I haven't seen 'The Revenant' since it came out at the movies, but I'd happily sit through it all again. Such an awesome film, and I'm not someone who likes a great deal of movies. Listening to this brought back that grim, honest approach to cinematography throughout, how it managed to be uncompromising yet without a trace of gratuitousness to it. The whole movie felt like watching a nature documentary, without the commentary. My friend reckoned it was actually a movie about the environment, with all the characters just supporting cast. The beauty of this movie is that another 4 or 5 movies could be made, based upon the other characters who feature- and all of them would have a story just as interesting. Listening to this again made me think of the doomed Franklin expedition of 1845-46, I actually looked at images of John Torrington and the fellow sailors who perished in the Arctic while listening to this soundtrack, and it made their experience feel much more 'real' to me. I could picture the cold, bleak ice and now, that struggle for survival, that sense of being very fragile and vulnerable in the elements. If you don't mind pictures of (well-preserved) corpses, I suggest you take a look for yourself. Their gritted teeth make you realise how cold they must've been up until their deaths. If they ever made a movie about the Franklin Expedition I'd love to hear a soundtrack like this to go with it...
No joke. The awesome power of nature is certainly nothing to take lightly. The people that braved the elements took huge risks and it didn't always work in their favor.
Would anyone be able to recommend violin music similar to “Arriving at Fort Kiowa” It’s wonderfully composed but so short and I’d like to find similar sounding violin pieces
I'll bet against you, pretty sure it's a bunch of violins using the "col legno" effect by bouncing the backsides of their bows against the strings of the violin. That being said, I get where you're coming from
The Revenant has the best acting that I have ever seen!
Same here. Been ages since i ever saw such good acting in a movie.
Bar none.
der Film ein Meisterwerk, die Filmmusik wie Sie nicht besser sein kann. Klasse !!!!

My favourite music
Mine too absolutely.
I wanna bet that the sound that comes on at 4:51 is an Euler's disc spinning on a concave mirror.
