    Cpl Shultz went on to become Warrant and was awarded Star of Military Valour for an engagement during his second tour of Afghanistan.

    This is like in the US Army as Primary Leadership Course, PLDC for Sergeant. Same refresher in Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Course, BNOC for Drills and Ceremonies. All NCOs should be proficient in all DNC as well as properly instructing in all movements in all with the proper demeanor with practice. Drill and Ceremonies are part of an NCO to give battle instructions or Operations Orders to be clear and conscise in combat. Drill and Ceremonies in the past are the same in modern battle drills in the past. Every soldier is required to master their weapons and tactics to employ them individually. The soldier in combat must employ himself into combat collectively as a team by their NCOs. Drill and ceremonies instill discipline into small units to be decisively effective in combat.

    Wow, what a flashback. I still remember the exact lingo used...from both sides of the lesson. I enjoyed doing drill, but hated teaching it.
    (I also remember getting laughed at the first time I raised my leg for a movement on board a ship. Unlearning the "numbers" was probably harder than learning them.)

    Same as British Army drill.

    • @alvindurochermtl
      @alvindurochermtl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No exactly and there are little differences here and there.
      Brits really dig their left heel down marching to the halt and Canadians only slide their left foot.
      Brits shout "Shun" and Canadians shout "Attention" or "Atten-ta".
      Canadian Army and Air Force are pretty much the only ones in the Commonwealth that do a naval style salute.

    • @nacholibre1962
      @nacholibre1962 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@alvindurochermtl Wrong. I am ex-Brit Army and serving CA. Brits do no drive the left heel only. Sliding the left foot is a regimental quirk, not a formal drill movement. The main differences are the salute being very different and the open order.
