  • This is one of our first videos produced to teach practitioners the gold standard method of casting for custom fabricated foot orthotics.
This negative slipper casting process is for fabricating L3000 foot inserts that are removable and molded to the patient's positive model.
The foot inserts are, removable, molded to patient model. “UCB” Type, Berkeley Shell, usually designed as a Plastic device or carbon fiber device, molded over model of patient’s foot to provide control of the foot.
This process is used for prescription foot orthoses made of rigid or semi-rigid materials for the purpose of controlling the foot by improving foot function. This can include UCBL devices, modified UCB devices and all rigid or semi-rigid foot orthoses made from a model of the of the patient’s foot. This process allows the device to include additions such as rearfoot or forefoot posting, padded top covers, soft tissue supplements, balance padding, lesion or structure accommodations and any other additions that may be required to treat the patient.

Love this. I’m not a Pedorthist. I work in a comfort shoe store. I would love to learn how to do this. Is there a possible way to learn? I work full time. Is it advisable to not work full time, in order to become a Pedorthist?
    Best,

I need a set of casted molds like you have done. Medicare won't pay for it. I'm in San Diego. I lost one of my orthotics that's was made at NewGen in Memphis. But they want new castings done. Can any one out there help me ? My podiatrist wanted to charge me 800$. He was zero help from Scripps Chula Vista, Dr. Longobardi. Ugh. Does anyone have any ideas ? Hangar Clinic won't help to cast me unless I have the orthotics made at that clinic. Can't, too $$$$.
