and it does tell you how to unlock them. Lian's specifically is to successfully parry 10 times, which you'll just naturally do while you use the skill (which is actually kind of decent for tank units blocking for the squishes). Just because i wanted to try him out, Silverstein was also used for my first win against the final boss since i had both parry and bear trap, i just had him on lock down due to counter traps the entire fight lol.
Also the thing with secret rooms is that they arent always available on every map, it can be on any corner i think that is touch by 4 or more tiles and if you use a map scroll, it will tell you where they are.

Congrats on beating TFK on expert first try! I think a lot of people struggle a bit more with this game because they don't take their time and don't bother reading everything.
Really glad that you're enjoying the story. I'm pretty sure the story's pacing assumes you're reading the records as they unlock them though, so you're missing context if you haven't read them yet. I think a good 50% of the game's story is told through the records. It's all cutscenes, so probably not great as video content, but I do recommend you read through them on your own when you find the time!
Also for reference I've got about 300hrs in the game and my runs take around 1h 30m to 2hrs. But I'm also generally a slow player, haha.

Yeah, I have 120 hours in this game and am also a rather slow player. This combined with the shitty laptop im playing this at, I take roughly 2.15 hours for my runs.
The records are all very well made and let you really deepen your understanding for the story. Found myself looking at the records for 30 min -1 hour after each run in the beginning. Keep grinding!
10:30 Scrolls in expert mode are always unknown except 1 type of scroll. Once you know all the types, only 2 types are actual matters, they are the one that can remove hidden wall. If you know the map generation rules (or you can a map via scroll), you can try scrolls near the possible locations of hidden chest.
Great video! I'm happy that the story is interesting you. You did pretty darn good against the Forgotten King despite not knowing his mechanics and now you'll know it's important to have a splash of AoE and Ignore taunt skills. It's unfortunate that runs take so long but I really like the design philosophy of experiencing something first and learning from it for future runs. It makes sense since story-wise Lucy is repeatedly failing and making mistakes since she literally doesn't know what to expect. Since the runs are long this unfortunately makes it feel pretty punishing to lose to something you needed to prepare for (such as an invincible taunt checking for Ignore Taunt and AoE skills).
Really hope you keep going! You have lots to look forward to in terms of gameplay and story
Overheal isn't a common keyword, but it's very powerful. Overheal bypasses the healing gauge and restores missing health directly. Let's say you have 10/30 hp, with 5 healing gauge. A regular heal 10 will restore the gauge and get an extra ~2hp, leaving you at 17/30 with no gauge. In the same scenario, an overheal 10 will leave you at 20/30hp but still with 5 healing gauge.
Pressel's First Class To Heaven is a mediocre overheal (1~2 most of the time), but it lets you heal up a bit as you end the fight - on top of the healing gauge - and sustain is always appreciated.
PS: that Pressel rare skill gives you a free (0 cost swiftness) overheal each turn that can only be used that turn, pls use them before ending turn (even if it's just for healing gauge, free heal is free)

34:31 Tracking is expert mode only keyword. In normal mode, tracking is applied to all skills.

I personally enjoy long runs, including dialogues, story etc. I dunno about the YT algo side tho.
The 98% accuracy cap is applied after all other hit chance calculations, if I'm not mistaken. There is one secret tile per area excluding Stage 1-1, CW (You haven't unlocked this area yet), Sanctuary. The swiftness scroll increases your party's speed by one, not Lucy's overworld map move speed. I can't remember if it's only for the current stage or next battle.
You can check the unlock conditions for a character you haven't unlocked yet from the party select menu when starting a run if you didn't already know that.

To be honest that expert run you just did was better than my last expert run where I beat The Forgotten King by the skin of my teeth. When I killed him my main DPS, Helia(I don't how she didn't die when Selena did), was at death's door at -16 HP with everyone else dead. And I've been playing the game for 82 hours... I think I might be bad at the game. That run took iirc 1 hour and 50 minutes.

Do I have to watch the records to follow the main story? Cause atm I don’t have much time outside of just playing since the runs are so long.
I’ll consider it if I can just binge watch them after I’m done with the main story. Since the separate video wouldn’t end up doing well.
@@krowzLite Yeah, pretty much you need to watch the record for the story. The game play cutscene is only the "solution" to the story's problem. You won't know who other characters are, who Phoenix is, or even why the whole thing happened in the first place.
It's like this run , you didn't know who "Clyne" was, it was supposed to be a plot twist moment when you realize who is the "Forgotten King".
In my playthrough, I play a run, then check the record, piecing the story together, then play again to know more. They are pretty deliberate as which Record they gave the player, in which order you can watch them etc....
You can cut the run up? and include the record at the beginning , or at the end?
When I played it was kinda jarring stopping my thirst for gameplay for story moments. But at the end, it was the only way you can experience the story without feeling like getting spoiled by the gameplay ending cutscene.

3:37:36 I think because you turn on quick mode. You are skipped to boss directly instead of being able to talk to your teammates.
Only halfway through the video so maybe you figured it out later: if a relic is "unrecoverable", it just means you can't remove it from the relic stand after placing it (you can't "recover" it). It's found on relics that provide a one-time effect when placed (increase stats, get skills or resources...) to prevent them from breaking the game. They're a strong power spike, but you lose a precious relic slot.
I think the parry’s are ways for your tanks to absorbs attacks if I was reading ir correctly. Seems like you put it in countdown and if someone other when who cast it would be attack it gets switched to the caster for 35% less damage and it can’t be true damage so you can heal if all.
Don't feel too pressured to do the entire run in one sitting since it's indeed so long, there are save points at the start of each stage if you get gassed out

Runs keeps getting longer and longer lol. I don't mind it too much but maybe when you start being more familiar with mechanics you can speed things up dramatically. I average 40 min runs these days but the story bits sure do take a long time to get to and there's a lot of them.
It will be faster once the information overload settles. Story takes time too and I have to read all the skills/mechanics from characters I don’t know about. Runs are going way too long atm.
