A funny thing, Chanyeol is a big fan of cbx but he always says around them that he is the C in cbx. In Korean they call the subunit ChenBaekXi but Chanyeol always call them ChanBaekXi (but he is too tall for it) 😅 If you watch EXO Ladder season 2, he got group with Baekhyun and Xiumin while Chen was in the other team, and is so funny how Chen gets annoyed about it. 😂
Even recently, when Chen was doing his Polaris album tour. Chanyeol, Baekhyun and Xiumin attended and Chanyeol introduced himself as the 'C' in CBX! 🤣And it's so hilarious how Chen is always ready to fight Chanyeol for his position!

These three are so good together. Baekhyun is very proud to be the tallest of the group (by a centimetre), but they do claim it was all about the height. I love that we get more of Xiumin in this unit, he is such a good all rounder and he gets to be the leader. All three vocals are insanely good and they are already comfortable with each other, so it is just pluses all around.

God I love CBX. Their 2nd album (2018) and title track Blooming Days + Dance Practice is 💯 Xiumin just gave a spoiler yesterday that there will be a new CBX album next year!!! He will also have his 2nd solo album next year. Baekhyun will also have 4th solo album next year. Suho also said expect a new Exo album. And a 3rd Suho album. Chanyeol also said expect his first solo album. Omg 2024 cannot fucking wait. D.O. is booked and busy with so many acting gigs, not sure about another solo album. Sad thing about 2024 is Sehun will be enlisting 😭 hope he gives us at least a single before going 😭
CBX is not necessarily the vocal group but well both chen n baekhyun is main vocal and xiumin is sub vocalist so you can consider it as a vocal group too... And no it wasn’t lie,cbx debuted in 2016 and it happened because this three usually went to same gym trainer and that guy suggested "you three match really well maybe you can form a unit" and that's how this idea came to them...at that time,d.o. was busy with acting career alongside with exo's group activity... But chen baekhyun d.o. the main vocal line sang some songs as a sort of unofficial trio/unit even from beforehand...in 2013,they sang miracles in December,My turn to cry,in 2014 they sang December's tale..also covered "almost paradise"... You can check those out to get the taste of CBD along with CBX...

Once the three went to the company and mentioned wanting to make the group, it was floated around possibly naming them after the member's powers, which would've made them EXO-LIT: Light.Ice.Thunder. But, I think, they decided against it for various reasons, mostly pronunciation (a lot of Asian fans don't even call them CBX; they call them ChenBaekXi). You can see hints of it in CBX's original debut tease, but it specifically in the concert VCR version of it; when the video, called The One, was uploaded to YT they changed it. In the concert version it gives each of the CBX members a nickname around their power: Baekhyun = Black Light Xiumin = Mad Ice & Chen = Thunder Boy and called them collectively "Reservoir Idols". The boys will usually (though not everytime) have 9 people onstage for performances when it’s their solo or sub-unit to represent the 9 members of EXO. Lay, Baekhyun, Xiumin and Kai seem to do this the most. And, Kai since Peaches have exclusively used 8 backup dancers for his performances to represent the other members.

For those who don't, most times as artists become senior they gain more freedom over what they can and can't do. Ofcourse there would also be idols who are now just too used to not participating or not being heard. In EXO alone there are different examples, Lay was always keen on producing music and actively pitched songs to management, Chanyeol used to write songs and with experience has now ventured into production, Chen has written multiple songs, Baekhyun outright said no when asked if he'll ever produce his own music because he feels there are specialists for everything and his speciality is singing not making music

You are right. CBX is the group with highest range. And to a surprise xiumin is an underrated member while he can hit a C sharp 6 note and that to with vibrato. There was a competition in their early career and xiumin and baekhyun hit C sharp6 while chen has the widest range. He can sing literally from the lowest part of throat. I came to know about it today and i was surprised to see how talented xiumin is.
Exo-CBX title songs are mostly funky and their mvs are usually really cheeky 😊 Sometimes if I feel a little down and want a quick boost of happiness, Exo-CBX songs usually my go-to solution..
You'll understand why Xiumin is the perfect choice to be added with CB instead of D.O. by watching their individual guides on Caesar Oh's channel. D.O. was anyways busy with acting career at that point. I'd really recommend to check out "Paper Cut" live performance by CBX and "The One".

DO had to many movie schedules during the time to be part of a subgroup. Suho was in a play and first solo album. Lay had gone back to China due to growing issues between 🇨🇳 and 🇰🇷, also Hallyu ban. Sehun and Chanyeol were doing their subgroup work.
To do this properly, you should go back to where it all started with the mv ‘The One.’ A vcr starring Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin was played at a concert while all of the boys were backstage changing (or whatever they do). Nobody knew it at the time but it was a spoiler for CBX’s debut. It’s hysterical. (btw, I think in South Korea they’re referred to as ‘Chen Beck Shee’)

Yes, as with everything EXO does, including their solo work and sub-units, the stories in their MVs are all connected to EXO's larger storyline. So, the story in EXO-CBX's "Hey Mama" MV is telling another piece of EXO's story. In "Hey Mama," the widely accepted theory is that the Red Force has infiltrated the news media and they are controlling humanity through the news that is being broadcast on TV. The members of CBX have gone undercover to try and stop the Red Force. You are right, one of the easiest, and most central, themes in all of EXO's MVs and everything they do, is the use of red. When you see the color red or red light this is used to symbolize something to do with the Red Force. But it doesn't always mean the members or people involved are the Red Force. In this case, it is showing how the Red Force is the ones that are in control of whatever is covered in red at that moment. For example, if you pay attention to how the people act when red colored objects are being used in the "Hey Mama" MV, you will see that they act like they are in a trance or being controlled by something. Therefore, because the paper the newscaster reads from is red and the drinks the people are drinking in the conference room are red, the Red Force is in control. If you notice, everyone, including CBX, is acting like robots or zombies -- as if they are in a trance -- when red is involved. The news reporters are reading the news that is printed on red papers with expressionless looks on their faces, and they are all acting like robots in the conference room while drinking the red liquid. You see CBX typing on the computers while staring into space because they are thought to be falling under the control of the Red Force. But as soon as Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin get rid of the red paper and the red drinks, etc. the people start to come to life and act more normal. (Notice the color of the drinks change when they aren't being controlled.) As you can see, not only is EXO's story based on fantasy and sci-fi concepts, but it is partially based on real societal issues and events and topics that SM wants to shine a light on. When you really think about it, a lot of EXO's story is a social commentary on the problems and issues that we as humans are dealing with in real life -- such as environmental issues, war, technology, media (LOL "fake news"), etc. Also pay attention to the use of flowers when it comes to EXO. In this MV you see Baekhyun dropping flower petals down on Chen and they collect bunches of flowers and you see them burning them in the fire, etc. Although we are not positive what the real effect flowers have in EXO's story yet, in "Hey Mama" it seems as though the flowers help to bring them out of the trance that the Red Force is trying to trap them in. You will see instances of EXO using flowers in all different ways across a majority of their MVs and it's all tied to their storyline. And, notice how it looks like they aren't in a present-day time period. Everything looks like its happening in an older era -- maybe around the 1980s or early '90s (the computers and TV cameras they are using are all older-style models) -- which means that this probably is showing how CBX has traveled back in time or is in an alternate reality, etc. They seem to be trying to change history and fix the problems that the Red Force has caused, which has led up to, or caused, the problems in our present reality. We also see Xiumin scribbling a circle on the paper as if he is mindlessly drawing something, which could be connected to the fact that we see Chen scribbling a similar circle on a piece of paper in EXO's "Universe" MV. As you can see, EXO-CBX is a sub-unit of EXO, made up of 3 of EXO's main/lead vocalists -- Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin -- hence the name CBX. (Xiumin has always been known as a lead rapper in EXO-M, so yes, CBX allows him to show off his rap skills. But Baekhyun -- and sometimes Chen -- also becomes a rapper when they are a member of CBX, which is different than what we normally get to hear from them as a member of EXO.) Yes, this sub-unit was created because at the time Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin were the only members who didn't have any side projects. They were all in the gym working out together discussing what they should do while everyone else was working on other things, and their trainer suggested they form a sub-unit. So, they took the idea to the company and SM agreed that they would make a good unit.
While the gym story is true but I think part of the reason they're the perfect subgroup is also being CBX have high range of high notes. I really hope you guys would react to "The One" by CBX.
Yeah, D.O. is not in the sub-unit but he wants to be! 😅 Xiumin revealed at one video (I think it's during EXO Ladder S1) that whenever CBX have activities, D.O. would tell them to take him with them. So the way CBX was formed is that their choreographer said the three of them should form a sub unit because they were all the same height. They talk about it in a Knowing Bros Episode. Lol, and they talked about it and then, bam, here you are. My top two fav MV's for CBX is Ka-Ching (the live is also amazing) and Horololo. Papercuts live is also great. What am I saying, they are all good. Oh and since we got a debut of each subunit are we also gonna see a reaction to SuperM....since Baek and Kai are in it? I know Solo's would be getting too deep in before completeing everything else, but I love you guys and your reactions. Just excited for the next already. Oh and Blooming Days is an excellant Song, but the dance practice is top notch. Congrats for catching some of the hints from their concept. Red is a signifying color for Red Force. But here's our job, does that mean that at this time in the storyline, these three have turned or are under some kind of control of Red Force, working under cover to ruin Red Force Plans? Baekhyun has enough back up dancers in his solo stuff to to equal what he's used to in EXO. I can't remember if Kai's is too. But they are used to bigger group to move about. OMG love rapping Xiumin and Baek. We get a couple like that in CBX. Horololo is another where i think all three get the opportunity to rap a bit. OMG Baek in that jean jacket and tousled hair....everything!!!! Honestly, love Xiumin's hair too. lol i find that funny, cuz Baek is so easy for me to pick out, mainly cuz he's my bias. Kai and Chanyeol are my wreckers. Not that they can't all wreck me at one point or another...Case in point, D.O in our current Cream Soda Era.

i think SM started doing sub-units since they have big groups. they try to divide them & start doing promotions in different countries simultaneously. & yes you're right about how cbx started. these 3 are the closest in the group (chen & xiumin were roomates before & chen & baek entered the company @ the same time) & they work out & hangout together. 1 of their trainers told them that they look good in a sub-unit since they're all in the same height. they proposed it to SM & they approved. they were thinking of a different sub-unit name relating to their powers but decided on cbx instead because they said the other one sounds like a curse word in korean.

Subunits are a mix of time fillers and a chance to branch in directions the main group won't probably. Subunits (and solos) really just crop up when a group isn't having a major comeback. They'll usually get things like songs or concepts that were passed on for the group as a whole. SM typically, won't invest a whole lot extra into it, but they also might be more willing to let members have input in aspects. Members do them because they wanna do something while the rest of the group might be busy with things like acting jobs or solos, and it's easier to get just a few members through the process versus 8-9 members. Also, like I mentioned elsewhere, maybe the members really liked the song but the company passed on it for a group comeback or the members want to try their hand at something they don't normally get to, like Baekhyun getting to rap~~~
i think the mic-ing interviews can be a good content too (tho i think only blooming days has one) or you can just watch them in your own time. Universe (the winter song) mic-ing is so hilarious XD so many Kyungsoo iconic moments XD

SM is notorious for being *very* selective, at least used to, about letting their artists work on music production, lyrics. or choreo. This could be one of or a combination of 2 reasons: 1. They don't wanna have to pay their artists more for music rights. 2. SM contracts major songwriters, producers, and choreographers; they wanna make sure they get their money's worth from them. SM will let their artists have more input and freedom with things like solos and subunits cause those were typically not the big money makers for their income, just things that kept them with a steady stream of income. But they'll make their artists prove themselves, like Chanyeol was given the subject for EXO's song Sweet Lies and told to write the lyrics around that. SM used to(?) have a whole weekend long song writing getaway for their artists. A lot of the producers and songwriters that SM hired and worked with EXO *really* enjoy working with them and crafting songs specifically for them. There's a video of some producers and songwriters that work in kpop talking about their experiences and many of them praised EXO, cause they really work to respect their work and convey the original creator's intention. I think I mentioned in another video's comments how close EXO are with their choreographers/dance teachers & backup dancers^.^ And even when people outside of EXO's main/most common choreographers are tapped do do something, their most frequent choreographers often became their dance teachers, and they would tweak things to fit EXO more. Like of these most common choreographers/dance teachers for EXO there's one that is specifically often used for EXO more upbeat or hip-hop stuff and then another that's used for more of EXO more lyrical & soft stuff. And they know each member's strength and weaknesses and how to work with those. I call CBX the "Underrated Dancers Group"~ Xiumin has always been a great dancer. I think one of EXO's earliest dance teachers shared that they thought Xiumin could've rivaled Kai if he had more confidence in himself in the beginning. Xiumin was just wasn't the type, especially back then, to want the attention a main dancer gets, and so for years he really pushed himself down. Baekhyun and Chen had some of the shortest trainee periods in kpop history, around half a year, and neither really had dance training before that. They are rumored to have some of the most intense trainee period, which included Sehun and Kai giving extra help with dance (Kai took charge of Chen and Sehun took charge of Baekhyun). Chen, particularly, struggled with dance for the early years, but around the time EXO did Call Me Baby Chen apparently started staying even later than Kai at dance practice. He worked until he was getting praise from all the members and the dance teachers/choreographers. Baekhyun was okay at dance, but didn't really get to do anything of note with it. It seems like him watching Chen improve so drastically really lit a fire under him. And by the time EXO did Monster, Baekhyun was starting to get dance solos and spotlight dance moments^.^
The height story is actually true. One day their gym coach jokingly said that they are about the same height and so why not form a subunit and sm did exactly that 😭 Just because they were of similar heights. At first, sm named them LIT and not CBX with their superpowers L - light, I - Ice and T - thunder but they finally decided CBX with their names instead 😂

You are right. CBX is the group with highest range. And to a surprise xiumin is an underrated member while he can hit a C sharp 6 note and that to with vibrato. There was a competition in their early career and xiumin and baekhyun hit C sharp6 while chen has the widest range. He can sing literally from the lowest part of throat. I came to know about it today and i was surprised to see how talented xiumin is.

DO had to many movie schedules during the time to be part of a subgroup. Suho was in a play and first solo album. Lay had gone back to China due to growing issues between 🇨🇳 and 🇰🇷, also Hallyu ban. Sehun and Chanyeol were doing their subgroup work.
To do this properly, you should go back to where it all started with the mv ‘The One.’ A vcr starring Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin was played at a concert while all of the boys were backstage changing (or whatever they do). Nobody knew it at the time but it was a spoiler for CBX’s debut. It’s hysterical. (btw, I think in South Korea they’re referred to as ‘Chen Beck Shee’)

Yes, as with everything EXO does, including their solo work and sub-units, the stories in their MVs are all connected to EXO's larger storyline. So, the story in EXO-CBX's "Hey Mama" MV is telling another piece of EXO's story.
In "Hey Mama," the widely accepted theory is that the Red Force has infiltrated the news media and they are controlling humanity through the news that is being broadcast on TV. The members of CBX have gone undercover to try and stop the Red Force.
You are right, one of the easiest, and most central, themes in all of EXO's MVs and everything they do, is the use of red. When you see the color red or red light this is used to symbolize something to do with the Red Force. But it doesn't always mean the members or people involved are the Red Force. In this case, it is showing how the Red Force is the ones that are in control of whatever is covered in red at that moment.
For example, if you pay attention to how the people act when red colored objects are being used in the "Hey Mama" MV, you will see that they act like they are in a trance or being controlled by something. Therefore, because the paper the newscaster reads from is red and the drinks the people are drinking in the conference room are red, the Red Force is in control. If you notice, everyone, including CBX, is acting like robots or zombies -- as if they are in a trance -- when red is involved. The news reporters are reading the news that is printed on red papers with expressionless looks on their faces, and they are all acting like robots in the conference room while drinking the red liquid. You see CBX typing on the computers while staring into space because they are thought to be falling under the control of the Red Force. But as soon as Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin get rid of the red paper and the red drinks, etc. the people start to come to life and act more normal. (Notice the color of the drinks change when they aren't being controlled.)
As you can see, not only is EXO's story based on fantasy and sci-fi concepts, but it is partially based on real societal issues and events and topics that SM wants to shine a light on. When you really think about it, a lot of EXO's story is a social commentary on the problems and issues that we as humans are dealing with in real life -- such as environmental issues, war, technology, media (LOL "fake news"), etc.
Also pay attention to the use of flowers when it comes to EXO. In this MV you see Baekhyun dropping flower petals down on Chen and they collect bunches of flowers and you see them burning them in the fire, etc. Although we are not positive what the real effect flowers have in EXO's story yet, in "Hey Mama" it seems as though the flowers help to bring them out of the trance that the Red Force is trying to trap them in. You will see instances of EXO using flowers in all different ways across a majority of their MVs and it's all tied to their storyline.
And, notice how it looks like they aren't in a present-day time period. Everything looks like its happening in an older era -- maybe around the 1980s or early '90s (the computers and TV cameras they are using are all older-style models) -- which means that this probably is showing how CBX has traveled back in time or is in an alternate reality, etc. They seem to be trying to change history and fix the problems that the Red Force has caused, which has led up to, or caused, the problems in our present reality.
We also see Xiumin scribbling a circle on the paper as if he is mindlessly drawing something, which could be connected to the fact that we see Chen scribbling a similar circle on a piece of paper in EXO's "Universe" MV.
As you can see, EXO-CBX is a sub-unit of EXO, made up of 3 of EXO's main/lead vocalists -- Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin -- hence the name CBX. (Xiumin has always been known as a lead rapper in EXO-M, so yes, CBX allows him to show off his rap skills. But Baekhyun -- and sometimes Chen -- also becomes a rapper when they are a member of CBX, which is different than what we normally get to hear from them as a member of EXO.)
Yes, this sub-unit was created because at the time Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin were the only members who didn't have any side projects. They were all in the gym working out together discussing what they should do while everyone else was working on other things, and their trainer suggested they form a sub-unit. So, they took the idea to the company and SM agreed that they would make a good unit.
While the gym story is true but I think part of the reason they're the perfect subgroup is also being CBX have high range of high notes. I really hope you guys would react to "The One" by CBX.
Yeah, D.O. is not in the sub-unit but he wants to be! 😅 Xiumin revealed at one video (I think it's during EXO Ladder S1) that whenever CBX have activities, D.O. would tell them to take him with them. Also, Kai, if I'm not mistaken. Baekhyun and Chen confirmed this.
And of course, Chanyeol always claiming the C in CBX resulting to Chen hitting him. 😅

So the way CBX was formed is that their choreographer said the three of them should form a sub unit because they were all the same height. They talk about it in a Knowing Bros Episode. Lol, and they talked about it and then, bam, here you are. My top two fav MV's for CBX is Ka-Ching (the live is also amazing) and Horololo. Papercuts live is also great. What am I saying, they are all good. Oh and since we got a debut of each subunit are we also gonna see a reaction to SuperM....since Baek and Kai are in it? I know Solo's would be getting too deep in before completeing everything else, but I love you guys and your reactions. Just excited for the next already. Oh and Blooming Days is an excellant Song, but the dance practice is top notch.
Congrats for catching some of the hints from their concept. Red is a signifying color for Red Force. But here's our job, does that mean that at this time in the storyline, these three have turned or are under some kind of control of Red Force, working under cover to ruin Red Force Plans? Baekhyun has enough back up dancers in his solo stuff to to equal what he's used to in EXO. I can't remember if Kai's is too. But they are used to bigger group to move about.
OMG love rapping Xiumin and Baek. We get a couple like that in CBX. Horololo is another where i think all three get the opportunity to rap a bit. OMG Baek in that jean jacket and tousled hair....everything!!!! Honestly, love Xiumin's hair too. lol i find that funny, cuz Baek is so easy for me to pick out, mainly cuz he's my bias. Kai and Chanyeol are my wreckers. Not that they can't all wreck me at one point or another...Case in point, D.O in our current Cream Soda Era.

But kidding aside, I feel like their units is based on their vibes. Like cbx songs maintain a certain dorky vibe. Cbx and sc's songs is totally different from EXO's songs.
i think SM started doing sub-units since they have big groups. they try to divide them & start doing promotions in different countries simultaneously. & yes you're right about how cbx started. these 3 are the closest in the group (chen & xiumin were roomates before & chen & baek entered the company @ the same time) & they work out & hangout together. 1 of their trainers told them that they look good in a sub-unit since they're all in the same height. they proposed it to SM & they approved. they were thinking of a different sub-unit name relating to their powers but decided on cbx instead because they said the other one sounds like a curse word in korean.

Subunits are a mix of time fillers and a chance to branch in directions the main group won't probably. Subunits (and solos) really just crop up when a group isn't having a major comeback. They'll usually get things like songs or concepts that were passed on for the group as a whole. SM typically, won't invest a whole lot extra into it, but they also might be more willing to let members have input in aspects. Members do them because they wanna do something while the rest of the group might be busy with things like acting jobs or solos, and it's easier to get just a few members through the process versus 8-9 members. Also, like I mentioned elsewhere, maybe the members really liked the song but the company passed on it for a group comeback or the members want to try their hand at something they don't normally get to, like Baekhyun getting to rap~~~

SM is notorious for being *very* selective, at least used to, about letting their artists work on music production, lyrics. or choreo. This could be one of or a combination of 2 reasons: 1. They don't wanna have to pay their artists more for music rights. 2. SM contracts major songwriters, producers, and choreographers; they wanna make sure they get their money's worth from them.
SM will let their artists have more input and freedom with things like solos and subunits cause those were typically not the big money makers for their income, just things that kept them with a steady stream of income. But they'll make their artists prove themselves, like Chanyeol was given the subject for EXO's song Sweet Lies and told to write the lyrics around that. SM used to(?) have a whole weekend long song writing getaway for their artists.
A lot of the producers and songwriters that SM hired and worked with EXO *really* enjoy working with them and crafting songs specifically for them. There's a video of some producers and songwriters that work in kpop talking about their experiences and many of them praised EXO, cause they really work to respect their work and convey the original creator's intention.
I think I mentioned in another video's comments how close EXO are with their choreographers/dance teachers & backup dancers^.^ And even when people outside of EXO's main/most common choreographers are tapped do do something, their most frequent choreographers often became their dance teachers, and they would tweak things to fit EXO more. Like of these most common choreographers/dance teachers for EXO there's one that is specifically often used for EXO more upbeat or hip-hop stuff and then another that's used for more of EXO more lyrical & soft stuff. And they know each member's strength and weaknesses and how to work with those.
I call CBX the "Underrated Dancers Group"~
Xiumin has always been a great dancer. I think one of EXO's earliest dance teachers shared that they thought Xiumin could've rivaled Kai if he had more confidence in himself in the beginning. Xiumin was just wasn't the type, especially back then, to want the attention a main dancer gets, and so for years he really pushed himself down.
Baekhyun and Chen had some of the shortest trainee periods in kpop history, around half a year, and neither really had dance training before that. They are rumored to have some of the most intense trainee period, which included Sehun and Kai giving extra help with dance (Kai took charge of Chen and Sehun took charge of Baekhyun).
Chen, particularly, struggled with dance for the early years, but around the time EXO did Call Me Baby Chen apparently started staying even later than Kai at dance practice. He worked until he was getting praise from all the members and the dance teachers/choreographers.
Baekhyun was okay at dance, but didn't really get to do anything of note with it. It seems like him watching Chen improve so drastically really lit a fire under him. And by the time EXO did Monster, Baekhyun was starting to get dance solos and spotlight dance moments^.^

One day their gym coach jokingly said that they are about the same height and so why not form a subunit and sm did exactly that 😭 Just because they were of similar heights. At first, sm named them LIT and not CBX with their superpowers L - light, I - Ice and T - thunder but they finally decided CBX with their names instead 😂

Cbx is not the vocal group. its bcs their vocal get along together in the harmony that what they said in a tv show their vocal coach said that their voice suit each other they should create a sub unit. ofc xuimin is in the vocal line with DO all of them are in vocal line but that was the reason.
