Cai's father died demonstrating unconditional love for his gay son. Which makes it even more heartbreaking because parents like him deserved the longest, happiest lives. But I feel there's a lesson here for straight parents (present & future). Straight parents are so enveloped in hetero normalcy that it never occurs to them that their children could have a different sexuality than them. If you are (or will be) a straight parent who loves & accepts their kids no matter their sexuality, make it clear to them early on. "I'll love you whether you like girls or boys". Don't wait until they've "come out" to you after having to suffer for years.

The actors are so amazing and the plot is well-thought. It's great how this single episode touched a lot of issues: dealing with loss, moving on, forgiving oneself, changing for the better, family acceptance, and most importantly acknowledgement that no one should force someone out of their closet for whatever reason. This is perfection! Looking forward for Gav and Cai to meet soon...

Absolute legend. First time to watch, everything is virtual but it makes us all chill on it. Plus the story is timely and relevant, the reason why we cry in every sorrow they feel, why? Because we feel it too.

The comments are full of well-deserved praise for Elijah, but I'd like to heap some praise on Kokoy too. His sincere smile never fails to brighten my day. But what really impresses me are his subtle transitions from smiling and joking around to concern, worry, sympathy or sadness. They're so subtle, genuine, believable, real. Imo this is what makes for good, really solid acting and hopefully should take this talented young actor far.
Agreed. Not to take anything away from Elijah, but his grieving role in this episode requires him to bawl his eyes out and does he do it well vs Kokoy's role which is suitably restrained and limited to showing sympathy and giving strength to Cai from afar. Kokoy's nuanced acting effectively balances out the melodrama in this episode.
Mother of the f*cking universe award goes to Cairo's Ma!! Love her. "You don't apologize for being who you are" Nailed it. That is how you do parenting right... Scratch that. That is how you be a decent human being!
AMEN! That is what I hope my future self will be able to teach my kids and ppl around me. She is the best example how to do things right. A great human being to look up to o/
I am so disappointed to myself for judging this series without even watching it and now, I'm crying because it hits differently. I can't pinpoint the exact emotion but it's a mixture of everything...sadness, envy, loneliness, doubtful....
Its because its real. I mean yes its fiction and yes its brilliant actors but, its real. We all feel what's going on, its so close to home, the feelings are real. Idk maybe I'm just an idiot.
this isn’t series its real life. Coming Out? The Pandemic? The guilt of being gay in a household/society that is heteronormative. Kudos to the writers and the actors!!
I think the youngest brother, Jm, will portray Paris. Btw he's also an actor. And all three of them (Elijah, Jerom, Jm) are managed by the idea first company.
Idk if the production team will ever see this comment but I just want to say thanks... I lost my Dad too during this pandemic. Everything you showed here--not being able to visit, not have a wake, not say goodbye--it's all real for me. It's hard to grieve bc it often times feels unreal. But I've been able to reflect and process things by watching my life reflected to me in the series. I was able to cry after months of feeling nothing. So, thank you, Idea First. Thank you, Direk Ivan. Thank you, Ash. Thank you to everyone for helping save me from drowning in nothingness. I will forever treasure this series. Thank you.
*3 lines that I can't forget in this episode* 1. "Don't use your mental health as an excuse. Own up to your mistakes, make up for it and don't do it again." 2. "Don't apologize for being who you are." 3. "I forgive you, Cairo. I hope you forgive yourself, too." This episode taught us many lessons. Anddddd yung Baby ni Gav omg hankyuut nila
I love the way philippines show us real People, with real problems, and they act so natural. I am trully impressed with their work and acting skills. Felicitaciones!! 👏👏👏
"DON'T USE YOUR MENTAL HEALTH AS YOUR EXCUSE" "DON'T BE SORRY, YOU DONT NEED TO APOLOGIZE FOR BEING WHO YOU ARE" LADIES AND GENTLEMAN! I STAN MORE HARDER THAN BEFORE!!! edited: omg thank u for the likes!! keep on loving this series! :)
this BL tackles a lot of issues..... - pandemic - losing loved ones - it's not easy for everyone coming out as gay - family, their love and support is very important - mental health and how it can be triggered in this time of crisis - friendship (good and bad side) - acceptance of who you are - communication - and most of all, LOVE in all forms this episode is emotional from the start but the ending really made my heart flutter..i want to be Gav's baby BUT i have to give way to the deserving Cai.. to everyone, love and accept who you are and as long as you are not hurting anyone, don't apologize for being true to what you really feel..LOVE has no gender, it has no limit, it is universal!
I am sorry but when Cairo highlighted the part "Tell your parents you love them and tell them now" I paused the video Went downstairs And gave them a tight hug and told them how much I love them My mum patted my head and told me that she loves me too While my pops is a man of few words, so he holded me more tightly and I am sure he had tears in his eyes. This pandemic has effected our lives by making it difficult to earn our food. But god has blessed us that all 3 of us are safe and healthy. I hope everyone else also let's their parents know how much you love them.
@@JohnPaul-cu6jr I am crying too... We are here sitting at our homes and might forget how serious this pandemic is but this series just made us realise.
I called my father already from last weeks episode to tell him I love and miss him very much and I just did it again right now, especially since I'm far away at university practically different provinces.
Game boys is one of the most progressive bls I’ve watched. To be able to handle such heavy topics in less than 30 mins without the audience come out of the episode without feeling exhausted is worth so much praise. We often get a super heavy or a light/fluff piece in the bl genre it’s nice to see both take place in a way that feels so natural. Game boys has provided something I been longing for as a fan of this genre and does it without any physical interaction between leads is insane 👏🏾👏🏾 Kudos to the director, writers, actors and editors you’ve made a masterpiece
Okay the romance is wonderful but "Gameboys" is the best depiction of real life during the pandemic. Even Gav and Cai falling asleep together on Zoom . Great writing and this production is a creative highlight of 2020. It deserves the widest possible audience.
i think y'all need to hear it again, "Don't apologise for who you are!". I'm planning to tell my mom that i'm not fully straight, but i what to figure out what i am first, i feel confused until this day

when Cairo said "I'm sorry I'm gay",, i had to pause and cry for almost 5 minutes,,, as someone who also said the same thing to my parents....I really blamed myself for being like this,,, but literally Cairo's mom response was something I longed for (legit, I try to guess what would be her responses be she almost says it verbatim "lalo na yung mahal kita, anak")....kudos to the director, crew, and actors for giving us this wonderful series. i have never related so much to this
Summarize for this episode: Cairo's mom won the best mom of the year while Risa won the snake of the year. And oh at last! Gavreel won Cairo's heart!!! #BabyNiGav ❤❤❤

Gameboys is definitely a Top Tier BL series, a must watch for all BL fans. The story itself can topple any other BL series around. And the acting puts other BL actors to shame.
This is such a wholesome EPISODE 😭😭😭 • Toughness • Love from our Parents • Trustworthiness • Mental Health • Forgiveness • Acceptance • Self - Reflection • Moving On • Accepting Someone's Love WORTH WATCHING 👏😭 #GameboysEp8 #BabyniGav ♡

This is a true representation of what BL’s are supposed to be. Media that lgbt+ people can relate to, that they can feel safe and comfortable in, that handles issues that are relatable for them. And a community that does the same. It’s truly appreciated to have media like this. Thank you.
I cried so much during this episode. This is not just a BL. This is a series that demonstrates what unconditional love is, what friendship is about, and most importantly, self love and acceptance.
“Cairo...don’t be sorry. You don’t apologize for being who you are.” Powerful scene between Cairo and his Mom. I love his Mom. Her acting in the series is outstanding 🙌
Remembered what happened to me and my father. Even before he died also 2 yrs ago which until this day I keep on remembering because we did not have proper closure of our differences. But he was sharing to a family friend about how he feels and cared because of my health condition. It is hard at times since that day he passed away that we were not able to talk.
It will hit differently when you have a family member with covid 19. Guys please pray for my sister and for me, and I hope you guys alright and still safe #amen 🥺🙏🏻❤️
I was sick too, and my dad still is. He was actually in the hospital like in the show, he's out now but he's not completely okay. I just hope he gets better, because I don't have a Gav to support me if things go south...
I hope everything is fine now... I will pray for you. I know how it feels..happened to my family too (darkest month of my life). Believe in yourself and be strong 💕
"You don't apologize of being who you are" That words means a lot to all people who didn't come out already because of being hate , discreminate and loneleness.,because of people can't accept them.,dont be afreaid to show who you are...just show them that what they can do .,you can do it also..
I'm so amazed at how authentic and dynamic this BL series is. The acting was SO natural. I'm also talking to someone that I met online at the onset of covid and I relived so many of my convos thru Gav's and Cai's (we're both gay men as well). This is also my first Filipino BL and I couldn't be more impressed! :)
I was nervous about this episode, especially after how ep 7 ended. It was done magnificently. It had all the right elements of sadness, grief, forgiveness, understanding, and acceptance. It didn't overplay or linger on the grief, but it was very respectful to whats going on in the world rn. I can't get enough of this drama, it's current, refreshing, adorable.
20 days ago my uncle died of covid-19 it was the most heartbreaking thing in my life he knew about my sexual orientation he supported me and protected me, he was my best friend and I know he is in a better place, thank you gameboys for making one series where reality is seen in these times

yes, hopefully it will be realistic in law, regulation and society especially for the ones who experience discrimination because of those 3 elements (law, regulation, society).
Seriously this was the best BL I've watched. Comedic, heartbreaking, whatever else describes it. But most of all, it's real. It doesn't seem made up to satisfy a fantasy, it is literally showing in the most natural way the things that happen in real life. My heart actually aches from the emotions this sends out 😭 (I am crying right now, don't judge)
“Gameboys” is the BL series from the Philippines you can be truly proud of! Simple. Straight forward. Real. Great artists. I love this than any other local and foreign series alike. Congratulations!

@Mark Anthony Soriano Omg, nandito ka pa rin? Well isa lang masasabi ko sa acting ng #XavMi mo. Super trying hard, walang wala sa dalawa na to. Yang Tony Labrusca mo? He is nothing compare to this two. That gay hidden in a closet, truth hurts bitch.

This episode could be titled “ how to make me cry for about 25 minutes straight then suddenly have a stupid smile on my face”. Because that’s exactly what happened. OMGoodness this show has been so unexpectedly amazing. It’s given way more than I was first expecting. Truly mind blowing.
it's so hard to explain to foreign viewers, but being called "anak" by your parents hit SOOOO differently, especially when they say it personally (not just through text or chat). it's like receiving a warm tight hug, it shows that they accept you no matter what. "anak" is filipino for "my child". the pronouns in the Philippine language are non-gender specific. older people may actually even call you "anak" even tho you're not related in any way. it means that we treat each other as family. hahahaha, another insight on Filipino culture. 🇵🇭
This doesn’t even feel like a show anymore it feels soo real it’s amazing how real it feels the whole cast are amazing actors and actresses and also did pearl dye her hair black it seems darker🤔 MY EYES ARE LEAKING SO BAD RIGHT NOW😭😭😭😭I’ve never every watched a movie and bl anything that has me made me cry as much as this show has I literally can’t stop😂😭😭😭😭❤️CAI’S mom❤️❤️❤️❤️
It is not polite at all to make me cry and then smile and then sorrow and then cry and then smile all in a 30 minutes span. I feel weared out, happy and exhausted. How long since I had cried this much? Jesús it's been a while!
Damn, you can tell that show was written by some actual humans. There’s just a certain level of relatability and vulnerability that really makes this feel like it actually happened. From the emotions surrounding Cai being outed, to the situation with pandemic, to the reactions of the characters losing their loved ones. The Philippines are really killing it out here on the bl front.
A bl series with no toxic relationships , top notch acting ,grt story , and addresses real issues ? That's Gameboys for u Amazing how they pulled this video call concept so well . Loved every moment of each episode .I hope the movie comes out soon 🤞
"Gameboys" the Series is serendipity at its finest. You have a film company that is passionate about representation of the marginalized. A director who is not only smart, but also abstemious in his treatment of the material handed to him. A screenwriter who trusts fully in the intelligence of his audience. A cast of actors who, across the board, are absolutely excellent at their craft, and are avowed allies of the LGBTQ+ community. Two lead actors who inhabit their characters so honestly and unapologetically -- raw and powerful and real. And all of them working in collaboration to give the viewing public an amazing work of art that is specifically and unequivocally relevant to the times, while at the same time giving a refreshing take on love and loss, family and friendship, and the triumph of the human spirit. Thank you, The IdeaFirst Company. 💜
I'm so into their story that it feels like a full 50min episode. I'm only a month or so into my BL journey and I've watched quite a few but this one is beautiful.
I’m not lying or exaggerating when I say this one episode made me cry more than any other BL I have ever watched. Idk why, but I was like crying through the whole episode. Maybe it’s just too relatable for me, my dad doesn’t have the best health and I worry for him, and I also still haven’t come out to my parents yet... I am starting to think I should talk to them while I still have the chance Cairo and Gav’s smile there at the end made me feel a little better. It gives me hope for the future
I think it's because it's so relatable right now for like everything it just makes so much sense in the current time that we're in. I cried rivers, I was emotional too.
go! tell them! i just came out to my family and it was the most liberating thing EVER! no matter how they respond, just remember that we are all here as a community rooting for you! 😁
Griefel Pras That moment made me: -drop my phone -scream -have existential crisis -made me feel single -and look like a friggin idiot infront of my family 😐 i swear they think I'm crazy 😆😆
One of my sons is gay and I’ve known since he was a little boy. I never cared because love is love no matter the gender, race, religion or what. LOVE IS LOVE💕💕💕💕
Getting back to this series after my dad just passed away. Iba. I'm so envious Cairo's father was able to give his final message. Nung si dad naospital hindi na sya nakapag communicate samin. Pero feeling ko baka same lang din ang gusto iparating nya sa email ng dad ni Cai. Masakit talaga.
"Don't use mental health as an excuse, own up for your mistakes, make up for it and don't do it again" yes pearl!!! LOUDERRRRR !!!!!!!! we stan the real queen 👑 "Anak, walang mali sayo" 😭🌈❤️
Sana when people say own up to your mistakes... kasama dun yung pagtake ng meds or check up. Emotions are scientific. Ever since, people treat emotions as if it is just a pseudo-phenomenon when in fact it's not. And taking care of your mental health is not just a crazy person's business... It's rather strategic and wise. #JustSaying
It's funny how I saw this series on Netflix and I was like ahh..i like bl series but I don't think I will like this one. And after some serious boredom I was like let me try it..and now I'm obsessed..the amount of time I spent watching it over and over again is scary guys. I can't wait for season to..watching it all the way from Johannesburg 🇿🇦 South Africa.
This ep is really heavy on so many different levels. 1. The pain of losing someone you love. 2. The self blame 3. Coping with the pain 4. Learning to let go and move on And most of all 5. The forgiveness and acceptance ( self acceptance, cai's mom was right nver apologize for being who you are and his father giving him forgiveness for the sake of cai forgiving himself, cai finally accepting his sexuality and gav's love ) And to that, giving us so much emotion and relatable scenario. Kudos to the whole Gameboys crew👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
to be honest, everyone keep wishing to have someone like Gavreel, but, I'll say that we should be like Gavreel: He is full of confidence and passion, even at the times of melancholy and chaos. A true filipino personality! Filipinos still smile even at the time of calamity. Keep it up!
The talk with his brother and mom was BEAUTIFUL! As long as my children aren’t hurting themselves or others... I will NEVER get upset at who they are or for who they love!!! Love is beautiful thing, it needs to be spread... not stomped on!!!!

- the pandemic and its realities
- appreciation for the frontliners
- family relationship and values (London & Cai)
- mental health and accountability (Pearl & Terrence)
- moving on (Terrence)
- coming out to family members (Cai & his mom)
- how outing someone is wrong (f***ing Risa)
- forgiving a family member (London)
- forgiving yourself (Cai)
- a father's undying love
- a mother's unconditional love
- kuya London's legs

I am so disappointed to myself for judging this series without even watching it and now, I'm crying because it hits differently. I can't pinpoint the exact emotion but it's a mixture of everything...sadness, envy, loneliness, doubtful....
It's okay, in one way or another, we are just like that sometimes. All of us,sometimes.
Its because its real. I mean yes its fiction and yes its brilliant actors but, its real. We all feel what's going on, its so close to home, the feelings are real. Idk maybe I'm just an idiot.
SAME HERE.... NEVER THOUGHT IT HITS ME HARD....when the 1st ep came out...I just passed it but now, I'm watching it all night
This is what I want to say 😭

Thank you.

2. "Don't apologize for being who you are."
3. "I forgive you, Cairo. I hope you forgive yourself, too."

Oop-
This episode really hit different because it’s real life things that happen.
this BL tackles a lot of issues.....
- pandemic
- losing loved ones
- it's not easy for everyone coming out as gay
- family, their love and support is very important
- mental health and how it can be triggered in this time of crisis
- friendship (good and bad side)
- acceptance of who you are
- communication
- and most of all, LOVE in all forms
this episode is emotional from the start but the ending really made my heart flutter..i want to be Gav's baby BUT i have to give way to the deserving Cai..
to everyone, love and accept who you are and as long as you are not hurting anyone, don't apologize for being true to what you really feel..LOVE has no gender, it has no limit, it is universal!
I am sorry but when Cairo highlighted the part
"Tell your parents you love them and tell them now"
I paused the video
Went downstairs
And gave them a tight hug and told them how much I love them
My mum patted my head and told me that she loves me too
While my pops is a man of few words, so he holded me more tightly and I am sure he had tears in his eyes.
This pandemic has effected our lives by making it difficult to earn our food. But god has blessed us that all 3 of us are safe and healthy.
I hope everyone else also let's their parents know how much you love them.
Great job!

Game boys has provided something I been longing for as a fan of this genre and does it without any physical interaction between leads is insane 👏🏾👏🏾 Kudos to the director, writers, actors and editors you’ve made a masterpiece

it's so hard to explain to foreign viewers, but being called "anak" by your parents hit SOOOO differently, especially when they say it personally (not just through text or chat). it's like receiving a warm tight hug, it shows that they accept you no matter what.
"anak" is filipino for "my child". the pronouns in the Philippine language are non-gender specific. older people may actually even call you "anak" even tho you're not related in any way. it means that we treat each other as family. hahahaha, another insight on Filipino culture. 🇵🇭

That's Gameboys for u
Amazing how they pulled this video call concept so well . Loved every moment of each episode .I hope the movie comes out soon 🤞
Yes, a much more relevant series

Getting back to this series after my dad just passed away. Iba. I'm so envious Cairo's father was able to give his final message. Nung si dad naospital hindi na sya nakapag communicate samin. Pero feeling ko baka same lang din ang gusto iparating nya sa email ng dad ni Cai. Masakit talaga.
"I'm sorry for being gay" Wow this line hits me straight to the heart. Don't be sorry for who you are.
I had to pause the video and quietly say “ouch” to myself. It really struck true
"Don't use mental health as an excuse. Own up to your mistakes, make up for it and don't do it again"
(Pearl, 2020)
👏🏻👏🏻
"Don't use mental health as an excuse, own up for your mistakes, make up for it and don't do it again" yes pearl!!! LOUDERRRRR !!!!!!!! we stan the real queen 👑
"Anak, walang mali sayo" 😭🌈❤️
"Don't apologize for who you are."
Aww, I wish all parents are understanding.
This ep is really heavy on so many different levels.
1. The pain of losing someone you love.
2. The self blame
3. Coping with the pain
4. Learning to let go and move on
And most of all 5. The forgiveness and acceptance ( self acceptance, cai's mom was right nver apologize for being who you are and his father giving him forgiveness for the sake of cai forgiving himself, cai finally accepting his sexuality and gav's love )
And to that, giving us so much emotion and relatable scenario.
Kudos to the whole Gameboys crew👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Ik it really did
to be honest, everyone keep wishing to have someone like Gavreel, but, I'll say that we should be like Gavreel: He is full of confidence and passion, even at the times of melancholy and chaos. A true filipino personality! Filipinos still smile even at the time of calamity. Keep it up!
Well said my friend 👏😌
The talk with his brother and mom was BEAUTIFUL! As long as my children aren’t hurting themselves or others... I will NEVER get upset at who they are or for who they love!!! Love is beautiful thing, it needs to be spread... not stomped on!!!!
